Are the Krispy Kremes at grocery stores any good or is it not the same
They are good but imo the best way to eat KK is to get them when they are hot from a krispy kreme and immediately eat it in the car as you pull away, the hot sugar burning your mouth and dripping all over your car seat.

Ok but have we discussed kolaches? Or, if you were to have a pedantic Czech-American girlfriend, klobasnek? Basically a roll with a sausage and cheese in the middle, and hopefully jalapeños as well.
I think we might have. They're super easy to come by in Texas. Doughboys compared them to bakery sticks from 7-11, but they might not even do those anymore.

Actually the Lickn Good place I just mentioned does kolaches! Only place in my city that does them. Super delicious.

Chain donut shops don't stand a chance here in San Diego, we have very few of them at all. The mom and pop donut shops are abundant, and sooooo good. And most of them are on door dash, unfortunately for my waistline.

Jake Jortles had this observation about Houston, that there were a lot of independent donut shops. We do have some widespread local chains, like the aforementioned Shipley and, to a lesser extent, Kolache Factory. Krispy Kreme was not able to gain much of a foothold here, though there are some. Same for Dunkin. There are some, but I would have to look them up to find them, while there's an independent shop in my neighborhood and a number of Shipley locations I can remember off the top of my head.
Shipley could stand to improve their coffee quality and selection. Dunkin definitely has them beat there.
So do you not like donuts? Amish people? What is the story here? You're really missing out, sir!
Also one year they had an amazing curried chicken salad sandwich on a pretzel bun... I had one bite of it, and I still think about it way too often.
There's a whole Indian stall inside of centeroo that gives out probably the biggest portions at the whole festival and it's not that expensive comparatively.

Part of it is a general dislike of sweets. I do like donuts, but I'm of the cake persuasion.
The thought of a donut and all that sugar at Bonnaroo just sounds kinda awful to me. But, I usually subsist on southwest omelets, quesadillas, trail mix, and beer for the weekend anyway. My centeroo budget is geared more to the broo'ers tent.

I agree sweets at Bonnaroo generally don't sound like a great idea, but I recommend making exceptions for Amish donuts (ideally 1/2 of a donut) and any and all pies made by Delicious Meatball Sub
The Amish people also make really good soft pretzels. And they're right next to the Brooers tent, if I remember correctly

It's right next to the Brooers tent. It's like it's meant to be. Ideally, stop by at the end of the night when it starts to get a little cool out. That warm donut will literally melt in your mouth.
