CNN treating this like some football draft. Everything is entertainment. Zero reason for half of these people to be there.
I think I posted something about this recently here but the guy calling shots at cnn literally views this all like sports and is leaning into the whole thing. I hate it.
No major policy friction among the top candidates which is frustrating.
I think that this actually could prove to be a good thing. Biden and Harris are fighting for a lot of the same voters, as are Bernie/Warren (yes, they're all fighting for the same nomination, but you get what I mean). Although its definitely interesting to see people with vastly different ideals spar, I believe that this situation may present a better opportunity for candidates to move the needle as a far as support.
I guess the way I see it is - Biden and Bernie could spar back and forth about their widely different plans, and there could even be a clear winner of the argument. Yet, at the end of the day, few if any supporters of either will have change sides (barring something massive).

I get that. I’m also concerned that Harris is gonna dunk all over Biden and that’s gonna help Harris when it could be Warren doing that.

Oh yeah I mean honestly I would have been all about Warren vs. Biden, but I still think there’s good that could come from how things shaked out.

They really didn't seem to interact at all in the first debate. I'm guessing that they were both advised to let the others knock each others off but that's just pure speculation.
I don't expect Bernie and Warren to draw many distinctions between each other in this debate since they reportedly have a non-aggression pact.
I do expect Harris to continue to chip away at Biden, though. I'm assuming he'll be more prepared this time.

I don't really expect Biden to be more prepared. He took the shot at Harris in the first debate, so he should have been expecting retaliation and more prepared that time. He's just an idiot and bad at this.

I know the title of this thread is tongue in cheek, but how do you guys keep from losing hope? I'm having a hard time lately.
I love my family, friends, etc, and have a pretty great life all around, but am just full of an underlying sense of dread on a daily basis because I feel like our country is being driven and divided by hate. What do you personally do to help with that feeling?

I feel the same way this week. I feel like I'm going insane listening to people argue that saying racist shit isn't racist.
But today I did hear a mother and daughter in Walmart discussing Bernie and Harris and which one was better. Didn't expect to hear that conversation at a Walmart in a red state.

Do you know me or have you read my posts? I have no hope. I feel dread constantly, the news is horrible and keeps getting worse and our country's divide is fucking terrifying. I don't believe that even if Trump loses by a huge margin (which I don't believe will happen, in fact I don't think he is going to lose at all) he won't accept defeat or step-down and truly believe we are about to be in a very real, serious and scary scenario. I have a hard time daily to not feel this way.
Like how low is the fucking bar to where all these people qualified? All about giving people a shot but damn.
Polling 1% or 65K unique donors across a handful of states.
The September debate ups it to 2% and 130K donors.
The depressing thing is that half of the candidates will probably qualify... then you just have one night with the same amount of people on stage instead of two.
As a side note, I think they should get rid of the audience. Said it during the chat. Shit is so unhelpful.

If ever the time comes where he loses power and refuses to cede it... I believe that he has in the past called for Second Amendment solutions to problems, no? I would fully expect that, probably by someone who is legally bound to serve and protect him. If not, then by an average citizen. I think that there are still limits to what most Americans will accept, even that minority who approve of his job performance right now.

I don't think I fully understand what you are trying to say. Are you saying civil war, someone is going to kill whoever won or what?

I'm not that concerned about him being able to refuse to cede power. Too many people who work for him think he's an idiot to protect him in that scenario.
I'm more concerned that we aren't a functioning democracy and that Trump will win because he benefits the wealthy.

I'm saying if he loses and won't leave office that I believe he'd be assassinated.

What allows you to feel that sense of optimism for the people of this country? I ask becauee I need to find that again. Between the failed education system, the systemic racism and then rise of the hard liners, I see very little reason to believe we won't simply play dumb and wait for captain hindsight to show up eventually.

We arent a functional democracy. According to the democracy index, we dont even scrape the top 20 worldwide.

I know people who voted for him. We all do. I think the idea of accepting him as a dictator would simply be a bridge too far. It's not optimism, I just think that there's no way to spin it. I hope that I never have to test that theory.
