1. San Francisco 49ers 2. New Orleans Saints 3. New England Patriots 4. Kansas City Chiefs 5. Green Bay Packers 6. Seattle Seahawks 7. Baltimore Ravens 8. Minnesota Vikings 9. Carolina Panthers T. Houston Texans
^^ On this, I still think the Patriots are the best team in the league, but they need to get knocked back after that embarrassment in Baltimore. I think the Saints will smoke the 49ers and send them home licking wounds in a few weeks. Chiefs are better than their record and should rise again once Mahomes' knee is better.
Bottom 10:
1. Cincinnati Bengals 2. Washington Redskins (Dan Snyder getting what he deserves). 3. New York Jets 4. Miami Dolphins 5. Atlanta Falcons 6. New York Giants 7. Cleveland Browns 8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 9. Denver Broncos T. Chicago Bears*
10 is a little tough. What this season looks to be shaping up as not so much a parity season but more of a dichotomy season where there is substantial weight at the top and at the bottom. In other words, there seem to be a lot of really good teams and a lot of really shitty teams. I put the Bears at 10 because of their record. They looked like a serious contender at the beginning of the season, but the 4 game losing streak (even with close games to the Raiders and Chargers), they're on the way down. They'll be playing the Lions for last place in the NFC North this weekend.
I'm speaking about the defense particularly. And I didn't say they weren't good? They just don't have a historically amazing defense.
The defense actually had some stellar stat lines
Yeah, like I said, I'm not saying they aren't good. I think the Patriots are really good, one of the best teams if not the best in the AFC. Just don't think they're head and shoulders above and didn't think they were going into the game.

Cam Newton out for the rest of the season with a foot injury. If Allen can have a decent rest of the year, it would make me wonder if roster moves may get made.
Edit: And Big Dick Nick is the starter again in Jacksonville.

I think Cam is starting for another team next year.

I think it's certainly a possibility. He's taken a beating at Carolina and seems to be having more injuries or nagging conditions every year. For him, I could see him wanting to go somewhere else where he had better protection. For the Panthers, he takes up a big chunk of cap room, and with McCaffrey coming along, they may be looking to reorganize their offense.
506 Sports has their weekly maps out. Byes this week are Texans, Jaguars, Redskins and Eagles. Thursday night has Denver at Oakland. I'm actually looking forward to seeing Oakland play as they've turned it around a little since last year. CBS has the single game. Most of the country gets KC @ Tennessee with regional action. We get the Miami @ Indy late game. That kind of sucks.
Fox has the double-header. Most of the country will get to see their New Orleans Saints* destroy the Atlanta Falcons in the early game. The Northeast and SE FL gets the Giants at Jets while AZ, OK and parts of Florida get the Cardinals at The Bucs. The late games are Carolina @ Green Bay and Rams @ Pittsburgh.
SNF is Minnesota @ Dallas and MNF is Seattle @ San Francisco. Those look to be two of the better games this week. 506sports.com/
* for those of you who don't get to see it, Top 1 [tm] Wide Receiver Michael Thomas may break the 4 season all time record in 3 years 9 games. He needs only 6 catches to tie the all time record for 4 FULL seasons. Next record to fall is 481 catches in 5 seasons where the mark is 481. Thomas is only 87 catches behind that with literally 24 games to do it in. If he doesn't get hurt, that record falls before Week #5 next year. I'll take that bet for $25 against anyone here (provided he stays healthy and we don't clinch the #1 too early).
serious question - do you think if you guys had a legitimate second receiver he'd be putting up similar numbers? I don't watch many saints games, so I cant see if he's constantly beating double teams or what.

It depends on how you look at it. You could say that by not having a legit second receiver, he gets more targets and it inflates numbers. You could also argue that other defenses aren't stupid, they know the ball is going to him, but they cannot stop him.
I think the fact that his catch rate is 82% which leads the league is pretty impressive, especially considering the amount of targets he gets and the fact that defenses throw the kitchen sink at him.
I would also argue that Alvin Kamara is the Saints' legitimate second receiver and that other role players like Ted Ginn, Jr (long ball) do hurt both arguments above.

I don't know. The last couple of years we have played more matchup football vs. traditional set type offenses so we're always trying to get someone in isolation or man to man. Where other teams may have legitimate #2/#3 WR's, we have more utilized our TE's and/or RB's to pick up the slack. So Kamara would have probably had 80-90 catches to compliment our WCO game which Thomas is a big part of it. His catch rate is what's maybe more impressive than his number of catches. He's usually covered though he does get free some of the time. And everyone knows that he is our true threat in the passing game (with a hat tip to Tedd Ginn Jr. for being a legit deep threat when healthy).
Also someone sent me a note saying that there has been only 1 player to amass 15 or more fantasy points in every game this year. I haven’t personally verified so I won’t ask everyone to guess which elite NFL superstar that might be. I’ll just add that in our ppr league, 16.4 is the lowest output of the season

I feel like I'm being baited into saying Thomas but I'll just guess McCafferty
Haha. You know it. McCaffrey has ridiculous scores every week but week 2 against Tampa where he got 7.9 in PPR. Otherwise I’d bet his totals and average per week lead the league.

This is the first passable offensive line since Cam was drafted, but sure we are gonna get rid of him to save 20 mil. Do people really not realize there is no long term strategy without Cam leading the charge?
Cam is either a Panther in 2020, or he is retired due to injury. Don't be fooled into thinking otherwise.

Have I ever mentioned to you how much I hate the Panthers? No? Okay well then I’ll just say I can’t wait for the Saints to destroy them sandwiched along with Tampa between two games with the Clowns en route to another division title. It’s going to be a great November for the feared and hated real [tm] Black and Gold.

I kind of agree with your point, but I’m not sure I’m all in. Panthers have enough talent that any decent QB ought to be able to come in and go 8-8 at a minimum. Better and more stable coaching could help too. Riverboat isn’t terrible by any measure, but he should leave the gambling to us.
Yeah I think theres a big difference between someone like flacco who was clearly washed, and at his peak wasn't nearly as good, and cam who I think most agree is just an injury thing.

You hate them because they present a valid threat this year to your precious Aints, and that brings a pretty big smile to your buddy Opossum. I'd like us to split games again this year, it seems likely though I'd prefer we win the first.
Kyle Allen and Will Grier are not starting calibur QBs.
Kyle Allen should be traded as soon as possible, values not ever going to be higher and his contract makes him worth taking a shot on if you don't feel like you'll be able to draft your guy.
