If we had a headliner better than Drake, that'd be nice. Can live with Drake though.
Only reason I'm pretty optimistic about KSG or some form of Kanye headlining is because he's never played Boston Calling before and hasn't been to boston in general in a long time. The last two #1s are artists who haven't played boston in quite a while. Since Drake just played 3 shows at the garden, that leads me to believe he won't be returning. At least not as the #1.

2 years and 23 days is a "long time?"
Nevermind. Forgot life of pablo tour tbh. In that case I have no clue who will be #1
I think Muse will do their US headline tour first before jumping into a fest circuit, they are due to announce their world tour for 2019 within the next month or so.
I really hope so because I don't like Muse at all LMAO. Also I think we can count on a female headliner because of the backlash of the headliners last year all being white dudes.
Wasn't this backlash just a few writers who were looking for an excuse to complain?
A female headliner is certainly possible, but money talks and bullshit walks.
Let's not forget, last Boston Calling had The Killers less than five months after they played the Garden.
Did that show even sell out?
It did, I'm pretty sure. God now I'm worrying because TØP sold out their october show at the Garden instantly. Please god don't let them play
I suspect that they want to go for headliners with some general popularity, in addition to having a rabid fanbase. The kind of act where a lot of people think to themselves, "I probably wouldn't buy a ticket to their Garden show, but they'd be cool to see at Boston Calling." Otherwise, it's such a bad look when half of the crowd leaves right when the headlining set begins.
They aren't a band with a lot of broad appeal. Most acts which appeal heavily to pre-teens and young teens aren't.
You may not love Eminem or The Killers, but everyone can name at least three of their songs (and a couple of White Stripes songs).
twenty one pilots are going to headline any fest they want to outside of Coachella in 2019
I feel like they'll do another round of dates in the summer, willing to be it'll even be one of theose 'co-headline but they are really the headliners' tour that Live Nation puts on every year and travels around their amphitheaters (like how LN has done Weezer/Pixes, Fall Out Boy/Paramore and the like). Just seeing how fast they sold out their intial dates, and what they did for their last album cycle, they'll do another round of touring the same setlist in new cities, then do festivals maybe starting next fall, wrapping up in spring '20. That's IF they follow the masive touring route they did for Blurryface.
21 Pilots have a Boston Calling sized hole in their tour dates
I just saw that and I'm so fucking upset having bought presale. If they really are playing, I NEED them to bring back counter programming for headliners like they did for 2018. Since their TD Garden show sold out almost instantly, I think there's a pretty good chance they'll play BC. Especially since they're in Montreal only 2 days before the fest starts. On the bright side, at least they probably won't be at Osheaga in this case.
I mean, I wasn't a big fan of 2017s top line aside from Chance but the subs/undercard were their best yet IMO. Hopefully they do the same next year if TOP headlines.
If anyone wants a free ticket to The Decemberists/Marissa Nadler show at the Orpheum on Friday night, let me know. You'll have to come up to Arlington, MA to pick it up.
I'll check Inforoo messages a couple of times per day to see if there are any responses.
If 21 Pilots can move a bunch of tickets and help pay for a great midtier and lower card - I'll live with it. If I'm by myself, I just hope for counterprogramming or leave early that night.

Yeah I stand corrected, based on the dates they are returning after all.
Def a headliner, no less- entire fall run sold out within hours. Also, BC knows what they are doing their fans will come out in DROVES to see them and sell out their day at least.
If they DID get someone like Kanye, he'd be number one, TOP number two, Florence (or Arctic Monkeys or whatever) number three.
The MSG Company is spinning off its sports and entertainment divisions into separate companies, both of which will still be owned by the Dolan family. I have no idea if and how this will impact Boston Calling (and concerts at the Boch Center/Wang/Shubert), but there may be some unknown impact in years to come.

After seeing Kanye West on SNL last week, he probably lost a lot of potential 2019 festival bookings from his lackluster performances, not to mention his tin-foil-MAGA-hat politics.
He's always struck me as being the Emperor's New Clothes of hip hop. "Golddigger" was an amazing single, but his output has gone from bad to worse since then.
(Why do rappers who can't carry a tune insist upon singing? That was brutal.)

The ticket's still available. If you can make it up to Arlington late this afternoon, you can have it.

Kanye has some remarkable output since Late Registration. Have you listened?
