Yeah I saw those tweets. It was a bunch of "Bernie praised Castro....so let's get crazy and act like he loves other authoritarian leaders". And the Putin one was about lusting over his shirtless body. It's so ridiculous and crazy. Trying to find the tweet now but it was pointing out how Bloomberg spent a ton of money hiring a former Twitter exec to handle his online shit which resulted in.....gay jokes.
Bernie has a bad habit of not centering the conversation and letting the media(on purpose or not) spin things. The whole Castro thing started with a video of him explaining why the people in Cuba didn't raise up against him(I believe in reference to the bay of pigs). That's an extremely complicated question and a lot of it obviously has to do with them being under authoritarian rule. But being an idealist he framed it as Castro did good things for the people, etc. As in they didn't raise up against him because he provided for them, was a hero for overthrowing Batista, etc. There's some truth to that. Right or wrong that's a totally different conversation than "he wasn't' all bad... he started a literacy program." Sanders is at fault for not explaining the original context because now he's kind of left himself defending a a weak position.
I would argue that it's preferable that we view the world in more of a nuanced way. That seems a more diplomatic approach than the demonizing the United States is prone to do to their enemies. Let's be real. Not everyone opposes far left wing governments because they have some deep commitment to human rights.
We have a chance to hit peak Twitter shitshow before Super Tuesday is over. It's insane. If Bernie does good that night I might take off work Wednesday because it's going to be so entertaining.
I was feeling the same way about Bernie allowing the media to spin things. I wish sometimes he was a little more media savvy. But I loved his answer on it last night at the town hall. Didn’t feel pressured by the concentrated backlash, just simply said, “Truth is truth.” And wasn’t going to apologize for it. Fuckin’ A, Bernie.

My roommate made a good point in saying all these centrist candidates staying in makes it hard for voters and the DNC to unite behind one person. This definitely works in Bernie's favor.
Yep, the more people that are staying in the race the better. The fact that Steyer and Bloomberg entered the race doesn't give Biden or Buttigieg any favors. I think if Yang stayed in longer, he would've probably hurt Liz and Bernie a bit aswell I think..
In 2016 I feel like it was Hillary against Bernie from the get go. This time you got multiple candidates fighting for the same amount of percentages; Biden and Buttigieg are pulling similar numbers. If either of them pulls out, that's gonna result in a big change I think cause I think there's a lot of cross-over between the two.
You would think so but Bernie is the second-choice candidate for most people, including Biden supporters.
I've seen that, but it'd be nice if there was an option to only show events where Bernie will be present. Guess I'll just have to keep a close eye on it for the next few weeks.

Facebook Events too. Respond to a few organizing events on there to make sure you're notified when a rally pops up.
How do you all find out about Bernie rallies? I'm eagerly anticipating a Cleveland one sometime between Super Tuesday and St Patty's Day
the houston one just kind of happened, idk, really just like a couple days out. it wasn't on the 'event's page when i had looked previously.
but it was on the heels of dallas, and he had 'bands for bernie' thing scheduled for austin, so maybe just as/if you see 'Cincinnati' or 'other regionally close city', get ready.

It may not get announced until 3-4 days before hand. Keep an eye on Bernie's page in the events section when Ohio gets closer. Or check any Bernie for Ohio groups.
The one in Springfield on Friday which Katy Mae referenced was announced yesterday. There was just one announced today for Boston on Saturday.
That Saturday rally on the Common gonna draw big.

Context: question and answers about support from the black community. "We need to stop talking about the past... Martin Luther King once said..." Oh, Amy.

Mayor Pete is awful tonight. Just blabbing over people with the most condescending shit. Listen to him when people end their remarks. He just starts mumbling talking points until he trails off. lol
Most of them just spin back into the status quo. Nothing of value to say. Bernie and Warren are truly the only two with any kind of vision or engaging policy.
I realize some people like this process speak and moderate pablum but this is not going to bring new people out to vote.
