Golddigger is probably Kanye’s worst single, as well
As untrue as this is, Kanye has actually admitted to not care for Gold Digger anymore. He played it at first on the Saint Pablo tour, but dropped it after only a handful of shows.

Gold digger is the drunk sorority girl’s favorite Kanye song. It’s the pumpkin spice of Kanye singles.

After seeing Kanye West on SNL last week, he probably lost a lot of potential 2019 festival bookings from his lackluster performances, not to mention his tin-foil-MAGA-hat politics.
He's always struck me as being the Emperor's New Clothes of hip hop. "Golddigger" was an amazing single, but his output has gone from bad to worse since then.
(Why do rappers who can't carry a tune insist upon singing? That was brutal.)
Kanye has some remarkable output since Late Registration. Have you listened?
To which music do you refer? The T-Pain ripoff or the dancing Perrier bottle song?

Pick from the 4 almost universally adored albums he released after 808s, including his greatest album (imo)
Universally adored? Maybe by people who don't require great lyrics, great beats, or great flow from their rappers.
His music, and I use the word "music" loosely, is incredibly overrated. He's one of those artists, and I used the word "artist" loosely, who suckers people in with his personal mythology and daft behavior, but doesn't back that up with quality work.

Except for "Golddigger." That song rocks.
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is 94/100 on Metacritic (With a 9.0 User Score). This represents Universal Acclaim. Yeezus is 84/100. This also represents Universal Acclaim. Watch the Throne is 76/100. Represents generally favorable. Life of Pablo is 75/100. Represents generally favorable.
So either all of these critics and people are wrong, or you don't know what you're talking about. I'll go with the latter.

If Donald Trump can pull the wool over so many people's eyes and end up in the White House, Kayne West can do the same in the entertainment industry. Did you actually see his SNL performance last weekend? Every aspect of it was laughably bad.

Ok I'm done talking to you about this. You keep moving the goalposts. You said he hadn't made a good album in 15 years. I showed you 4 albums that are pretty great albums. 1 absolutely fantastic album, in my opinion. Now you're talking about last week's SNL performance. Just move on, dude.

I wonder what type of research festival promoters are doing to gauge whether Kanye would attract ticket buyers. Because as toxic as he is now, past touring history would indicate that people are still willing to pay to see him.

I never said he made a great album. Just one great single.

Does every great arena headliner make for a great festival headliner? I contend that a strong festival headliner not only has a loyal fan base and is able to fill arenas from coast-to-coast, but also needs to be an artist that a lot of people "kinda sorta" like, someone that people will want to stick around for even if they're not a huge fan.
Literally half of the crowd walked out after Hozier performed in Sept 2015, choosing to leave before the Alabama Shakes' headlining set. That's such a bad look and you want headliners who'll keep people on the festival grounds until the end of the night.

Up until a year ago that’s pretty much exactly what Kanye was. And probably still is honestly. His cult of personality only adds to that. I think there are a lot of people who, while they might not go see a Kanye tour, will be very curious to see his show if he’s at a festival they’re at. He’s crossed a line for me and his new music isn’t good enough for me to look past it, but there are definitely a lot of people who feel differently.
I do appreciate that the opinions you voice in this thread are almost always garbage, though. Keeps things entertaining

I get why someone with your millennial perspective might think my opinions are garbage. You weren't around to see the great live bands of the 70's - 90's at the peak of their powers. You never split the shrink wrap on the newly-released Sugarhill Records 12 inch of The Message, Straight Outta Compton, or Fear Of A Black Planet and heard their fury as something entirely new to popular music. You never grew up listening to a top 40 radio station playing the latest singles by The Beatles, Otis Redding, Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra, and The Supremes back to back. You're so used to the carbon copy of a carbon copy of a carbon copy of the real thing, that you think that these copies are the real thing. But they're not.

Is that a serious post? You realize how much of a total douchebag that makes you sound like, right?
At what age can we comment about music and be told our opinions aren’t automatically bad because we haven’t seen dead guys play music? I’m 36. Can i comment?
Aren’t you the guy who just whines insufferably about festivals in the Boston area not being perfectly accessible? Doesn’t seem very rock and roll, man. Hendrix would not be impressed.
Every art and entertainment medium, and genre within each medium, has its golden ages and lean times, and it's not a case of older always being better. For the most part, the TV shows of my youth were really lame and even things which seemed entertaining at the time haven't aged well (like Norman Lear sitcoms, for example). TV's Golden Age didn't start until the late 90's and stayed strong through the middle of this decade.
Same goes for movies, comic books, literature, and every other medium...including music.
There's no shame in admitting that not all eras are created equal, while surveying the evolution of popular music, and that there were particular times when there was more great stuff than other times.

This approach is excellent if you want cookie-cutter headliners that cater to the lowest common denominator.

If you only had a brain, Strawman.
Damn and here I was thinking that nobody was actually reading the “why millennials ruined _____” articles on dailymail.
