Amanda Palmer (Dresden Dolls), Amyl & the Sniffers (opened for Gizz in the US), The Beths, Haelos, Laura Jane Grace (Against Me!) only ones outside of Oh Sees and a couple of the local ones that I know.
Oh man I missed a handful. Wyclef led that Prince Tribute in auditorium shores in 2017 I think. Good to see Haelos back. I just got into them after they wrapped up a US tour at ACL. I heard the Beths on the radio and I think I saw the Seratones at Hangout one year.

Also, I saw Xetas at a local show recently and they bring it. They wouldn't be a must see, but I'd catch them at a mid-day set at SxSW. Hopefully they open for someone hot and get exposure.

haelos is good, we were at Roo or something last time they came through town.
mainly its looking increasingly likely i won't make the Volstead oh sees shows coming up, so glad this is on the radar.
SXSW has a brand new 10 story office being completed down Guadalupe and 15th. Should be finished by next year. And also confirms the fact that SXSW isn't going anywhere for awhile.

SXSW has been growing as a whole but the music portion shrinking, or rather returning to its roots of bringing in unknown artists to the forefront. The number 1st, 2nd and 3rd line festival line acts have all but dried up but it still offers the chance to see super intimate performances of other larger acts.

On do512 the Hotel Vegas showcases are up (w/o lineups yet). Its all the same ones as every other year, Levitation/Desert Daze/Burger/etc Those are always a great time especially if you dont have a badge. I expect Oh Sees to headline at least one. Also i really hope The Comet Is Coming is down here for sxsw. Theyd get some exposure i think, and fit the vibe of a Mohawk showcase.
Can somebody explain to me how getting into shows works? I’m on the website and it looks like the music pass is like 1,000$. That can’t be right. If all I want to do is run around town and see concerts (like those oh sees shows) how do I do it?
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
