Yeah, Austin has some talkers, it's definitely the 2nd worst part after the chairs.
100% a major issue. I’ve been going to ACL since 2005 and I stopped buying three day passes about 5 years ago bc I was tired of paying money to hear drunk people talk. I’d rather spend the money to see my favorite bands on their own tours.
Y’all going see Jenny Lewis or RL? I’m sure they will be fine. If you catch the first 45 of GNR, you’ll still get to see some of the end of Thom Yorke if you get over there right before Tame starts. ACL sets usually start within 5 minutes of scheduled time (apparently not Cardi B this year). And Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes (the end was the best) was kind of a perfect segue into Tame Impala.

Going to see Jenny Lewis I’m just missing Thom completely I’m personally not into Thom...i know don’t hate me just never have been.
For sure. Obviously see what you want to see. He’s always been great when I’ve seen him and Radiohead but I don’t listen to that much except live. The argument for it was that it’s probably the most artistic show at this year’s festival (particularly the middle and ending). So id highly recommend even if you leave GnR 5 minutes early and just catch the last 5 minutes waiting for Tame Impala to come on, you probably won’t regret it.

After looking at Tame and GNR setlist thinking of making Friday Tyler Childers>The Raconteurs>Jenny Lewis> End of Thom Yorke> Tame first 45 minutes> and End of GNR last hour. How packed do y’all think the stage for Tame compared to GNR is btw that could have me rotate as well if it’s easier to get to Tame vs GNR
If you're at Yorke, you're essentially already at Tame, and the better parts of Tame's set (Let it Happen to open, Elephant laser show, Apocalypse Dreams) are in the first half, more than likely. No reason to cross the festival grounds and then come back to catch the end of Tame, imo. Just hang back-left toward the end of Thom and you'll be in the thick of the Tame crowd. Also, with the chairs only and stuff, it should be reasonably easy to get center-crowd for Tame, as well.
Also who saw the Cure last weekend? What were their last 2 songs? I’m catching all of Gambino but would love to see just a bit of the Cure. Especially Pictures of You

awesome thanks i was thinking about after apocalypse dreams headed To GNR and hopefully just catch some hits so thanks for the inputs first time going to this fest and this big of a fest I’m pretty sure since I’ve never done any of the big 4 so just really trying to be prepared lol
what did everyone do 3-4 and 5-6 Sunday, pretty wide open there. Saw Banks at DfN it was pretty meh, FISHER seems to be a 50/50 on fun and too cheese, know basically nothing about the rest.

had some beer in the beer hall in front of the giant fans.

Catch the end of Yola?
Caamp is pretty basic americana, might pair well with a cool drink.

1. The Cure - My second time seeing them, and definitely a great time again. Crowd was perfect too - not as claustrophobic as Lizzo's. 2. Thom Yorke - I was looking forward to seeing some of the new songs from Anima, and he delivered. Wasn't as crowded as expected - most were either at GNR or waiting for Tame. 3. Rosalía - Simply great time - I hope she'll play again in the US next year. 4. James Blake - I wasn't sure if his music would translate well in a festival setting, but it definitely did. 5. IDLES - I was upset that they didn't play Colossus, but regardless, it was another fun set.
HM: Lizzo, Weyes Blood, Natalia Lafourcade, and Tierra Whack
Some notes: - ACL should find some ways to introduce more shaded areas to the festival site, instead of creating new useless ticket options like GA+. It was very hot all weekend, and it's not like the first time it's happening. It was better than last year though. - That T-Mobile lounge thing was cool. I could watch Tierra Whack from the side stage because of that and it was a very nice experience. - Weird that both Rosalía and James Blake played Barefoot in the Park, but neither guested in each other's set. These kind of guest appearances happen more on Coachella, I guess. - Crowd was huge for Billie Eilish, but it was really hard to hear the sound from back. One of the weaker parts of ACL, which was apparent in many other sets. I was on the left front side for Lizzo, barely able to breathe, I haven't seen such a crowd anywhere else. - Waited for Cardi B for 30 minutes before deciding to leave. I'm still pissed at myself I didn't get tickets for weekend 2. Well, lesson learned. - Other than that, food and drinks were on spot per usual. Not sure if I'd go back again though, time will tell.
Well if ACL has been doing that for years then I can only assume they've got a perfect system worked out and that the chairs definitely aren't a point of contention.
What's with the chairs people keep mentioning? Are people allowed to bring those collapsible chairs into ACL?
Yeah, but it’s really not an issue. The no chair zone extends pretty far back at most stages. ACL, as you know, has people of all ages and abilities. So it’s fair that people who need those should have them and an area to sit in them. I’m more I’m going to just sit in the grass because I go week 1, but you could see like if it rained or whatever, it would be bad ass to have a chair.
I can see how a boomer might not be annoyed by it (lol)
Lol. I don’t ever carry chairs. I’m usually on the run trying to see a million things or sitting on the ground. Also obviously you can get up the sides at ACL so you can get around chair sections.
