I counted 16 acts im interested in before doing some research on the rest. any suggestions?
I like Chance, Black Keys, Rufus, Janelle, Wayne, Tash, Hot Chip, Die Antwoord, Oliver Tree (kind of), Polo and Pan, Lost Kings, Funk Hunters,PtM, Teskey Bros, Walk The Moon (kind of) Phantogram. Most of you know i have no interest in VW lol and Of Monsters and Men fall into that boat too.
This seems pretty much on par with the past lineups I've seen for this fest. Some of the standouts for me are:
Polo & Pan Hot Chip Vampire Weekend Die Antwoord
That middle section with the bigger names is pretty boring though. And I actually don't mind the headliners or the names below them... But we're seeing a lot of the better acts either at Osheaga (Janelle, Rufus, King Princess) or during their tours (Hot Chip, Vampire Weekend, etc.)
last year i counted 28 acts i liked after finding new stuff so if i can find 3-5 more new acts i didnt know itll be worth it. Last year the daily and single days went on sale May 15 so i can wait til then to decide.

It’s not terrible but since my first year was only 2 years ago and Chance headlined then but with muse and gorillaz i don’t mind having to miss this year as much now. If the lineup blew me away was gonna make it work but this didn’t do it. If i was close and Black keys portugal the man and of monsters and men was a day i would go then. There’s some other good acts but I’m really holding out my hope for ACL fully now. Really shocked at no modest mouse or Gary Clark jr tho.
I love: Of Monsters and Men, Phantogram, Lil Wayne, Tash Sultana, Banks, Gallant, Pink Sweat$ Also love Maggie Rodgers, Janelle, Eilish, Yung Bae but I just saw them at Coachella.
im coming around more on this after going through some more stuff and noticing some acts i like that i missed at first look. A lot of this undercard is so similar though with that indie electronic sound, so many of these blend all together.

50/50 on the lineup, and it's definitely not one of the best Life is Beautiful lineups. There are plenty of acts I like, but there's an equal amount of lame shit. That probably means something similar for ACL and Voodoo.
However, Desus and Kid Mero are on the lineup, and they rule.
dont know either. ill get to them today. Last years blows this away easily for me so glad I made it. It looks like im gonna end up interested in about 25 acts so thats pretty solid. Ive never seen Janelle, Wayne, Rufus so that goes a long way for me. Never seen Chance headline and i like the new songs that have been released so far.
Yeah. They have a hip late night TV show which has moved to Showtime. They had a couple of seasons on VICE and used to keep us in tears when they'd go over the daily news and social commentary. I think they're both from The Bronx. But since they moved to Showtime and we don't have Showtime, we don't get to see them anymore.
Kind of. They have this podcast called Bodega Boys that appointment listening for me at this point where they’re just loud, brash New Yorkers talking mad shit for an hour every week. They have a new show on Showtime that’s funny as hell too.
I'm really enjoying the "don't miss Polo & Pan, they're so rare!" zeitgeist continuing from Coachella to here. They've played 4 CA shows in 6 months and just announced a U.S. tour, but they're definitely still rare!
less so the "ooh this cool, I've never heard of them/seen them before" that's bothering me, more the "make sure you see this once-in-a-lifetime act, you'll never get another chance!"
I realize this is a silly thing to be annoyed about, but we are on a music festival message board lol.
I feel like this is a step down from previous years.
They have pivoted to what will definitely make them money. Good for them, not great for me. Oh well. I’m hopeful they will get a line up more in my groove in the next two years.

Didn't they have trouble selling last year after the 2017 sellout?

they added something like 10,000 more tickets last year and this year. They want to be a lifestyle/clothing brand and a festival. I’d dig it if they just stuck to the festival stuff.
I forget the other years. Hot Chip is probably the heaviest act pulling me in followed by Rufus/Janelle/Keys/Phantogram. It isnt bad but it doesn't line up as crazily good both 17 and 18 did. I think Im still in.

If anything I feel they've become MORE of a pure festival now than they were at the beginning. At the beginning, it felt like a lifestyle, a movement, a way of life with all the inspirational speakers, focus on ideas, the food/chefs,etc. The "four pillars" (Music, Art, Food, Learning) were almost equally promoted.
Their festival review videos have gotten shorter and heck, this year is the first year where they didn't release a 4-5 min lineup announcement video.

Who owns them? Do they produce other fests?
They're independent. It was founded by Rehan Choudhry in 2013 and is now currently ran by CEO/co-founder Justin Weniger after Choudhry left in early 2016.
