one less day they have to pay for cops, vendors, security, etc on what is easily the least revenue generating day. Also might cut down the number of people that dip out early sunday too because 4 days is a lot for a lot of people.
people will be rightfully pissed if ticket prices go up and they cut stuff, though
Yeah and filling 4 days of a festival well in this current festival environment is almost impossible. Even a massive fest like Lolla hasnt been able to do it

Honestly, I'd be pretty disappointed if we lost the Thursday. It's just such a chill day with the smaller crowd. Spreading arrivals between Wednesday-Friday is great for traffic.

I think cutting out Wednesday and Thursday would be smart. They could use the money that they would've spent on those days towards improving the lineup.

Pearl Jam | Frank Ocean | Gorillaz | Tame Impala | Sia Bassnectar | Cardi B | Kygo | Run The Jewels | Pretty Lights Cage The Elephant | Paramore | Interpol | Young The Giant TV On The Radio | Matt & Kim | Griz | Mac Miller | Zhu Danny Brown | Milky Chance | Adventure Club | Tune-Yards
Pearl Jam dream is over for this fest now that’s its completely AEG. They completely hate AEG
It probably doesn't mean anything but AEG Presents has a Pearl Jam artist page on their site. I don't think they would have that up there if they haven't worked with AEG. I know the band worked with LN to win a contract from AEG to renovate Key Arena, but I don't think they are 100% opposed to working with AEG for shows though.

Not sure if I missed an official announcement anywhere, but apparently AEG/Goldenvoice (or whomever) informed local agencies that this will be going back to a 3 day festival next year.

That kind of sucks, but in a way I guess I’m not surprised. Can I still show up and camp on Wednesday and dick around for two days?

I'm all for them cutting down a day. I'd assume Thursday will still be utilized as early camping check in, at least for the premier camping and probably still have some sort of pre-party Thursday night. Then Friday through Sunday should hopefully have a beefed up lineup. I also hope the lineup next year goes back to a traditional 3 headliner bill and the undercard gets some much needed improvements.
Side note, I'm hoping when the lineup drops it is already broken down by day, like Coachella and Hangout.

You may be the only one there for a few days, and then what would be the fun in that?

Going back to a 3 headliner bill would be smart. It would allow them to use that money towards the undercard.

There’s nothing definite as of this moment. At least that’s the update I was given earlier today from AEG.
if they cut a day to have a beefier 3 day budget you would imagine they go after a macca level act again.
Bruce Springsteen - Arcade Fire - Childish Gambino - Travis Scott - Tame Impala
Arcade Fire just doesn’t have the drawing power anymore to be a #2. Plus, they’ll probably be inactive around that time. I’d be disappointed if they were #2.
I’d love to see Tame, but they were here in 2016 and I think 2020 is a more realistic timeline. Vampire Weekend would be a good alternative though.

(Going back to three day)
Fri:- Bruce Springsteen - Sat: - Childish Gambino - Sun: -Arcade Fire
That would be enough. It may be true AF doesn't pull as much anymore, but they've never played FF and would fit nice at the end of a first line with a big budget Bruce and very current Gambino. Probably wishful thinking, it'll be Travis Scott and some repeats

I like your mock though. But I think Tame is going to be a headliner on their next run, and I doubt Gorillaz will be active after their fall tour.
Damon was just saying in an interview that he’s got another Gorillaz album ready but thinks it’s too soon to release it or something like that. They could easily do 3-5 festivals next year.
I feel like the gorillas could always do one offs. As much as I love their music, it always pretty simple enough that they can pull reliable session musicians to fill and Damon just does his thing.
