I saw Idlewild in an actual movie theater at that age.
I just didn't know their music enough. I owned Aquemini and liked a few songs + Ms. Jackson and that was about it. I also just didn't appreciate rap music enough to understand how great both of them are

It would have been very difficult for me to not know them well given the time period when I was getting into pop radio/coming of age.
