No, it's because Igor is huge. It's his most "critically acclaimed" album and fans are head over heels about it. Tyler wouldn't have less draw than Gambino or Tame did, around the same ball park. Tyler used to double headline Flognaw and play twice in the same weekend, there's nothing wrong with dropping an ego and letting Kanye headline your festival lol. And can we stop with the venues thing? Tame Impala just played at The Fox Theater Pomona of all places. I don't think Tyler will headline 2020 at all, but I think at this point he is headliner or bust, he's too big to sub. After a year where we got 2 replacement acts and Gambino as the only planned headliner, having Tyler as the "weak" headliner wouldn't be so bad if they hit the other two headliners out of the ball park. Ex: Tyler Friday, Coldplay Saturday, Rihanna Sunday wouldn't look bad at all.
How is he too big to sub when plenty of people that have subbed (and lower) are bigger than him by pretty much every metric? If your argument is that he could sub like Tame Impala did, being one of the smallest headliners in festival history because of someone else dropping out, then sure? Plenty of artists not ready to headline fit that bill.
If Gambino was a headliner and Chance the Rapper is considered as "too big to sub", Tyler would also fit into that group. It's a very light group who are barely over the line of a headliner, but they are headliners. Like I said, I don't expect Coachella to book Tyler at all for 2020 and probably not until his next album. Because he's headliner or bust and they won't book him as a headliner, so it's bust. Also, subs the past couple of years have been VERY light. Janelle Monae, Solange, Khalid, HAIM, SZA, Odesza.. Tyler in 2020 is a grade above them for sure. There have been bigger subs in the past but the trajectory of these line ups are trending away from huge subs.
Kevin Morby show in Ann Arbor was great last night. Would have been a cool early day set for this year.
When I saw he was playing The Arc I was pretty jealous
Great venue in a great spot ran by great people. His opening act was his backing band led by Sam Cohen, who are great as well. Not even a few chatty Kathy's behind us could put a damper on the show.
Tyler, by his own admission, went over poorly with the crowd when he played in 2018. Obviously it's a unique situation with the Beyonce campers, but if most of the crowd who went to see him last time didn't even want to see him, it doesn't seem to indicate a strong need for him to headline.

Most of that crowd didn't want to see ANYONE who wasn't Beyonce. They ruined the entire Mainstage that day. Every artist who played the Main that day deserves a mulligan in terms of crowd reception. Tyler visibly lost steam about 3 songs in once you just knew that the crowd didn't know any of his songs, and from there it seemed like he didn't put any effort into the performance. I DO think it was a bad move on Tyler to play Flowerboy in it's entirety without digging into any of his other albums, though. It's just the fact that the Hive knew Beyonce was playing an entire year early. That's half of the reason why her camp was so huge. It won't happen but Tyler would make a pretty solid #3 headliner if they go big with the other two. Tyler + Rihanna + Coldplay sounds a lot better than Gambino/JT/Kanye (before replacements) or The Weeknd/Beyonce/Eminem (in terms of diversity).

From the survey, lineup-wise I think they’re just looking for undercard input and that’s it. If they just ask for 5 artists they’ll get headliner-size suggestions and if they ask for undercards only then people who don’t like the current headliner direction will be upset they aren’t taking suggestions for them.

I think all information is important. If 50% of attendees from 2019 want Metallica that would tell GV to raise the offer. If 50% want Rihanna and she actually drops an album this year I feel GV will be propelled to stay on the path of a pop headliner.

Sure, but maybe my survey will be the thing that finally gets Coachella to book the Dixie Chicks.

I'm super happy they are sending this out. Something worth thinking about.....do we really think the "mainstream" crowd will take the time to fill this out? Seems doubtful in my eyes. I think their responses will skew towards the die-hards.
Love that they are asking for undercard input...My guess with headliners is that its more about ballpark genre and "make up" of the top 3 than acts themselves. The fact that they are even attempting to listen to the attendees for feedback is pretty awesome IMO.

Does anyone know if I can buy just passes on this sale, and then add a camping pass in regular sale? I know they decoupled the camping from the actual tickets a year or two ago, but want to be 100% sure that's allowed before missing out on a camping pass.

Yes you can add on camping (and shuttles) later.
IF there are still camping passes available. W1 sometimes sells out of some camping options during the presale, does it not?

W1 sound issues might’ve finally pushed us to W2 this year. Gotta see what the group says but I’m pushing for it. It helps that W2 is as early as its ever been this year.

I recommend buying camping passes way later on, via Offer Up or something. You can get it way cheaper then.
