The new ticketing email had me thinking we won’t be getting many more artist additions.
Probably not a lot of (or any) big names, but I'd be very surprised if we don't get 12 - 18 more artists announced (including the usual late announced Pilot Light acts).

Just give me Jenny Hval, and I'll shut up.
Just give me MAGMA and/or David Sylvian, and I'll shut up till Big Ears 2021
Pigs x 7 announced New York and Los Angeles shows for upcoming March while they're around for SXSW. It would be amazing if BE booked them. Just saying.

Some of my top picks are coming to my town... so that's going to make some potential conflict decisions a little easier: A Winged Victory for the Sullen, Shabaka & the Ancestors, Kronos Quartet w/ Terry Reilly, Tamino, and the Patti Smith Band.
Any guesses on who will be announced today? New music from Negativland, Battles, and Ryley Walker / Charles Rumback this year... The Residents are starting their "Dog Stab" tour in mid-April...

Yeah... looks like they switched their announcement strategy at the last minute: "...starting to unwrap some surprise gifts to share with you... a few at a time. There's more to come... we're easing into it."

"...Stay tuned for some ECM related news this week, when we reveal new artists joining the Big Ears line up for March, along with some exciting additional programs...."
Probably Tuesday.
E: It's Tuesday according to their FB post.

I will say that Caroline Shaw is a get. It's hands down one of my favorite albums this year.
It really doesn't make or break it for me, honestly. It's just a lighter year.
I like it much more than 2019 edition, and I had an amazing time this year. It can only get better (barring horrible clashes).
For me, there are definitely fewer jaw-dropping bucket list acts this year, compared to years past... but in terms of the overall quality, they're still delivering! I currently have 17 "Must See" artists and 32 "Main Picks"... given that I've never seen more than 25 artists at this event, I can't complain at all.
But I will
I was HOPING that with the announcement of Fennesz... I thought we *MIGHT* see an appearance by David Sylvian. I'm still pissed that David canceled his last scheduled Minnesota appearance 20 or so years ago (especially since he lived here for a short period!)

My annual PSA (and reminder to myself) since we're probably getting close to the window of daily line-ups and, ultimately, daily schedules:
Don't freak out (in a bad way) or fall in love (in a good way) with the schedule... it will change. Take a deep breath... and be one with the chaos of festival scheduling.
"...We will plan to add a new venue for some special presentations...the return of the Big Ears film program with Public Cinema...Next Tuesday, Jan 7, once everyone has had a chance to recover from the holidays, we will answer some FAQs about 2020. When will the daily lineup be announced?..."
I'm pretty content with the lineup at this point, but wouldn't mind seeing more names being added.
