Off topic but next year my friends and I are trying to move to Austin. If anyone can suggest any good apartments/houses to check out that will be affordable to a bunch of 23 year olds please shoot me a message!

Are these your band members as well?
I play with them but they have their own band that is main priority for them

Good luck. Austin is no longer cheap. You will probably have to go pretty far radius north, east, south or west to find any deals. Downtown, S Lamar, Rainey and Congress are all way more expensive than a few years ago. The east side just off I-35 as well is gentrifying. Best bet is going to be Buda or Dripping Springs to start. And keep in mind that while Austin does have okay bus service in town, you will need transportation to get around somewhat efficiently. If there are 4 of you and you can find a 4BR house around 2,000/month, that might be your best bet to be within 10 miles of the heart.
we were looking just a little bit ago and round rock wasn't so expensive, but it's not exactly living in austin.
Yeah that’s north. If they didn’t have terrible north-south traffic flows, it wouldn’t be bad. It can take forever during peak time. It’s not quite as bad as L.A. traffic, but standstills are frequent. Also Austinites from town and S. Austin tease that as Dallas South. We actually stayed in an up and coming area NNW for ACL that I hadn’t been before. It was Mopac (loop 1) and then some intersecting highway off that.
Youre 23 so maybe you’d get a kick out of living in west campus. I pay $735 for a studio apartment with covered parking and love it. Im 24 so its definitely a great area for me for a few more years. There’s a room or two still available at the place im at. Then theres a few similar options in the same part of town.
I echo what everyone is saying. It’s expensive everywhere close enough and it’s only getting higher with Google and Apple opening massive offices here in the next two years. I lucked out and found a two bed, two bath house with someone for only $750. I’m right in Clarksville off Lamar so it’s a 3 min drive to 6th. A deal like that is damn near impossible to find so good luck.
