Kendrick was at Glastonbury and a lot of other Europe festivals that summer BEFORE Lolla wouldve happened. And likely was going to be on the 2020 poster since he was booked for Lolla Stockholm. His album wouldve been out when he had gone to Europe. He could sit out and do that same cycle next year if he chose to.
But apparently the biggest draw they can get just set up to have new material ready for Lolla if theyre booked. So lets consider that.

In addition to all the other reasons that have been cited, Kendrick hasn't played Lolla since his "Good Kid, m.A.A.A.d City" run in 2013 and it was an on fire set and crowd -- probably the best I saw during that run. Debuting his new album to a crowd primed to give him a hero's welcome during the return of the first top tier US music festival will make some waves and give him a lot of great press/media visuals to promote it wider. Hard to imagine a better/more appropriate moment this calendar year.

More fuel to the fire for Kendrick. Wouldn't be surprised if it had something to do with SZA either. It feels like the wait for her has been insanely long.
Just got an email about a Pride month concert being held in Grant Park at the end of June, so that’s something.
They have their preliminary health requirements posted on their site. Seem to be using Clear Healthpass+ and will confirm final requirements 2 weeks out: prideintheparkchicago.com/health/
