Huge thank you to TrueVine for the ticket. The lady and I had a fantastic time and Miami was really fun. Agree with Tristan’s point that some things bother me less than they seem to for others. The lineup was great and the crowds were engaged which far and away is priority #1. My fav show list is kinda weird just because I feel like most of the time I was was just walking around each stage, enjoying each act for like 20 min before checking out the next.
If I were to complain about something, I thought some shows were loud to the point of not being able to hear certain things. Thundercat was a big mess of noise and I ended up leaving because it hurt my ears and I could barely hear Thundercat. Eartheater had similar issues but I don’t think I’d have enjoyed her even with better sounds.
Sleeper of the weekend goes to Kaytranada, who played far and away the best show I’ve seen him play. He must excel in a club setting .
The bass in main frame was literally body shaking
Favorite shows were (in no order): Jamie xx, Strokes, Slowthai, AceMoMa, Moscoman, Kaytranada, Truevine, Gerd
I was also at this set and thought I was just too high to enjoy it. Glad to know it wasn't that and others felt the same.

People acting like they had a terrible time, or anyone who actually did have a terrible time without a great excuse need to reflect on what it actually takes for them to enjoy life. Reading through reddit is making me wonder if I have superpowers that I was previously unaware of. I need to figure out how I had fun this weekend, bottle it up, and sell it to these idiots for $7.
With that, I do want to drop in my biggest criticism after thinking about it more and more, and I've already shared it with TV and our group so they will be reading this silly redundant shit for a second time.
In 2019, the "world building" was second only to Bonnaroo for me and maybe even better considering they have to overcome being a city fest. Unfortunately this year it just felt like a parking lot concert like Shaky or ACL. Especially compared to 2019. Going until 4:30 am made it more special than those fests on its own, but iii Points didn't really take it over the top like they did last time.
I was floored with the stages, art experiences and even the sponsored displays at iii points in 2019. It's hard to sum up but I'll just quote an old article I found from post '19 that completely resonates with me:
While all of the music was incredible, III Points is definitely different from the rest when it comes to art. Most festivals include some art here and there, but III Points really focused on making art installations an interactive part of everyone’s experience. One of the stages, The Boiler Room, was inside of what appeared as a giant industrial container. Inside were big spheres hanging from the ceiling with blinking, moving eyes projected onto them. I don’t think I ever saw those eyes left unattended, everyone was fascinated with them and constantly snapping photos and videos!
Another stage, the Isotropic stage, had a botanical theme with plants hanging all around which created an awesome vibe. Around the festival there were also smaller industrial containers that had screens and seating on the inside. They were playing the artwork of various local artists, and the festival-friends seemed to be loving this as a way to escape the crowds and take a seat for a moment of relaxation. An art installation which achieved a similar effect was near the indoor stage, Main Frame, and consisted of a beautiful mesmerizing light show near the ceiling. At any point during the festival, you could find many people laying down and absorbing the beauty.
Another amazing addition was the roller skating rink! People could rent some skates and roll around to groovy music. There were many other art installations and creations scattered around the venue as well, which gave attendees a lot to go look at and experience between sets. III Points also had countless areas set up to take cool pictures at; if you didn’t take festival pics, did you even go?
An easy way to sum this up for me was the Isotropic Stage.

Isotropic 2021:
I just typed out and crafted a much longer post showing things that were there in 2019 that weren't in 2021 and its just overkill because I don't intend to be too much of a downer. The festival being less... immersive than in the past was the most disappointing thing for me.
But end of the day you can throw the inforoo squad in a parking lot until 4am with this lineup and we will have a blast regardless.

And to be fair, I know those professional photos give 19 the advantage over the only photo I can find on the internet of the stage from this year, but I was just there 2 nights ago irl and that '21 photo is pretty much a solid representation of the way I felt about that stage and the professional photos are the way I felt about the 19 stage.
Im broke from all the water I had to buy but the music was beyond fantastic. I knew the water situation would be horrible based off the last 6 years of attending so at least I was mentally prepared. The Sequence stage was next level. I also really enjoyed Eartheater despite the sound bleed.Hoping for Bjork, Massive Attack, or My Bloody Valentine next year.
5.Jamie XX 4.Robert Hood 3.Alex G 2.Three 6 Mafia 1.Yves Tumor - Noid in the pouring rain was one of my favorite festival moments ever.

I second Jake Jortles feelings on being disappointed in the lack of unique/immersive stages and experiences. This was my first time at III Points but one of the selling points for me was how cool and unique the stages and art installations were and it seemed like they really phoned it in this year. I even remember the first time I made it to Isotropic I was convinced I was at the wrong place because of how boring it looked compared to what I had seen from 2019. I kept thinking "Where are all the plants??"
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

I’m hoping they plan on bringing back those stages next year & this was just what they had to do, due to the pandemic still on going...because I remember getting to isotopic & my group kept telling me it was the wrong stage because it didn’t look like the stage from years prior lol

The Old Folks Delegation echoes the sentiment regarding water. We tried to recollect a festival with worse availability dating back to our first fests in the early and mid-1990’s and we couldn’t. Mainly because peak substance use and youth likely had us less concerned with hydration or unable to recall events from that far back.
The Thunderdome aka S3quenc3 should have been called the Mind Melt. Holy shit.
1)Wu-tang (split their set with some of Washed Out, who I love. But the sound was off for that show) 2)Khruangbin 3) Jamie XX 4) Devendra 5) Kaytranada 6)Thundercat 7) Yves 8) The Strokes 9)Black Coffee 10) Erik Prydz
Fun festival. My first time, EMR’s third. Met some nice folks, with the theme being guys who were experiencing recent breakups and needed some water and a hug. Love seems to be having a rough time out there in the world.
Miami has been fun. Lots of great Cuban fare and seafood. Stayed at a cool Art Deco hotel in Miami Beach last night. At a Heat game tonight. Back to Ohio in the morning.

What were the snuck costs at bars and issues with bartender tips?
Automatic gratuity added and the bartenders don't get to keep those tips.
I can confirm auto gratuity but I only heard about the no tips thing.
The 20% auto grat on credit cards DO go in a big pool then equally distributed among all the bartenders at the festival. I confirmed this with multiple bartenders.
The shady thing is no one knew this and the bartenders would bring up the tip % screen and flip the ipad around and so people were paying the 20% auto grat PLUS another tip. Really shady imo. This made water almost $8 and a vodka/redbull was $24. Unfucking real.
I really really missed the indoors aspect of the festival. Main Frame indoors was so much fun and you could escape from the rain or humidity. Plus its huge in there. Main Frame this year was a dirty wet cluster fuck. Friend of mine was the stage manager for Main Frame this year and she said the fire marshal wanted to close the stage during Zhu because it was so bad.
I missed Eric Prydz because it was so packed over in that corner you couldnt even get over far enough to see the stage without getting crammed into the massive crowd. Crowd was packed all the way to the back at the bar and the school bus.
I disagree with Julie about the festival not being oversold. It was absolutely over sold. If they bring back Main Frame indoors it may help some of the congestion that was RC/MF this year. Was hard to enjoy the main shows at those stages.
Also they really shit the bed with the S3QUENCE stage imo. That stage had so much potential if they had just put in ANY effort making it look nice rather than just the skeleton poles. The sound at this stage was actually the best at the festival if you stood in the middle at the bottom.
Julie is there a reason why they never put a stage in the other indoor side of mana where the art installations and skating rinks are? its so damn big in there.
I definitely missed having everything so compact in that one block of mana. I'm old and cant handle all that walking with my camera gear lol.
Also how the fuck are some of you able to attend the festival all day and night until 4-5AM and THEN go to an after party from 5AM til 10AM - Noon? I would fucking die.
Also did literally no one else see Keinemusik on RC Cola? They fucking murdered that set. I wasnt even about to touch MF during Kaytranada after witnessing what happened during Zhu. I saw Three Six Mafia then got the fuck out of there.
And FJAAK were hella fun. Wish I had the energy to stick around longer and hear their entire set.
Also I was actually blown away by the talent of the DJs they booked in the VIP Le Rouge Lounge the entire weekend. Everytime I went in there to use the restroom they had the place poppin.

The acoustics are awful in that warehouse. The black room where main frame used to be is designed for sound but the other part of Mana is not

tried going to rc cola after fjaak and they werent letting anymore people into that area. cops had it blocked off. went to sequence, there was only room on the upper deck, but after like 20 minutes someone from the stage crew came up and made people get down or else they were going to "shut down his stage".

Yea they had security guarding both sets of stairs to the upper portion of Sequence all weekend doing one up one out then for some reason during FJAAK the security just disappeared and anyone could go up there so it got overrun and packed.
