its a good idea and it could be a fun draft but the decision to do it before infinity was made without the majority and it’s a decision that cuts off 9 people from the draft. You can’t compare it to previous years because this isn’t a normal year. People are enthusiastic but more so than they’d be for an infinity?

wow this is cold take after cold take. were you not there for all of us throwing around insane and new ideas for drafts idk what? a month ago? we're all up for a new take on that draft, and obviously this one is specific. no one is calling their new idea "shitty". were just enthusiastic for whatever draft is next and dont want to miss out, which this will cause people to do. the idea wasn't "suggested", we were all just told that their idea got the okay from Cdev, and it's what we're doing now. Cdev does deserve a large say in what we do, but that doesn't change the fact that this definitely should have been run by everyone as an actual suggestion first.

It's a free message board. They can start a game up at any time, and if it draws interest, like this one clearly did, they can run the game. It was nice of them to run it by cdev, but I don't even think that was necessary. If you don't like it, you don't have to participate. The hangup of it being limited to 16 isnt a reason not to do it now. It's a reason to never do it. There's a reason why it's limited to 16. It's built into the concept. People get left out of drafts when there are more people in them, too.

limiting people is fine but it’s the combination of limiting people and delaying the infinity that we have issue with this. No one would have any issue with this if it took place after infinity. It seems odd that you’re not getting why this “cutting in line” is an issue

I think you and your crew, along with people who maybe missed sign-up, will get it voted down, yes, but I don't think we should necessarily take a poll that sweeps the rug out from under the people that want to do it. Enough people signed up. If you are opposed to it, again, I suggest you leave the roster. If enough of you do, maybe it won't have enough participants to go forward, maybe we ask people from the Coachella thread to join in for the remaining slots and it goes forward, anyway. I don't see why we need to poll a game that got all the people it needed to go on. There aren't any rules to this, and I think polling it isnt really the point. I'm sorry to the peeps who got the feeling that this was shoved onto them and were excited about the Infinity Draft already and got this instead and feel weird about it without any given context about it. I honestly thought that with the permission of Cdev, you guys would be fine with trying something different while the Infinity Draft could still happen at given time. I want to do infinity so there’s probably some bias but I wasn’t the only one to say this was lame and because of this, one of the best drafters in Todd decided to sit out. I like this idea and I’d be in favor of doing it instead of the Bonnaroo one but I think more people want infinity because it’s what we’ve been prepping/getting excited for.

I have no real power here. If people want to go off and run their own Infinity Draft they can. If people want to do a Coachella Draft they can.
As a courtesy, Fred and Bing asked if I had a problem with them launching this draft in conjunction with Coachella season. I think that's a fun idea. I enjoy these drafts a whole lot but I'm fine with taking a little break from moderating one for a month or two.
I am sorry for those of you that were raring to go on the next ID, especially for those who missed the cut on the Coachella one. I'm not sure how firm they are with the number of drafters maybe there's a reason that it needs to be sixteen or whatever it is. If someone is super upset I'm willing to cede my spot.
I did not mean to mislead anyone with the timing of the next ID. I was willing to launch in a few days because I thought that people were itching to have something to do. When they reached out last night with this new idea I was supportive (I still am, FWIW) and I assumed y'all would be, too.
Let's go into this with an open mind and our enthusiastic support. If it's not your thing, know that I am willing to launch ID3 24hrs after their draft ends if people are still interested in doing it. If you can't wait and need to start your own competing infinity draft, I can't stop you. I hope that you don't, though.

i get all of that, it was just pretty established that the Infinity drafts "given time" had already moved up, hence Cdev saying he was down to start it right after voting wrapped up.
