Yeah, not sure that I understand the details on how/where they lock your numbers. The part about if "your details are entered incorrectly, an attempt to book is already held against your registration number, or your 5 minutes on the booking page ends" is confusing. Basically, I think its trying to say that once you hit the payment page your numbers are locked for up to 10 mins and that you have 5 mins to submit the correct payment info and make a successful payment. If you get through the payment successfully, no problem. If your CC transaction fails (for whatever reason) or their web site crashes, you will be locked out for the original 5 and some additional time (up to a total of 10 mins).
The one important tip here is that if you do get stuck trying to make a payment(due to system issues), use your back button to try and recover and don't use F5/refresh. I would also be careful here as servers that are under stress often just take a lot longer to respond. i.e. you don't want to hit back in the middle of a slow CC transaction.
Registration has closed, so thats that. 3 days and counting. And apparently theyre going to enforce visa verify and mastercard verify to complete your purchase. Double check that info so you dont get stuck.
What is Visa/MasterCard verify? Is that something you have to set up?
They give you your festival ticket on the coach. You can't ditch your coach
Well that really throws a wrench into it all. Wonder if a lot of people dont try the coach sale because of that.
Last year at The O2, they gave you your ticket as you got onto the bus. There was nothing stopping you from turning around and getting right back off the bus. They make sure everyone has their ticket before the driver leaves.

Nothing that you have to set up. Its a service between Visa and the merchant (SeeTickets) that puts additional steps in place to verify your identity. I'm not sure of all of the process but it requires the merchant to provide certain info, possibly including things like source IP in order for Visa to process the payment. As an example, when I tested my card with SeeTickets, I'm guessing that I tested the "base" set of conditions...meaning, my card info combined with my name and possibly my source IP. The SeeTickets confirm transaction screen that I saw had info that indicated that SeeTickets had used the Verified by Visa service to process my payment....it all happened behind the scenes with no issues.
That doesn't mean that I'm all set. As an example, 2 possible issues could still happen in the actual sale.......1) the amount that I charge will be quite a bit more than my test transaction 2) I will be using a couple of different devices that have different IPs (including allowing others within my group to process the payment using my CC). Either of those conditions could trigger an scenario at Visa where they require extra verification. This could result in something like Visa texting your phone with a code that you then have to enter into a Visa Verify or SeeTickets screen. In theory, this shouldn't impact the process/transaction but given how fragile SeeTickets seems to be during this sale, its not a comforting thought.

For me, the more important question is how feasible is it to ditch the ride home portion of the ticket. i.e. If I'm forced to a non-optimal departure point (say Manchester), how feasible would it be to ditch my ride home and then just take some other form of public transportation back to London (where I'm originating from). I realize that I could do this from a ticket package POV, just not sure how hard it would be to find transportation back to London given that so many other people are booking the same transportation.

You can take the train back to London from Castle Cary, it's about a $10-15 cab ride from the fest to the train station. Not sure how much a one way train ticket will run you but I can't imagine it being that much.

In 2016 our bus that was supposed to take us from the O2 had issues and they had to bring in a replacement bus and we did not get our tickets until we arrived at the festival. I know that’s not going to happen often, but I would hate to plan just grabbing your ticket from the driver and getting off the bus and it be one of the few instances that the driver doesn’t have the tickets.
What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.

Yeah you can. You can look Em up and make a log in and such. The thing is it might not even come up at all, but you never know. As explained above, might be seamless, but something can always go wrong. I had it pop its head up on a handful of ticketmaster purchases years ago, but never happened after that.
I must be living right. I literally got to the registration page in the first min. Everyone else in my group (and my 2 other devices) were hung up or bombing out on the busy page.
So what are our options now? Can tickets still fall out of people’s carts? Do we wait? Or call it a night and try for general on sale tickets next week?

Its over. They know what they sold, nothing pops up at all.
Old systems like this have that kind of advantage for not letting a ticket slip through or a glitch. Sunday now and thatll be it til april resale

That was all very very lucky. We were locked and ready to go and Jack got his option to select a date immediately, but was pushed into waiting page within seconds.
Got through to the purchase page for me and my dad but he gave me the wrong postcode so the order fucked up and we got shut out lol
Word docs and copy paste are your friend. Triple check everything. Sorry
lesson learned - we had reviewed all the information last night and I had copied and pasted it all but he consistently gave me the wrong information (he put his town as the postcode and not his zip code). I should've known to check his actual registration documents.

If it makes you feel any better I got an error saying the same but had actually entered everything correctly
the worst part was after a few tries once I put in the correct postcode I actually got through to the coach purchase ticket page but as soon as I clicked the "proceed" link to the payment page everything sold out.

Yeah, if you arent sure about everything you have, retrieve the registration yourself and see what it says.
What are transport options for those of us with no cars now that coach has sold out?
Waiting to try again in April isn’t an option for us coming from Australia. We either get tickets on Sunday, or we’re not going to Glasto. If we’re not going then we’re doing our vacation/honeymoon at a totally different time of year (April instead of June).

Congrats to everyone that got through! I never made it past the holding page for Wed travel. I'm holding out hope for the general on sale on Sunday but I've heard that one is even more difficult to get through on.

Its tickets with a coach ticket included that are sold out. You can purchase a coach trip afterwards if you get a ticket on sunday. They just sell them combined right now and make you straight out commit to the trip. Because of course most everyone goes for weds and that sells out first, while thursday takes a bit longer. Think about it, 140,000 people and they will only allow 20,000 to take a coach? Not how it works for a festival thats raising money for greenpeace and oxfam.

[ Yes, I meant what are names of other transport companies that offer services. The one they tweeted out (National Express) seems more expensive by quite a bit than what the package price was. Unless I’m seeing some weird conversion with the AUD.
Or even more generally, what are alternative options to coaches all together. I have low faith in getting WV now, so I have to start seriously considering the GA camping option now, which means hauling and acquiring more gear than I was banking on.
Anyways. Very disappointed. Will try again Sunday but I had higher hopes for coach than I do for GA. I’m going back to bed
