Saw Nilufer and Men I Trust this year, I’ll check Kevin Garrett out.
ACL did really well this year, considering how dreadful the festival landscape this year has been in general. If I wasn't already hitting Shaky Knees this year, I would give serious consideration to going weekend 2.
11/28 Raveonettes (Copenhagen, Denmark) 12/4 Interpol 12/14 LCD Soundsystem 12/31 Billy Joel 1/25 The Killers (Las Vegas) 2/12 Jack White 2/25 Father John Misty 3/6 Inhaler 4/10 Franz Ferdinand 4/17 Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds 5/15 Amyl & the Sniffers 5/18 Fontaines D.C. 9/1 Oasis
Fuckin hell idk how but I’m gonna have to at least try to get back down to make this happen. Don’t *love* the headliners, especially since I’m seeing Gambino & Cardi at Roo, but I’d be excited to see literally everyone on the top 2 (non-headliner) lines. Rosalía and Natalia Lafourcade have both been on my must-see list for a minute. Tyler Childers, Tierra Whack, Bruce Hornsby. Some great stuff lower down as well.
Good thing is I’ve got no shortage of friends who will def let me crash at their place in Austin, so just a matter of finding the time and money for a flight.

Acl also has the advantage of a later announcement. Many of the artists that are smaller with January releases have since gotten bigger and they still booked them for relatively cheap. Also announcing after Coachella helps them too because some artists really break through there
I'm thinking Weekend 2 is gonna be the move for me. Been wanting to see Denzel Curry for a while now. I prefer Cardi B over Robyn, but I'll see Cardi at Roo and I can sell my Robyn ticket to make it a bit more economical.
So convince me on Weekend 1 v. Weekend 2? Wk2 I have a football conflict that would mean I can't arrive till 4pm on Sunday (or I'll just be generally annoyed all day), but I would prefer Robyn > Cardi B. Then again, I probably would skip Cardi B for another headliner altogether.
On the undercard, what are the value props for W1 vs. W2?
TX ou is W2, fewer Brads and Chads.
Worse weather, though. I've experienced some real crummy rain during W2 before - last time Thom came alone, Day 3 was washed away.

Honestly now glad i waited on this. I can’t take off weekend 2 due to work and also trying to separate some time between this and voodoo funds wise but Denzel Curry i hate missing. So since w1 it is off first glance for me there a lot i wanna see and idk how i will do headliners just yet but so far:
GNR Mumford Gambino The Cure( don’t hate me not a big fan but not dumb enough to miss them either) Billie Tame The Raconteurs GCJ Thom Yorke James Blake 21 Savage Tyler Childers Rebelution Jenny Lewis The Kooks Judah and the Lion (my fiancé) Misterwives Idles Pink Sweat$ Black Pistol Fire
I gotta look into the rest of the lineup with some of those artist who else should i check out?

I also didn’t know everyone hated GNR 🤷♂️. I saw them twice last go around and liked it a lot both times. Better than Metallica was at Orion and better than The Cure were at Riot Fest.
Interested in GnR, The Cure, Billie Eilish, Tame Impala, Robyn, Kacey Musgraves, Gary Clark, Lizzo, Thom Yorke, James Blake, Kali Uchis, Rosalia, Kaytranada, Sigrid, Tierra Whack, Idles, Gogo Penguin, Still Woozy, Cherry Glazerr, Shura, The Comet is Coming, Chris Shiflett, Flamingosis. Need to do a bit more research.

Anyone else notice how almost zero EDM is on this line up. Two years ago you had Willie Nelson flanked by 2 major EDM artists on both sides of the line up.

Will weekend 2 sell out right away or can I wait on the decision?
W2 didn't sell out last year till months after the festival. I want to say like 5 weeks before October. And this line up isn't screaming of immediate sell out as I don't see The Cure/GnR/Robyn pushing so many must buy tickets.

Generally you have enough time to wait. Last year didn't sell out instantly, and while I think this top line will sell, I think Paul and Metallica was pretty massive, probably bigger, and it did not.
Pretty top heavy and not as diverse, but they did really really well again. Still think Coachella beats it because of depth/format (you just see way more music at Coachella), but this has me thinking about trying to get out there for sure
ACL putting Coachella on notice at the very least. The Cure at 4 and Tame at 6/7 is wild
