I had a great time this weekend. I think a lot of the criticisms that the fest is getting are kind of overblown (not the water thing, that’s deserved). The fest was pretty packed at times but not I didn’t feel like it was oversold. I literally could have walked up to the rail at multiple shows. I do think there were some unfortunate scheduling that made for some shows being way more packed than they should’ve been (Zhu in particular, which was insane) and 20k people trying to escape the rain to the only covered place where Romy/Peggy Gou was playing was unavoidably bad.
The Sequence stage was probably my favorite. The 360 sound was so good and I don’t think I’ve heard better sound for a show ever. I really hate that I only saw one show there all fest. I would absolutely spend more time at that if I got to do it over again. I do kind of wish that stage was less out in the open. Just some black curtains (?) like that have to black out the perimeter would’ve been great. That’s a small gripe though so it isn’t a big deal.
Very happy I got to see and hangout with everyone and meet some new faces like Julie, youcoolman69 and stlallison. And shout out to my usual crew as usual for making everything a great time. I’d absolutely do this fest again and hope that I get to.
1. AceMoMa 2. Kelly Lee Owens 3. Prospa 4. Objekt 5. Jamie XX 6. Romy 7. Yves Tumor 8. Ela Minus 9. Slowthai 10. Three 6 Mafia
I unfortunately didn’t really get to catch Robert Hood. I was coming back down to earth at around that time and started to realize during Fjaak how much my feet hurt and how tired I was so I just sat outside of the scaffolding. That’s probably my biggest regret of the weekend. I also was a little underwhelmed by Fjaak and Gerd Janson. I thought both were good but I expected a little more from two of my most highly anticipated sets.
I’ll leave it at that. I’m exhausted and I’m finally boarding my connecting flight that got delayed for 2 1/2 hours. Work tomorrow is going to be especially rough.
Back to reality this morning and not exactly here for it, so I'll write up a recap of my fest experience instead of getting back to work.
Pros: Amazing lineup, relatively chill crowds, the Sequence stage, getting to meet a handful of Inforoosters who let me tag along - tЯist♡n, Dan808, Cookin' Mama, Jake Jortles, peelanorange I'm lookin at y'all!
Cons: Access to Mind Melt, the fact that my drinks never seemed to cost the same depending on which bar I was at (and now that I'm here reading other posts I now see why and that makes me even more angry), the overall alcohol selection (only two beers!?), the lack of art installations, terrible way finding signs, unintentionally missing Slowthai
Overall I think my pros outweigh the cons and I'd probably do this fest again if the lineup is right. I do hope they figure out logistics for the next one, but I assume that being forced to be all outside this year for the first time threw a kink into that. Regarding the drink selection, I'm really not much for party favors, so I will just be more prepared next time for the lack of options. I don't think the size of the crowd bothered me nearly as much as it seemed to bother others.
Top sets: 1. The Strokes 2. Jamie XX 3. Robert Hood 4. Moses Sumney 5. Crumb 6. Ela Minus (really wish I was there for more of that set) 7. Yves Tumor 8. Channel Tres 9. Rufus Du Sol 10. Peggy Gou
Not going to rehash all the same points everyone else is making, I agree with pretty much everything. Most of the issues are fixable here, and will be back if they have another strong lineup.

Same. The crew I was with on Saturday convinced me that Fjaak was going to be the set of the weekend when really all they did was make me realize how tired I was getting. Robert Hood brought me back from the dead though.

Did anyone here go to the Michael Bibi afterparty? Shit was bananas. He went until 230pm. And he went hard the whole time. The vibes were amazing and it was truly the highlight of my weekend.

Was this mostly after we said goodbye? Now that I'm not tired anymore I wish I would have pushed through past 3 or 330 that night.

Yeah. I saw you guys, said hi and goodbye, and then followed my Airbnb crew into the set even thought my body was telling me to leave. But I made the right choice. I honestly didn't think I was going to follow them in and thought I was going to leave, so my bad if I accidentally ditched y'all.
1. Truevine 2. Acemoma 3. Three 6 Mafia (was tripping balls for this and it was insane) 4. Jamie xx 5. Objekt 6. Yves Tumor (would have been been higher if they didn’t have to stop, but was so sick when it felt like they were summoning the storm) 7. Prospa 8. Eartheater 9. Ela Minus 10. Slowthai 11. Devendra Banhart
The parts of Danny Daze vs Phoenecia and Robert Hood that I saw were pretty insane but didn’t see enough to properly rate them.
I think after years of Day 4 Night the corner cutting that small festivals do doesn’t really bother me as much as other people, main issue for me was the expensive water and the bars moving at a glacial speed (probably because all the tips were being stolen from the bartenders anyway). I definitely think they oversold the festival for Saturday at least. The police were literally blocking off the two biggest shows that night (Black Coffee and Kaytranada) because they were too dangerously packed in at the same time. The giant storm probably saved them from being overly crowded Friday.
Anyway, had a sick time. Miami is a beast. Had a blast hanging with the inforoo crew I love you all. Until next time ♥️💋😎
Huge thank you to TrueVine for the ticket. The lady and I had a fantastic time and Miami was really fun. Agree with Tristan’s point that some things bother me less than they seem to for others. The lineup was great and the crowds were engaged which far and away is priority #1. My fav show list is kinda weird just because I feel like most of the time I was was just walking around each stage, enjoying each act for like 20 min before checking out the next.
If I were to complain about something, I thought some shows were loud to the point of not being able to hear certain things. Thundercat was a big mess of noise and I ended up leaving because it hurt my ears and I could barely hear Thundercat. Eartheater had similar issues but I don’t think I’d have enjoyed her even with better sounds.
Sleeper of the weekend goes to Kaytranada, who played far and away the best show I’ve seen him play. He must excel in a club setting .
The bass in main frame was literally body shaking
Favorite shows were (in no order): Jamie xx, Strokes, Slowthai, AceMoMa, Moscoman, Kaytranada, Truevine, Gerd

Random occurrence of the weekend, ended up standing right next to Romy and Jamie XX at Kelly Lee Owens, I didn't see anyone come up to them while they were watching, which I thought was pretty cool too.
