I’d assume probably not. Usually 2nd line artists have new releases between May/June to a month or so after their Coachella appearance unless they’re a DJ or legacy act. Her album coming out now puts her outside that window for 2021 and she honestly just should’ve been on the lineup for this year.
Although who knows what will happen next year given all the cancellations.
Ask Halsey what she was doing 2nd line in 2016 when her album came out August of 2015. Billie was where she was last year without a new album announcement, same for Cardi. Yes, those 2 ended up releasing late March/April but not at the time of the poster popping up.
Halsey's album - 8 months old by Coachella 2016 Billie Eilish's album - 1 month old by Coachella 2019 Cardi B's album - < a week old by Coachella 2018 Dua Lipa's album - 13 months old by Coachella 2021
If we're going by history, 2nd liners for 2021 should have an album out from June 2020 and beyond. The artists you named are good examples of artists releasing albums right within that window. Dua Lipa is not.

Dont think doing this for this year works for COVID time. She was going to tour Europe in the next couple of months, and the US in late 2020. Now she is touring Europe Jan 2021 (as it stands now), so she could pretty easily be in the US in the spring which would leave Coachella in play.
Has anyone who put in a weekend swap request on Lyte had success? I put mine in (trading W1 for W2) a couple weeks ago and haven't heard anything. I wonder if they're just pausing all of that activity for now. (And I wonder if I should cancel my swap request and ask for a refund instead.)

Yeah, but we now have to account for a lot of time lost for anyone that was in that time frame. Even some of the lower line acts on the poster this year released music this last month and now have to wait til October. I think You hit the reset button for 18 months til things get back on track to the festival season. ( if they do ) To coincide with the crowded September thats supposed to happen its going to be an insanely busy release schedule to go with that. You figure December Will have a lot of new albums because theyre just waiting for things to improve.
Maybe Dua wanted a sub spot or nothing at all? There isnt even a sign of what kind of venues she would be booking here for the tour she is gearing up for, but its probably arenas since she did multiple nights in mid size indoor venues on her previous tour.
I think the usual booking patterns are going to be thrown out the window for 2020/2021. The entire music industry has been upended, and things won’t go back to normal any time soon.
hopefully this means 100 Gecs will be headlining 2021

Of course the standard may be thrown out the window for 2020 and 2021 due to all the cancellations. Hard to tell what things will look like for October and next April, I'm just stating what to expect under normal circumstances (which of course we're not under).
I'm guessing Dua wanted sub and Coachella couldn't accommodate that with Lana, Flume and supposedly MCR already booked. Someone mentioned on Reddit that something happened between Dua and GV/AEG in the past but who knows if that's true.
If Coachella 2020 were to not go on, I do hope they just hit the reset button and book a new lineup for 2021 with just a handful of crossovers that would make sense for 2021. It would be a bummer to lose this lineup but it would be odd to move on with a year-old lineup.

Half and half I say.. I can see half of the second line not being as relevant next year. I already see Megan losing steam right now. Caesar and Elfman aren't necessarily drawing tons anyways. A year of Dababy not switching his flow will run dry.. 60% of the second line can be replaced. I stand by Frank being the only headliner that has to be protected because he's the only Coachella exclusive as of right now.
Anybody still not get a pass for weekend 2? Waiting on 2, one was waiting list, the other 2nd general sale after lineup drop.
Got my weekend 2 passes a week before it hit the fan. Layaway sale.
III Points announced their date changes and line up is out. Caribou is on the Friday so that would easily have to have them be both Sundays for Coachella. Same goes for Omar Apollo.
6/9: Gary Clark Jr.? 6/23: Brittany Howard? 7/13: elrow 7/20: Mt. Joy 7/28: Justice 7/31: Romy 8/2: The Marias? 8/18: Mitski? 8/19: Taylor Swift 8/23: Crumb? 8/29: Pearl Jam? 9/5: L'Impératrice 9/7: Bruce Springsteen? 9/12: Pearl Jam? 9/23: Khruangbin 9/26: Charli XCX/Troye Sivan? 9/28-9/29: All Things Go 9/30: Vampire Weekend
Earliest would be right after the May 1st deadline for refunds i think. The do have a lot of time to sort out all the acts which is gonna be a pain between them and ACL. Luckily theyre not in that mess of September.
Orville Peck has an April 13th 2021 date posted and conflicts during Octoberchella so I’m guessing he’s rebooked for 2021 instead.
To go along with that he has Hangout and Boston Calling on there as well. Which means those 2 will likely be making an announcement next week if theyre already rebooking artists for 2021.
July is my personal guess. By then we'll know if the coast is clear or not, they might not want to throw a new line up out there until things look probable. Also July line up to October festival is the same length as January line up to April festival.
New trailer for the movie. And itll be out at Noon pst next week

I hope they go into detail about 2010. First year mandatory 3 day. First 3 day sell out. Scanners not working. Sneaking in. Volcano. But the start of their reign in culture. And still in my top 3.
I hope they don't talk about the Tupac hologram for more than 2 minutes
Probably, but theyll talk about the idea and then show one of the songs from it. So thats 5 minutes. I hope Prince gets on there if his estate cleared the licensing.
