I don’t know if LN is in charge of it. There’s no Live Nation branding anywhere on the NCMF site but there is a company named Collectiv Presents which has been putting on a bunch of drive-in shows. I don’t know if they’re part of LN or something.

I remember there being some sort of “controversy” (for lack of a better word) between North Coast and Mamby in 2019 and people didn’t know if they’d be happening at all. It would’ve been nice if it switched back to a bit of a mix of genres because Spring Awakening exists (kind of) to cover the EDM space. Plus Mamby died I think.
I only went once but I enjoyed it. They struggled in their location and when they tried to move to the old Wavefront spot on Montrose Beach the locals brought out the pitchforks and that was that. Maybe they'll try again in 2022?

There doesnt need to be LN branding anywhere for it to still be in their control. LN bought a piece of Insomniac, who produces EDC and other edm fests. Their websites have zero indication that LN is involved even though its known to be that way. LN has no problem being the wallet for other festivals since theyre going to get their piece out of it. Same with AEG.

I loved that lineup when they tried to have it on monrtose. Mamby is the one of the only festivals my girlfriend and I would both agree we'd go to every year because the vibes are the best (re: not douchey). Really hope it comes back
“If it’s not a giant Lollapalooza, it might be a half-capacity Lollapalooza or no Lollapalooza. But I want there to be a Lollapalooza in some capacity so bad.”
"I listen to Joe Biden, when he thinks July 4th could be the first time we’ll have a small celebration. I’m gonna say that my first small celebration will be in August, and I wanna have it in Chicago.”
Seems like there is uncertainty from Perry but it looks like he will likely do everything in his power to try and make it work. Suggesting a half capacity lollapalooza I did not expect. Not sure how much of a profit they can turn with that.
I'd assume Perry is just not going to get in front of the city's permitting process, and acknowledging the variety of factors that will determine whether or not a traditional Lolla can happen. I am sure there is some fallback that would likely merge virtual viewing with some scaled back live stuff (an evolution of last year), but I don't think you can setup a festival that scales cleanly to a variety of capacity caps.
The most interesting bit for me is he clearly reaffirms the usual August timeline, which lines up with what we've been hearing about them trying to hit the usual weekend.
I think people really overestimate how involved Perry is in actually putting on this iteration of lollapalooza.
I don't disagree, we overstate his current involvement sometimes and he has a tendency to just... talk. But he was pretty on the money with the hints about a virtual Lolla in interviews last year before there was firm intel on that. And the August timeframe was an explicit call out.

They got their hold for July 14- Aug 6 so thats very promising.
I don't think he's booking the festival or has any real control or anything, but he's still connected to the fest in some capacity. Did any other majors book that solo thing he did in 2019?

not in the US, but they did play a couple of Euro fests.
I'd say within the next few weeks though I could see them waiting longer to get the official approval from the city. Festivals are selling out fast so they don't need 4 full months for ticket sales.
Soon. With Bonnaroo making moves its an indication that LN is getting ready to ramp things up. Theyll prob put Roo up for sale, sell it out and then move forward with Lolla. But there will prib be some crossover from the Roo line up though.
K, ya’ll forgot the counties decide unless the state steps in. So for now theyre going ahead. Capacity will drop a lot because they changed locations. It was on a nascar race track, now its back to fairgrounds so maybe 50k a day max.
And youre forgetting the line up. Plus Live Nation runs the show so dont be surprised at Lolla crossover cause djs and planes are their favorite combination.
They gave us scoops on Reddit every year and then one year gave some scoops to Bonnaroo and it got blown up and Festive Owl picked it up and it became too public so they disappeared. It’s been 3 years now.
