Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Ok. Fair enough. But I thought yall basically copped to it on your podcast, and that was really the first I knew of it. It didn't particularly sound like a joke on there, because you seemed genuinely frustrated that whatever person didn't vote for you. Idk. Whatever.
As far as dictating, it's quite clear to me that you want to do the Infinity Draft right now and that you think if it goes to a poll that you'd have the votes. I think you're being disingenuous in suggesting that you're doing this for The People. I think you're basically just trying to get your way.
I want to do infinity so there’s probably some bias but I wasn’t the only one to say this was lame and because of this, one of the best drafters in Todd decided to sit out. I like this idea and I’d be in favor of doing it instead of the Bonnaroo one but I think more people want infinity because it’s what we’ve been prepping/getting excited for.
And I have some bias too in that I want to do the Coachella thing and I'm not sure I really have the emotional energy to do an Infinity Draft right now. I've been waffling the past couple of days as to whether I would participate. I think if I joined I would lose interest partway through, but I'd be tempted to join. My viewpoint is simply that, if some people want to do this, they shouldn't be subject to the opinions of those who don't. I understand why we wouldn't really want two drafts running at once, and I understand that one group or another is going to have to wait for the thing they'd rather do, but we're all autonomous as members, so I don't think whether a game takes place is something that needs to be voted on by the entire board.
Anyway, I've expressed this plenty, so I'm gonna log off. I really just don't want this to be a schism in the board. Even though I get into it with you sometimes, we have more in common than we have differences. I like everyone here (now that Launch and krisp are gone).
I have nothing productive to add that hasn't already been said, except that in times like these when nearly everyone is feeling low, has more time on their hands, and needs a distraction more than usual, we as a community should move in the direction of inclusion
Edit: Which this new draft doesn't do.

Thank you all for your opinions. I really didn't mean to offend anyone or try to impose anything on anybody.
I think cdevaney summarized it very well, so I'm not gonna repeat what he says. But Bing and I thought of a different idea, and wanted to do something different before we started Infinity. And we asked him to make sure if he'd be okay if we went for Coachella draft first before Infinity, which he supported.
And I asked who would be interested to be a part of it, and we filled all the spots within an hour. This is just telling me that there is enough interest.
Are you really bored so much that you're trying to pick up fights or stir the pot? Doesn't seem necessary at all, especially these times. All we really want is to do something different, and have some fun out of it.

The argument is not that there’s no interest in you guy’s idea, there certainly is. We all really like drafting and that’s why any draft fills up pretty quickly and this one filled up in less than an hour. The argument is that we were excited for infinity draft and want to do that one first. Imo infinity is leagues better than the Bonnaroo draft. So after you guys give us the details on your draft we should poll both to see which is done first. Either way both should be done.
OK. There is a reason why we limited it to 16 people. We would like to try something different, and to see how it will be. Instead of how we vote in poll currently, we want to introduce single-elimination tournament, March Madness style. Seeds will be assigned randomly. We can talk about the details of how we're gonna implement the voting separately at a later time.
I wouldn't want to exclude everyone from this, but our next option would logically be 32 people, which is too many especially since the number of eligible artists are limited.
One option I can think of if you all want to go to 20 people is the following. Divide 20 people into groups of 5 (randomly), and as the first elimination round, run a poll (each group would have separate threads, so 4 polls) to determine the top 4 that will advance to the "finals". Then continue with single-elimination. Seeds at that point might be determined randomly or not. We can also discuss this.
Let us know if you have any other opinions/suggestions.

I'll be typing out a separate post shortly.
no matter what your new idea was, it was going to garner enough interest based solely off the fact that we all just want to draft and no one wants to be left out. if we surprise launched infinity draft signups early, it would of filled up too.
and cmon man, no ones trying to “pick fights” or “stir the pot”. whether it was your intention or not, it very much feels like this was imposed on us. And I can promise you none of this would of happened if it was just proposed with a poll, instead of just assuming the cdev stamp of approval was enough to turn every one of us from what we have been planning and getting ready for.

To include more people but also be less that 32 you could do some kind of voting beforehand to give a certain number of people byes in the first round. The only problem with that would be if you voted right after drafting is done then everyone kind of gets a more solid idea of how the tournament is going to go. So maybe have us vote for the byes in the middle of the draft. Then we still reward people who we think have draft good thus far but also not somewhat decide the tournament with voting.

You can also do 24, groups of 6 and bottom 2 exit.

Yeah I think the Coachella draft is a fine idea; no problem with that whatsoever and it'd be nice to do something new. Maybe it's hard to see from your position, but the way it came across to everyone else is that you and Bing (with cdev's blessing) pretty much just said "Hey, this is what we're doing now instead, we will not be taking anyone else's input on the matter, and if you get left out or don't like it, eh well sucks for you." I sincerely appreciate that you're now trying to include more people now, but I encourage you to see why the way this was rolled out is rubbing people the wrong way, so that after we decide what direction we're going, we can avoid it in the future. I view you both as genuinely decent people so I don't think either of you intended or envisioned the response you received, but I do think that lack of foresight is what got us here. I feel like all of this could been avoided by just saying "Hey after the Infinity Draft we want to do this idea, how does that sound?" and you'd probably have had near-unanimous support.
All being said, I'm fine with the tournament style.
Damn this was straight up gold. We should all get on a Zoom call and yell at each other to release tension. Sitting this one out, but don't really have a choice. I will be looking forward to infinity (and beyond)

I thought this was kinda put to bed, but since I guess it hasn't been..
Fred and Bing had a vision and now it's getting diluted into something else that wasn't what they intended. We're essentially just cutting the baby in half now. Sad to see.
I'm not as familiar with Coachella as I am with other festivals. Plus I don't really know enough good electronic music to put together a Coachella lineup that could win. But it's whatever, I'll just have to research a little more. So yeah if you guys make it 20, I'm in.
