Very solid, for fans of metal/hard rock/heavy psych
this will be my third year going; it’s been a blast the past two but they moved locations and are adding a stage so there are likely 20+ acts to add to this lineup (EDIT: updated to the final lineup)
highly recommend as it takes place entirely within the hotel and casino. Obv a much different atmosphere from Roo but everyone there is super friendly and you get a lot of the bands staying at the hotel for the duration of the fest, so there’s a lot of opportunities to meet bands on the lineup

I'm not sure I want to meet Goatwhore
I assume you’re referencing their name? And I can’t speak for Goatwhore specifically but in my experience, most bands like them are fully aware of how over the top and silly they are and the people in the bands are really nice
I played blackjack with Matt Pike (of High on Fire) last year and he was way for gracious and friendly than he needed to be

It is the most fun I have ever had at a fest. I am little worried about the venue change but will be heading back this year.
I’m actually happy about the venue change because I prefer the strip and I usually stay at mlife casinos so Ill get cheap-to-free nights at Mandalay
I am interested to see what they do with four stages this year
The only problem I had two years ago (didnt attend last year) Was the lack of people at headlining shows and it seemed empty. THe arena there looks huge and I am just worried there will be nobody at some of these acts. Swans was a sad state of affairs, they were amazing but theres was maybe 30 people there and 3 of them were having a threesome so only about 27 into the show.

Wait, I want to hear about this threesome at a Swans show. WTF?

I definitely get that, I had that feeling as well at some shows. I guess they have to limit the tickets to the capacity of the biggest venue but then everyone is spread across multiple
But I was at that Swans show and it seemed decently well attended. Moreso than at Bonnaroo for sure
With that said, I'm really digging this years line up. I was on the fence with what they had announced already but Electric Wizard and Triumph of Death are enough for me to make the trek.

Deafheaven actually kinda rules, their drummer is absolutely incredible and some of their melodic passages are really beautiful.. And I don't see how the lead singer of Deafheaven is any more ridiculous than the lead singer of Meshuggah, and Meshuggah is indisputably one of the best heavy bands of all time. Also, I've seen Deafheaven live multiple times, and they never disappointed.

I wonder if they booked Slayer for this. They'll be done with their European tour by then, and their upcoming North American leg doesn't have any shows in CA or Las Vegas.
