I put this in the old thread, so mine as well move it here. Some thoughts on band possibilities: Black Mountain (new album in may), BRMC ( I believe they are recording a new album now), Claypool Lennon Delirium (Lennon played with his other band GOASTT and they have no TX stops on current tour), RIDE (new album out in August and first track released today), Spindrift (new album coming out), The Dream Syndicate (new album), The KVB (big gap in their fall tour around the dates for Levitation), The Horrors (new album), Toy (new album), Explosions In The Sky (20th anniversary tour coming up with no ATX date, Austin band that has never played festival), Beak> (played the France version of Levitation), King Gizzard... (opened the fest the 1st year at CCR, so maybe come back as a headliner), MBV (always a chance, I suppose), Clinic (maybe a return, they have been pretty active overseas lately)........
Are we thinking this is actually a festival or shows held in clubs around red river?
Also, thats ye olde FFF/SOS weekend(RIP).
My understanding is that they are sticking with the shows being held in clubs format again. Not sure if they will add a more open air type of stage or not, but my gut feeling leans towards that not happening.
I wonder if they are partnering with the guy who did FFF and went on to do SOS for any of Levitation. I believe they had a "burger records presents" show last year, so maybe something like that.
i kind of hated the club format, but i never went to Carson Creek, so it's all I know. its definitely more workable and can be cheaper though so I'll probably be ok with it.
Gizz is in Austin in Sept. so I doubt they'll play, Stereolab probably out, Oh Sees doing shows in Austin in Oct.
Black Angels are probably locks, full An. Co. would be great. Ride probably in play. maybe Fly Lo. shit, if I can see An Co, Ride, and Fly Lo in one weekend I'd feel very successful.

Whoa I like this a lot and just realized I might be in town for work that weekend. So what’s the deal with the club format? Is it an all day thing or are all of these shows competing for night spots?
Holy fuuuck Minami Deutsch and Kikagaku Moyo the same day? This is my shit

It was set up kind of like festival stages, all the venues are pretty much down the street from each other (except hotel Vegas). They offset enough so that you can catch multiple sets in a day. Idk if the schedule is on clashfinder or something but the biggest conflict I remember was having to choose between Panda and electric wizard, but that probably would have happened during a fest, only real problem is it's hard to do like half of each because you need two tickets.

Thanks for the info! Looks like they’re doing a $400 4 day weekends pass for all shows and $175 for all Stubbs shows.
Just checked the clash finder for 2016 (only year available) and damn was that a good lineup! I’d love to catch both the Kikagaku Moyo show and Angel Olsen/Devendra Banhart show but they’re the same day, I guess I’ll wait for a schedule to commit. Have individual shows sold out quickly in the past?

yeah i could fuck with a stubbs pass and then do Mohawk thursday and hopefully also friday.
Stubbs pass is ~200 all said. the three announced shows are ~132 with no fees, so probably close to the same if you bought individually. BUT the pass does say "all 4 shows at Stubb's"...
i was trying to think if the all show pass was worth it, it probably isn't and if youre spending that kind of dough you should probably just go to desert daze.

missed that Allah Las/White Fence one and clarified what's day/night (if nothing noted then it's a night show)
According to the event schedule they put together on their website, just below the ticket links, it looks like they will have DJ's and special guests spinning records at Cheer Up Charlies each day of the week. they also have start and end times for each show posted, and will add specific set times at a later date. The added Stubb's show on Friday could really mess with my current choice of the one at the Mohawk, which wouldn't help to get me there. As of now, I am holding off until the next announcement.
fwiw, Bandsintown leaked that Courtney Barnett is playing Stubb's on Sunday. Could be a late show as doors for Dinosaur Jr are at 4pm. Or they could have just got Kurt Vile mixed up with her.

This lineup is great on paper, but the reality of separate club shows and the prices pretty much guarantee I'll never make the trip. Which is a bummer, because I like almost every act on the poster.
Levitation has released Phase II, adding a big batch of 40+ acts...Some really cool adds all around - maybe one day I'll make it back to Austin for this. The one and only time I went was the shitshow year when it was canceled due to bad weather and some of the shows were relocated to downtown at the last minute.
I still hate that this is now a city fest, but I think it might be a good time for me to get to Austin for the first time (yes I know I posted that I'll probably never go to this, lol)
I thought i read somewhere that Psychedelic Porn Crumpets were playing this but evidently they arent. Regardless, tons of great adds. Im now thinking about just staying home and going to one or two of these a day rather than go to LA for Camp Flog Gnaw the same weekend.

It is somewhat of a bummer that this has reverted back to a city fest, but Austin is one of the few cities in the U.S. where it still works rather nicely. A lot of quality venues, all close together, in the downtown area. I'm not sure how they have improved the logistics of the fest for the fans (going in & out of venues, maximizing the sets one can see), but it's probably the closest thing to a real on-site fest. If I lived near-ish I would definitely be there for at least a handful of the shows/showcases, but it's a bit of a stretch for me to come out from SoCal. But who knows, I may end up back there again in the next year or two for this (or SXSW).

The whole thing that bothers me with city fests is that you can't wander through sets, and can even wait on line to get into a place you paid for and not get in. I get why they transitioned, the weather was a mess at the old spot
