I’ve never had an issue ordering tickets for an in demand event when it is refresh only and does not include a waiting room. It’s a skill I’ve honed over the years since my first Lollapalooza shooting for their $60 golden tickets. I’m batting about 10% when trying to get tickets for an event that introduces a waiting room.
I’m convinced that there’s some element of randomness that comes with a waiting room, even if it says “first come, first served”.
Also strange that it booted me from the waiting room so quickly when others seemed to get in after me and get tickets without issue.
Also, it’s a bit comical that Newport was posting “Keep Refreshing” on Facebook, but the waiting room specifically states to not refresh. My guess is those who ended up in the waiting room actually were at a disadvantage to those who were refreshing.

Yup lol, crazy how they manage to go backwards on this process...when you’re supposed to improve on things.
I think they just want to sell more memberships. I wouldn’t put it past them.
Just like I’ve mentioned years before...I don’t think this sells out on day 1, I think they flow them through Lyte.
Why would they do that?
Well it creates a frenzy...like right now. Which will get people to sign up for Lyte and likely get tickets. Which makes their sponsor “Lyte” look good.
As for the memberships, well people will be more likely to pay for a membership because of a bad experience today.

Welcome one and all to the Newport Conspiracy Theory Hour, who has the next crazy idea?
Hi all, I'm a long time lurker. Have enjoyed reading all your opinions on artists, new recs, speculation on acts, etc. Finally decided to jump in after being bummed to miss out on tix through the normal purchase for the first time since 2015 (although we skipped last year bc our daughter was born July 6). Anyway, wanted to share what I'm reassuring myself with right now. Back in 2018 I signed up on Lyte pretty late for Friday tix and was nerdy enough to graph my progress in the queue. I'll add to the chorus saying that in the past the lyte queue has done the job just fine (single day ticket caveat for my experience), and it's amazing how fast it moved in the last month. Trying to share graph...
Lyte will come through in the end. I didn't get tix last year and signed up for Lyte that afternoon and had my ticket filled on 12/15.
So I'm assuming the only people putting their tix on Lyte this early are those who just bought everything they can?
I think that's what's causing the problem w/tix and not Newport Conspiracy Theories a la Beaker. I think with Newport people just buy everything they can and figure it out later.
I'm going to sign up right away this year, but last year I did not have great luck with Lyte. I signed up two months out for a pair of every type of ticket, and the only thing that came through was a pair of Fridays.

That and because of how much of a crapshoot getting through is, groups often have multiple people trying for the same handful of tickets and winding up having multiple successes.
With the chaotic process they seem to like using for ticket releases I understand why people do it but it sure does just make it that much more frustrating.

I'm not given to conspiracy theories but I do remember thinking it was more crowded the first year they used lyte ('16?) And I theorized back then that they released extra tickets to the service to make it a success. But if it gets me in the door and lets me sell extras with no funny business I'm not complaining.

Hey, we skipped last year because ours was born July 5th! Baby gang rise up.
I'm another one who was in right at 10, put 3 three-day passes in my cart, then was booted to the waiting room. When I got back in, it said tickets were unavailable in that quantity, refreshed, blah blah.... Anyway! My question is about Lyte. If I need 3 three-day passes, does anyone know if I will only get moved up the list if 3 together become available? Is it better to put in 3 separate requests for one three-day pass? Does that makes sense? I googled and read Lyte's FAQs but I can't find an answer. Thanks!
It feels like cheating, but I've always entered into Lyte one at a time and I've always been successful in my endeavors.

Congrats! Planning to bring the little one this summer?

Yup! We moved across the country a few years back and made it back for '17 and '18...gotta get back at it while the gettins good and we don't have to pay for plane or festival tickets!

I would assume it shouldn’t matter because it’s a GA ticket. If you put in three orders separately, you’d be numbers (for example) 51, 52, and 53. If you request all together you’d still be numbers 51, 52, and 53. It would just determine whether Lyte charges you after each ticket or only charges you when all 3 become available, which would still happen sequentially.

Data isn’t showing for me. Could you repost? I’d be interested to see this information.
That’s still a great number. I think I was lucky enough to refresh the Lyte page and see that it was open before Newport made an official post on social media.
Anybody know if Lyte tickets can be returned back to Lyte? I assume yes, but just want to confirm. Anytime a trip required flights, rental cars, and hotels... a lot in life can change between now and then.
