Just $150 after I called in a favor. We had a nagging fuel issue, and I didn't want to take five hours to get home since we had a guest in all the way from Korea. Got it fixed shortly afterwards!
You guys think I just simply don’t want to go to Coachella?
Just going to expand here since it probably isn’t obvious to everyone.
Coachella would end up costing me more than double what Bonnaroo does, and Bonnaroo is already a lot.
Bonnaroo is an annual reunion between myself and my brothers who live out of state, friends from highschool, and friends from college.
I can likely pull off coachella financially, but there is a 0% chance to uproot that entire group and get them to pay double when they experience significant financial insecurity in the summer just to make Roo happen.
With all of that said, I’m still trying to make Coachella work by myself to meet up with internet friends while taking off extra days a mere two-three months after receiving a significant promotion at work.
Going to Roo does not eliminate my possibility of going to Coachella, but even if it did, there would be a compelling financial argument to make for choosing Roo in addition to seeing all of my lifelong friends + brothers vs seeing none of them.
TLDR: The existence of Coachellas great lineups does not mean that I can’t wish for Roo’s lineup to be good.
bro if you hate bonnaroo so much why don't you just go to coachella we don't need your bad vibes on the farm anyway more room for me to dance
Bonnaroo, each year, is significantly more fun than I had at ACL 2018.
That's a weird thing about ACL. It's such a great event to go to and I try to go almost every year now since i have friends in Austin. It's great for the lineups, music, food, Zilker Park, etc., but it's not really that much what I'd consider to be "fun" especially not compared to local city festivals Voodoo and Buku which I also do every year. Their lineups aren't ever going to be ACL caliber (Buku is 1/4 the size), but ACL's fun isn't anywhere near them.
As for Bonnaroo, I sort of agree with Roobus that it's a lot of what you make it. It's not a completely blank canvas, but because you're basically posting up there for 4 days and maybe 5 nights, there is more time and possibilities to add what you want to the experience.
Coachella is way closer to Bonnaroo than ACL or Lolla. No real comparison there.
you mean in terms of overall fun factor? serious question i've lost track of the discussion.
In terms of “vibez.” It’s a different beast for sure, and there are lots of trade offs between Coachella and Bonnaroo as far as non-lineup factors, but fundamentally they’re both destination events with critically large contingents of campers. They’re much more similar than different.
One of these days, my wife and I would like to go to Coachella to just try it once and see for ourselves. I know the vibe of the whole festival wouldn't necessarily be our thing, but their stage production and art installations look downright incredible.
I finally convinced some friends to come to Roo with me in 2018 because we got super cheap tickets off stubhub and Facebook. By this point I had attended 10+ different festivals but none were as much fun as Roo. I was a bit nervous I had oversold the farm and all it’s magic but luckily I was wrong. They all had a blast. We all have different tastes in music as well. My best friend from middle school mainly listens to the radio and there’s always stuff he’s excited for that none of the other 3 in our group would ever see. Then my girlfriend and her best friend are big into edm, mostly stuff on Wakan, Tipper, Jade Cicada , aka “wook bass”. I enjoy a bit of it all but mostly boring indie bands. There’s no other camping festival on the east coast with the variety of music that Roo has. We leave every year with new favorite bands that we wouldn’t have known about it had not been for Roo. Also we all have wook tendencies and love being able to go till sunrise every night, you can’t get that at any other fest. So I thats why this year will be our third in a row and we’ve all bought presale this year for the first time we’ve gone as a crew.
"Why can't Roo get the acts that Coachella gets????"
Two different aspects . . . . The Coachella budget usually results in a good lineup and production. We'll take more of that. The Coachella Vibe is inferior and not desired.

let's be real, if we are posting on inforoo we all have an inner wook.
So if I'm understanding this thread correctly, Coachella can be summed up like this: everyone is fake, no one is really passionate about anything other than their own ambition, people will be nice to you only if they want something from you or otherwise will trample you under their boot, so everyone just walks around with the cold glassy eyes of methamphetamine/steroid dual addicts, their perfect bodies rippling with muscles, all plastic surgeried to the point where they are beyond beautiful but barely human anymore. As their outsides have been improved by technology and science, so have their insides died, to the point where they can no longer connect with other human beings, having lost all sense of community, and they no longer truly understand music or art. The reason they shove to get to the front is the one tiny piece of humanity left in them is screaming for a connection, and if they can only get way up to the front of the stage then maybe the closeness will enable them to feel again. To feel anything again.
Whereas at Bonnaroo everyone has shed their sense of self and achieved perfect oneness. How can I be concerned with myself, with my position at the concert, when my brothers and sisters standing next to me also need to see and hear? Rather then fight we can all join hands, my heart becomes your heart, your mind becomes my mind, because after all aren't we all in this together? Are we not all family born of Gaia, our one true mother? Are we not experiencing the purity together, the face of Horned God smiling with the thrill of the hunt, our unbridled sexuality not a thing to be ashamed of? Lets take back the forbidden fruit, and shed our garments! Love is light and light is love! For Earth is heaven, and always has been. We just couldn't see it until now!

That’s not too bad !!!!
I think I bought a car battery from a tow truck for like $300 at my first roo. $150 to tow a bus sounds like an amazing deal.

Plus Bonnaroo has late nights.
I haven’t done drugs in a long time, but reading this gave me an acid flashback.

Unless one of you people are the people from the podcast in disguise. Roobus already commented on it so I figured they would have said something about it being out there.
