Week 2 in the NFC South has the Bucs vs Panthers tomorrow. This is AAA Ball, but I will be supporting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Nothing about the football weekend would please me more than seeing Cam and the Panthers brooding over being 0-2. Maybe he can continue to help eliminate clown-like fashion ideas before they take hold. A bonus would be for the Eagles to take out the Falcons on SNF dragging them both down to 0-2.
Once again this week, the cream of the division, the New Orleans Saints, have a tough battle on national television with the reigning NFC Champion Los Angeles Rams. We got assfucked by the NFL last year costing us a trip to the super bowl and a better matchup against the Patriots as anyone who follows football understands. That kind of fuck job changes conversations around ‘all time’ discussions. Brees with 3 or 4 Super Bowl wins would be far superior to every quarterback that ever played the game. But we don’t likely get to have that discussion and have to settle at this point. The team is calling it an important week 2 game. It’s the class of the nfc vs the class of the nfc. I like our chances of keeping it close, but I wouldn’t know what to do with the betting line. I want us coming out of the Dallas game 2 weeks later at least at 2-2. That means beating Rams, Seahawks or Cowboys after defeating a tough Texans opponent in week 1.

esteban do you really think Brees is better than Brady?
I've said more than once on this forum that Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback of all time. I've also stated matter-of-factly that if Brees would have some or most of the Super Bowl wins of Brady, Brady might be the only one close. He doesn't. So that is the caveat with any argument about anyone being greater than Brady being hypothetical only. Looking at anything they've done individually, the only thing that's close is TD's as they're both battling for the most TD's ever (and both will set a new record for that this year) and maybe YPA & QBR
Onto the hypothetical - If you seriously think that New England would have beaten the Saints 13-3 in last year's super bowl, no. We got fucked en route to that matchup. But suppose we didn't get fucked and we ended up beating you guys last year. Brees plays one or two more years and wins a 3rd or 4th super bowl (not to mention the year the Giants beat you as a #6 who we would have destroyed in the Superdome as a Host #5 had we not fucked ourselves in the divisional round). How would you then suggest Brady is better than Brees? They'd both have 3/4 super bowl wins. Brady would have the most divisional wins and AFC championship wins and all that. But if you look at positional accomplishments, they're both statistically Top 5 of all time:
Tale of the Tape (Brady has played a few more games)
Attempts/Completions Brady - 6028 out of 9411 for 64.1% Brees - 6618 out of 9826 for 67.4% (check)
List of Drew Brees NFL Records Most games with 300+ yards passing (114) Most games with 400+ yards passing (16) Most TD passes in a game (7) Most consecutive games with at least 1 TD passing (54) Most consecutive home games with at least 1 TD passing (60) Most seasons with 5,000 passing yards (5) Most consecutive games with 20+ completions (57) Most pass attempts in playoff game with no interceptions (60) Most pass completions in playoff game with no interceptions (39) All time leader in completion percentage (67.3%) All time leader in passing yards (74,437) Highest career regular season passing yards per game (283) Fastest to reach 50k yards, 60k yards, 70k yards Most seasons leading league in passing yards (7) Most consecutive seasons with 4k passing yards (12) Most consecutive seasons with 5k passing yards (3) Most consecutive seasons with 20 TD passes (14) Most consecutive seasons with 30 TD passes (9) Most seasons with 30+ TD passes (10)
Brady Most games won by QB (207) Best TD to Int ratio in season (28.2) Most wins on the road by a QB (92) Most wins at home by a QB (115) Only QB to have 3 consecutive 300+ yard, 3TD, 0 Int games (3) Most yards in season for QB aged 40+ (4,577) Oldest player to win MVP Most Passing Yards for one team (70,514) Most Passing TD's for one team (517) Most seasons QB for one team (19) Most season as TD Leader (4)
So going by apples to apples, Brady is great. Brees would be the greatest. Factoring playoff and super bowl career records, no one can now or ever will touch Brady on those. Nobody is in the conversation because no QB has nearly as many games but him. So I bring it back to if we would have the team accomplishments and had been a division we could win every year because of the competition instead of a division that no one won consecutively for like 20 years, Brees probably has close to or equal the championships that Brady does.
Why discuss Saints players with the biggest homer in the history of homer-dom?
He asked a question, and I answered it. Surely you don't have a problem with that, right?
Your answer is pretty disingenuous, IMO. It's just a bunch of revisionist history and what-ifs. If Brees had won these games and super bowls he'd be as good or better than Brady. He didn't. He's not. I also just don't subscribe to your laundry list of statistics meaning what you say they mean.
The idea that because the patriots lost to the giants they would lose to the saints or because they only scored 13 points against the rams they would lose to the saints is laughably worthless btw
There's this thing called a "game plan" that changes depending on the opponent

Far be it from me to play teacher, but do you have any reading comprehension, or are you blinded with Saints envy?
It would be kind of ignorant, but you don't have to believe in statistics as a point of comparison. Number of completions, number of touchdowns, yards per attempt, etc. are exactly what they say they are. What do I say they mean? Nothing. I put them there for a point of comparison. If you have anything to refute a direct comparison of ACTUAL statistics instead of talking in abstract, please do.

I don't think Giants or you would have beaten us that other year. For the Rams game, I distinctly remember saying that the score wouldn't have been 13-3. Sure there's game planning for specific opponents. It's moot, but I don't believe New England could have held us to 3 points.
