R’evolution was great. Our server team was awesome, and we had a good time under their care. They brought us out an amuse bouche of some raw tuna with cured egg yolk. Then we got bread - a crusty rosemary roll and a sweet corn muffin. E and C started with Death By Gumbo. Both thought it was awesome. I got a few spoons and would agree. The smokiness they get from their roux and ingredients was notable and delicious. I got the chilled shrimp and sungold gazpacho. It was a tomato based, and the shrimp was coated in some white (creme fresh or mayo?) sauce to stir in and cream up the cold soup. Very good. E got the fire roasted oysters with bienville butter. They were perfectly cooked but maybe a bit more parmesan than I like. C got the heirloom tomato and burrata. Again the frisée had some type of mayonnaise dressing which I would not usually even try. But it was muted. Entree were a piece of yellowfin tuna with crab and coconut rice, a sous vide short rib with butter poached lobster and a CAB ribeye which is what I got. It was good beef but I should have gotten bouillabaisse but did the last minute pivot. For desert , I was looking hard at the bananas foster affogato but went with this southern peach semifreddo thing which was like deconstructed peach ice tea desert made of fresh peaches, upside down rum cake peach custard and frozen tea granita. They got almond creme brûlée bread pudding with red wine cherry white chocolate and amaretto Chantilly cream. Both kids said they would go back any time, and i would like to dig a little deeper into the menu. But outside of birthdays and special occasions, I can’t afford to eat at this level. 4 stars for Restaurant R’evolution. Only knock was one of the dishes I tried needed a little more salt for my tastes. And the ribeye was full of fat that the knife they gave me was having some issues with.
Raw tuna with cured egg yolk sounds amazing. And a smokey roux is one of my favorite flavors. I'll have to put this place on my special occasion list. I've been aware of it's existence and reputation for a long time but as you note it is pricey.
Fair criticism, but to be extra fair, around 2016 or 2017 we hit this place in Beaumont which was in the top 10 tacos in Texas that year. It was called Tacos La Bamba. I got a platos pollo with beans rice and an avocado wedge. It was delicious. It wasn't dingy or dark and was an old gas station converted to a convenience store and restaurant.
www.facebook.com/TacosLaBamba/ ======================== To celebrate Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken being a repeat winner at the National Fried Chicken Festival championships, I went ahead and got 3 breasts and 3 wings along with a large baked beans. I only ate some beans and a breast at lunch, but I have more for later. And it was delicious as Gus's always is. Cool that a chain can own that shit twice (they won in 2019 which was the last one before covid). It's not like people don't know or go - they had 62,000 people on Saturday and another 45,000 on Sunday. Lines look terrible, but the chicken looks like it should.
The winners:
Best Fried Chicken - Gus's Best Use of Fried Chicken in a dish - Bonafried (food truck) for a chicken sandwich Culinary Icon Award - Andre' Prince Jeffries of world-renowned Prince's Hot Chicken in Nashville, Tennessee

Definitely a special occasion place. Maybe it's not as innovative as August or Commander's, but it's on that kind of level and definitely more refined than the OG places such as Antoine's, Galatoire's or Arnaud's.
favorite way to eat green beans? we're still producing a ton of them and the freezer is at max capacity with blanched garden veggies for winter. even the neighbors don't want any more.

sauteed with bacon, onion, and garlic, maybe some chilis if you're feeling frisky
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Quick dry or wet sauté followed by a cup of water for about 3 minutes covered. You get them steamed without having to steam them. Garlic and sesame oil.

Its super simple and basic, but I like them in a crock pot with onions, garlic, black pepper, salt and some jowl.

doing a mississippi pot roast in the crock pot today. was not fully awake and was searing the roast in a pan before transferring to the crock pot. when i flipped it the grease splashed on my hand and burned me good. it'll be worth it though when i get home and a delicious dinner is ready.
on that note anyone have any good crock pot/slow cooker recipes?

Tossed in some olive oil, sprinkled with spices, and roasted.

I do mac and cheese, kielbasa and saurkraut, shredded chicken tacos, and red beans and rice (sorry, NO folks) regularly with ours. If any of that sounds good I'll post 'em.

No hate on that. A buddy of mine does his red beans in a crock pot - Alton Brown’s version. They make their own pickled pork as well.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

It's National Taco Day. Post tacos.
Cuban tacos (steak, plantains, black beans, sour cream) from El Rey Taqueria. Looks like an El Rey taco (grilled fish) peeking in at the top, too. I like this person's style. I usually do one Cuban flour, two El Rey corn.

woah i just went and had tacos for lunch, had no idea. i never go to a sit down restaurant at lunch but just really wanted tacos. guess i was feeling the spirit of the holiday.
gonna get some tacos from felipes after class. so hyped
Damn Doom, you at Harvard or just live close by?
I'm not a big fan of their food. We have the 3 other ones in New Orleans besides the OG one in Cambridge. It's not that you can't get an okay taco or burrito there, but it's just kind of generic, and I find I'm wanting more spice and flavor (except the Chicken Tinga which does bring some heat). However, they do juice all their own limes and make their own purees for strawberry margaritas and shit which are generally better than average. So I certainly don't mind grabbing a drink at any of them when I'm close by.

Lesley, i get to shake my fist at harvard students im so close. I would be doing Taco Party or another better restaurant instead but I have to grab something quick so i can make it to the Stereolab show on time. Felipes is a nice convenient and fast option for when need a quick pick me up before a show after class

Yeah, it's hard to go wrong with a fast and convenient option. And it doesn't suck by any stretch. I'm just a little hard on it. But your post reminded me I need to walk to the one by my house and get a margarita soon.
i'm watching this season on netflix so it doesn't come out until fridays. it was truly shocking to see the atrocities committed during the "pizza" challenge.
