Some updates from todays book release and interview with emily eavis.
Worthy View, Tipis and Campervan sales will happen Nov 21 at 6pm BST for coach ticket holders with general ticket buyers being allowed to purchase an hour later.
On BBC introducing earlier Emily Eavis stated that 2 of the 3 headliners have been booked and they have never played the festival before. No Spice Girls at the fest either. Theyre looking at potentially expanding the pyramid stage area to make more room and there will be guests galore. Also the Other Stage headliners are big enough to headline the pyramid themselves.

Hold up. They’ve only booked 2 of 3? Didn’t they say they had 2 headliners booked for 2020 like 2 years ago? Any fest of this size books all headliners well over a year in advance. I’m thinking this can only mean that someone dropped out.

Negotiations can be tough. Emily even touched on that later in the conversation regarding having so many options in regards to who to book. There was an excerpt from the glasto book that the guardian posted yesterday and it was a passage that talked about how she had finally landed prince to play in 2014. And a week later a uk tabloid published a story saying that was happening. He back out cause he thought they leaked it to the press and was just a tabloid talking randomness cause he was rumored every year as to be playing. We dont know what theyre dealing with right now and maybe just left the last spot open just in case they were going to get something crazy and not have to turn away like macca cause they booked the 1975 at the top instead? we’ll see.
Poking around efestivals over the last few weeks leads me to believe that nobody has a clue who is really headlining. Taylor makes a lot of sense, but purely based on schedule and the fact that she's focused on European festivals without a UK date. The Kendrick rumor seems possible but lacking facts to back it up. After that, you get into endless pages of people throwing out random names of artists that have almost zero chance of playing (Kate Bush, Stone Roses, REM)or endless debate on if an artist is big enough to headline (Foals, 1975, Rage Against the Machine)......kind of like an exaggerated version of the Inforoo/Bonnaroo headline topic.
In most cases, festival bookings seem to underwhelm compared to expectations and Glastonbury 50 seems to have sky high expectations. I would bet that the end result will be better than the typical year but still close to a regular lineup. In the end, I'm sure whoever they end up booking will be great. They always seem to put together a decent lineup and its so massive that even in bad years you can find good bands on the poster. Looking forward to seeing the actual lineup.
Thats why you look at the betting odds and thats fairly accurate in determining whats going on. And the person who runs efestivals is plugged in enough to get some info. Such as taking Macca out of the running. Its also very difficult to predict a line up of hundreds of bands since there really isnt a radius clause in the uk other than exclusive tags. So geography and timing are the only guide for the next few months.
anyone know how the April resale works? How likely are odds to get tickets then? Are Worthy View accomodations even an option at that point or would you have to do GA camping?
We're honestly thinking about doing our original trip as planned and leaving a spot for Glasto and trying for tickets in April now.... Literally feel like we're back to square one now. 😩

I got tickets through the April resale last year. It’s difficult but possible. It’s really quite simple—the more friends and family you have trying to get tickets, the better your odds are. It’s a waiting room/queue system, except that they don’t tell you your spot. In fact, nobody even knows if there are spots. They might just randomly let people in as the servers allow. Nobody knows for sure.
Worthy View will be long gone at that point, but there are about a dozen off-site accommodation providers. I stayed at Ziggucamp last year. About a 15 minute walk from one of the pedestrian gates, followed by a 5 minute shuttle.
I made a list of off-site accommodation providers a while back. If I recall correctly, most are non-refundable, but there might be one or two that allow you to refund up through April for a small fee. I also recall last year that about a week prior to the resale, most of the off site campsites were sold out. A couple had limited availability. But a number of them open up additional spots immediately following the resale, presumably from people backing out who didn’t get tickets. So my advice is as follows—look to see if there are any refundable options, and if so, book now. If there aren’t any refundable options, go for resale tickets in April, and literally be prepared to book your accommodations milliseconds after getting resale tix. I remember within a day or so after the resale, just about everything was sold out.
Been to Glastonbury 3 times, this year will be my 4th. Shooting for Tipis this time, which is what I did my first year. Ziggucamp was great, but a bit far.
Happy to answer any more Qs you might have—feel free to shoot me a DM.
For the resale...."coach + ticket packages on Thursday 16th April 2020 followed by a general admission resale on Sunday 19th April 2020". Also, note there is a max of 4 tickets for the resale -vs- 6 in the Oct sale.

Any more on Ziggucamp? We decided to go that way this time. Getting a 6 person tent made the option fairly reasonable compared to other Off sites.

Macca and T Swift are two huge tickets. This is going to sell ridiculously well )even though Macca tours almost every year)
this event also sells out instantly every year, not really a concern about ticket sales
The instant sell out has only been a thing this decade barely. 2010 was the last year it took so long to sell out you couldve bought tickets the week of the festival. After that it just took off and never looked back.

Aside from the distance, Ziggu was great. Tents are nice, showers and toilets are quality. Food was even half decent. But it’s just a damn trek to get back to the camp at the end of the day/night. 45+ min of walking to the shuttle from much of the festival grounds. The walk was just brutal after a late night at the SE corner.

The entirety of the decade does not constitute the word barely, fwiw
2010 was around the last time Coachella still sold over a few days too.

For the people who are planning to travel throughout Europe, I heard Macca is planning to do some more concerts in June. I saw that he already announced (?) four dates in France at the end of May. I got to know that he's in play for one date in Belgium, so that's exciting.
Yeah, I mean it sold out in 27 minutes 6 weeks ago if you didnt notice. And that was without anyone announced.

Over the course of 50 years, barely seems about right. Coachella 2010 was the first year they sold 3 day tickets only and lots of people thought it wouldnt work, then it did, and now we’re here.
Edit: for those that are getting ready for the worthy view sale on thursday, there is now another option. Sticklinch, it is west of the grounds, and will have pre erected camping options. The trade off is the long ass walk to get to anything, instead of the hill.

We may do this if all else fails. But for Cap'n Mac and I it’s a little bit more than just seeing Macca (I’ve seen him 6 times, Jack 3).
Our love story for anyone who gaf... lol
The conversation that led to us dating was about Glasto & a Paul rumor. Then we started talking about how Paul on the Pyramid stage is like festival goalz and joked about a dream lineup of Paul • Bowie • Prince. This was the start of an 8 hour conversation that eventually ended in us awkwardly deciding to date long distance, and obviously my eventual move to Sydney to be with him. We got married last year.
We’re also doing Europe next year as a delayed honeymoon. So seeing Paul, at Glasto, on our honeymoon would be a really special, sentimental way to bring everything full circle.
