We can finally start to imagine it thanks to the first confirmed names of the festival, which will take place on the 16th, 17th and 18th September in the L.A. State Historic State Park, after extending to a three-day event to take that Barcelona touch further than ever before. Kilometres matter little when the same musical language is spoken and Los Angeles and Barcelona will be united for three days by a line-up worthy of Primavera Sound. Coherent and daring at the same time, full of surprises but connected in every detail with the spirit that has made Primavera Sound what it is today. Today, at last, we finally begin to cross the bridge that will take us to a new Primavera Sound destination without renouncing to all those values that, after 19 editions, underpin the Barcelona festival. Sustainability, gender equality, social commitment and urban integration will guarantee an impact that goes beyond the strictly musical one.
The preview of the line-up is headed by Arctic Monkeys, reactivated as the new classics they already are, the eternally avant-garde Nine Inch Nails and Lorde as a generational pop icon after returning with Solar Power, but on this line up the contemporary crooner James Blake also shines out, the triumphant come back of Mitski, the rupturism of Arca, the groove nomads Khruangbin, the house muscle of BICEP, the brilliant maturity of Clairo, the resurrected Darkside, the darkness of King Krule and Low, once again visionaries with their recent HEY WHAT.
A route through today's most exciting sounds that, for the moment, consists of 59 stops, as many as the number of artists confirmed in this first batch of names. From the labyrinths of Stereolab to the miniature hits by PinkPantheress, from the eternal icon Kim Gordon to the revelation Mustafa with his soul poetry, from the multicolored rhythms of Amaarae to the edgy guitars of Fontaines D.C., from the queen of techno Helena Hauff to the patron saint of reggaeton DJ Playero, from the roar of Special Interest to the whisper of Cigarettes After Sex, from Tierra Whack’s signature rap to Dry Cleaning’s new post-punk, from the icy riffs of Mayhem to the pop with Latin roots by Paloma Mami, from the Mexicans Little Jesus and the Puerto Ricans Buscabulla to the ambassadors of the Spanish scene Bad Gyal, Derby Motoreta's Burrito Kachimba, María José Llergo, Marina Herlop, Núria Graham, JASSS and John Talabot: in short, the journey to Los Angeles can be made by following an infinite number of musical itineraries that will soon be extended with the rest of the artists on a line-up that is already heading towards equality. A non-negotiable commitment for Primavera Sound in its search for a fairer music industry.

a little let down if I'm being honest. waiting over 2 years for a lineup is a set up for disappointment I guess. NIN will be rad, plus a handful of others that will be fun to see, but on first glance there's isn't much that excites me.
but hey, $149 is a great deal for a 3 day festival like this, so I'll take it.
Press release says 59 names and first announcement so more to come. Wouldn't expect anything big enough to headline (AM/NIN/Lorde) and not even sure about second names (James Blake / ¿Bicep? / ?????).

Awesome lineup but i'll stick with Riotfest that weekend since I already have a ticket and don't have to travel. So excited for Primavera in Barcelona though.

Congrats on that $149 investment.
$399 is really steep for this.
yeah, when I look at it as a $149 3-day festival, it's pretty good, but not for $399. hopefully those #lateadds give me a handful of other acts to be excited for.

This is a solid batch of names that probably isn't worth $400 plus fees to me, especially when I compare to No Picnic. I might wait to see if they do day passes. I'm excited for the return of AM even if their last tour was underwhelming, but other than them and NIN, the only truly exciting name for me here is Stereolab. Lorde, Mitski, Faye, and Clairo are all already doing their own shows in LA. I am curious what the late adds will be, but my bank account is relieved for now that I'll only be investing in No Picnic for the immediate future.
Nice going to all those who had the patience to hold onto those $150 passes, though!
I’m surprised people don’t think this is that good.
Price point hurts people cause its Coachella prices for a 20,000 a day fest. Picnic is below this and even though only 2 days could still draw better overall.
I’m surprised people don’t think this is that good.
I think hindsight is 50/50 due to the insane amount of tours announced next year and all the festivals dropping. Any other year, this would be an amazing start for Primavera in LA. I still think it is though.
Prima in the city is why its a whole week, says it in the top left corner. the festival itself is only 3
Missed it. Ok, thats going to confuse unless explained to people. So then its the same format as Barca. And that could make anyone buying a ticket feel theyre getting their moneys worth if you get extra side show dates included with the $400.
