I noticed, it was one of the reasons for voting the way I did in the runoff. Granted there was no perfect way to do that with the vote spread.
But I do feel like in situations like that people feel pressure to bump others up and even things out. I don't recall many 3-2-2- situations that reversed themselves and ended up with totally new folks in a runoff? Could be wrong. It just seems like when this escalation happens it's pretty much setting the upcoming runoff in stone.
That is exactly why I didn't move someone to a 2. Also because there is frequently pressure from players to "not throw a vote away" and actually advance things to a run-off. Meh. You guys are insatiable.

I'm not so sure Zig would have been toast there but I see what you mean. Personally, I'd rather keep the person I know for sure will participate and is pretty darn good at narrowing down mafia. No offense to Kanye but I don't have anything to go off of with him. We fight a lot but I find it helps me to have talkative folks like Zig to bounce ideas off of.
ZIG is in the runoff because he decided he gets to be the arbiter of how many people we have in the runoff and who gets bumped to 3. And probably because, if he’s town, a mafia wants him dead.
Kanye is in the runoff as a newb, being voted in by the three most experienced players in this game, SFA, LLL, and LD.
I also don’t like that ZIG becomes a free vote if the runoff advances to Kanye/ZIG.
Not that I’ve got something against Pablo, but I think someone should move from Kanye to Pablo to free up more votes for the next runoff. (As is, we already know where ZIG would vote, so it’s a waste for one player who’d be left to vote).

Honestly I’d feel better about a Kanye vs Pablo runoff. Echoing what jaz said I feel like zig is being voted for based on his play style (and his name apparently).
Realistically, Kanye is not going to get voted out here, period. I would move my vote to avoid letting a new player get voted out first round, and others on him would too. So, if Kanye ends ups in the last runoff, it will almost assuredly be the other player going out. Whoever we decide to send in with Kanye is gone. So we are basically deciding if we want to keep Pablo or Zig here.

I wouldn’t say it was a bad strategy but I think he should have moved to someone else before the deadline once it was clear no one was playing his game.
I think you and everyone knows that if I push someone to 3 votes and nothing happens I would shift my vote back to preserve a 4way. What isn’t going noticed is the fact that both Thor and LLL switched their votes to bump two additional players to 3 votes, effectively eliminating my ability to recreate the original 4way. Especially from someone like Thor who even said he didn’t like that I was being the “arbiter” of how many people were going to be in the runoff when his vote change effectively sealed the fact that we would move to a 4way.
Potent complains when D1R1 is quiet. Then complains when I push my vote around to cause action. It’s not like this is something out of the ordinary for me to do.
I complain because I don't like the way you do it. That shouldn't have an affect on you, you will still play however you want. But what I was trying to say is that you should have switched your vote to bring someone else into the runoff instead of upping your vote to narrow the runoff. I personally find it more beneficial for you to switch the participants in a 4 way runoff, than for you to narrow it to 3. In the case of this game, it really didn't get anyone talking until it was too late to reverse that.

I didn't have any "intention" for anything when I voted for him originally. I wanted to expand the runoff and make sure that we had at least three and not just 2.

No it is being a nice ambassador for Mafia. I understand that you guys maybe don't get that, but old school history is that we don't vote off new players in the first round because we want them to come back and don't want to be dicks.

I just think it’s hypocritical you’re mad that people voted for Kanye when it was your vote that gave everyone the opportunity.
I’m not mad at anyone. I just don’t want new players voted out first round. Go back and actually read pg two. I actually intended to expand the run-off to 4. However, I had stated my post and then was distracted by some patients who needed to talk to a nurse. I finished my post and then saw that Thor had voted in the meantime, pushing Pablo and Zig into a runoff of only 2 people. Kanye was pretty much my only choice to ensure a runoff of more than 2, since I was not going to be getting on after that and am not psychic so I don’t know if anyone was going to be willing to make any moves after that and I believe that bigger runofffs are better for finding patterns down the road.

Ummmmm. I said I would try to make sure that he didn't get voted off because I would move my vote anyways. Instead of waiting around, possibly letting him get into the last run-off and then doing it, I did it now. All of this, if you read my posts are pretty clear. Since it is obvious you are not reading, or if you are, you are purposely being an antagonist, my confidence in my decision to try to make sure it is you in the run-off is growing.

I'm not sure how you can be so confident in what other people will do with their votes. It makes perfect sense to vote a novice off to me.
