W1 sound issues might’ve finally pushed us to W2 this year. Gotta see what the group says but I’m pushing for it. It helps that W2 is as early as its ever been this year.
I think, this year, the only set that had sound issues, that I went to, was Ariana Grande during that whole Nicki thing. Other than that all my sets were smooth OTHER than H.E.R. and Billie Eilish starting super late. I've done three W1s and one W2, the grass, or lack thereof is why I can't do W2 again.. sucks having hayfever allergies.

So Ariana...and also HER and Billie haha. I had those three plus Lizzo (which also happened W2) plus Gesaffelstein, plus Weezer (Chili). It just happens more Weekend 1, and it’s unfortunate.
Does anyone know if I can buy just passes on this sale, and then add a camping pass in regular sale? I know they decoupled the camping from the actual tickets a year or two ago, but want to be 100% sure that's allowed before missing out on a camping pass.
I recommend buying camping passes way later on, via Offer Up or something. You can get it way cheaper then.
It depends. Weekend 2 camping was over $200 secondhand this year while weekend 1 was closer to $50. Granted W2 had Sunday service, but there was a pretty big difference in prices before that was announced.

Honestly I've been both weekends many times (as I'm sure tons of others here and on the sub have), and I've finally settled into only wk2 from now on for a few simple reasons:
1. Can prepare for conflicts with the stream. Having a stream watching party is a great way to enjoy a weekend at home before the insanity of the festival too. 2. Feedback from the online communities during wk1 is invaluable (lines, best/worst food, set feedback, crowd size, ease of travel around the venue, possibility of splitting sets, etc) 3. Set times adjustments are usually positive for wk2 4. Fewer sound issues 5. Can review setlists from wk1 to prepare set splits
I feel overall more prepared to enjoy the music going wk2, yes some of the surprise is gone and less grass is sad, but even just reason #4 is enough in my eyes.

Oof.
Yeah I think I'll just do regular passes during Advanced, and snag camping during general sale vs any reseller. Appreciate the advice everyone.

Having done bothchella a few times I've always felt like it gets dustier weekend 2, but not to the point where it had a negative impact on my experience.

Realized a few members of our group have a commitment Weekend 1, so we're 100% doing Weekend 2 this year. First time since 2012. Please don't be 107 degrees each day, Indio.

This is my take too. It’s dusty, but not so much more so it really makes differences.
wait so there's no longer a requirement for your camping pass to be linked to your wristband? did i read that right?
No, but that was pretty much a scare tactic for scalpers the past 8 years. I had bought camping passes 2nd hand before they said it was okay and never had a problem. Maybe other people did though.
With regard to the lack of grass weekend 2 -- is it notably dustier? For those who've done both, do you struggle more with allergies and such?
I have hayfever, so my experience with dust is going to be different from most people, even other people with less extreme allergies. But I got EXTREMELY sick after Weekend 2 (2016). 2017 and 2018 (both W1) I got a bit sick afterwards but it wasn't anything too bad compared to what I normally get in Spring. W1 2019, I didn't get sick at all. The year that I did W2, Friday was really windy, and I went to a lot of sets with tons of pits to create more dust kick up that year (Rancid, RTJ, Vince Staples, Death Grips, etc.). So that may have factored into it. But it was so bad that I'm not going to chance it again. Seeing pictures of the field W2 this year gave me nightmares lol, straight saw dust.
W2 Pros: Generally, crowd is more into the music (2019 exception, the crowds were great W1)
Planning sets and conflicts are way, way easier
Less technical difficulties
Acts seem more relaxed and fine tuned playing the music, probably shook off W1 nerves
More surprise guests, in my small experience
W1 Pros: Grass
More excitement/buzz in the atmospere
Not knowing what to expect from acts going into their sets (Stage set up, setlist, etc.)
Having your sets live streamed/have some songs posted on their YT channel so you can rewatch the set that you were at (they stream a bit of W2, but it's nothing like W1)
Feeling of being 1st (That kind of goes a long way for me lol)
Considering how well received BLACKPINK is on the lineup from almost everybody (Reddit, social media, forums, journalism etc), would Coachella actually considered putting someone like BTS on the lineup? If so, would they sub or are they too big for that and would they have to headline? A year or so ago, I would’ve thought no way that would happen but considering Coachella’s international shift (or more accurately, pop’s international shift), I’m not so sure now.
BTS would headline and nothing else at this point. 6 sold out stadium shows here and the audience cant get enough. It would be good enough to make it a huge curveball and you would see their fanbase drive up resale tickets back to Beyonce levels. And they would try to sneak in. Theyre doing a beatles type of run right now with releasing new material every 6 months and selling ou every show in no time.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but at this point, Coachella needs BTS far more than BTS needs Coachella. They're one of the few acts that would actually have a guaranteed significant impact on ticket sales.
Lol. Good marketing but total BS. They don’t actually care about loyalty. Just another way to try to drive sales.
Given the hellish experience my crew has had the last few years trying to get W1 tickets, if the loyalty sale makes that easier for people, it's not BS. (This is actually one of the reasons I originally proposed we switch to W2...just so much easier to get the tickets.)

I literally go weekend 1 because it fucks up my lungs so bad on weekend 2. No allergies or anything. I went weekend 1 this year and it was dustier than usual. Wore 2 surgical masks to cover my mouth everyday and it still got to me. Even when I wore 3 on sunday it still was tough. The pretty grass and less dust makes weekend 1 more worth it for me

This is something I always disagree with big time. If you pick good acts then 99% of the time a good crowd follows with it. I have never experienced a bad crowd in my 3 coachellas at either weekend because I go see good music. Also since weekend 1 is as people say "just a bunch of celebrities and instagram models taking pictures", you really think the celebrities and models are gonna go see acts like Yves Tumor or Perfume or Aphex Twin? Hell no they're going to see Khalid and Zedd and shit, so by that logic it means that the great shows will be less crowded since theres allegedly soooo many celebrities and instagram models

Aaaaaand the loyalty presale is a shitshow. So, yeah. I'll go with BS now. (though of course: can't drive sales if people can't buy tickets)
waited in line, got to the checkout page but it took to long too load so now I’m waiting in the queue again with my phone about to die. Haven’t budged in fifteen minutes. Love the process!
