Pearl Jam and Rage would be incredible but based on the trajectory of the past few lineups I'd say its most likely going to be one or the other. Lolla will probably get PJ and Riot Fest hopefully gets Rage.
Pearl Jam * Kendrick Lamar * Sweedish House Mafia * Billie Eilish My Chemical Romance * Flume * Beck * Vampire Weekend
Billie v MCR PJ v Flume SHM v Beck Kendrick v VW
Replace flume with another hiphop or edm headliner and I think this is what we're probably looking at a best case scenario
Vampire Weekend headlined in 2018 and i have no idea why people keep putting SHM in the conversation, i don’t think they’d even be top 4 anyway.

Regarding SHM -Currently working on new album -Supposedly signed on for a stadium tour with live nation. Axwell ^ Ingrosso said at a New York show that SHM had a tour date their for 2019 but with three weeks left in the year I doubt it happens or it got pushed - Definitely will draw well with the kids looking for their EDM cheese fix but they are too big for Perry’s they’ll need one of the main stages - My personal opinion is if they play they’ll be 3rd or 4th headliner on the poster however, I can also see them fall to 5th if a strong headliner pool is available
I’m starting to think they are going to bring Vampire Weekend back since they can’t play Pitchfork. Though I suppose Riotfest could book them in September.

I know a lot of people would be upset about them coming back so soon, but I'd be thrilled lol I'll take all the Vampire Weekend I can get. Two hour set or bust
Hearing The Beach Boys might be playing with the full living crew. They are playing 3 nights at the Hollywood Bowl July 2,3,4 and the only other date is Lolla so far.

So what would the difference be with the huge tour they have? They're playing IL on July 28th and then Kansas on the 31st. Wouldn't make any sense to go back to IL.

No Brian Wilson and no Al Jardene on that touring Beach Boys group. They are trying to get an east coast date as well that would be equivalent to the Hollywood Bowl shows. The Lolla date would be their Midwest stop.
its not uncommon for them to fly around the country playing back to back to back. Last summer they went from Seattle, Washington to North Dakota then to Oregon on three consecutive nights.

It has been 4 years since they last headlined in 2016. Definitely could see RHCP as a headliner again this year.
How crazy is it that Pearl Jam, RHCP, and RatM are all in play for this year? Would be the most 90's Lolla ever. Watch them somehow end up with none of them though.
I hope PJ or MCR end up here. I enjoyed the shit out of Lolla 2018 but 2019 was ok, not super fun for me. I want to go in 2020 but with Lover Fest West the weekend before it might be too expensive but if the lineup is good then i will find a way lol

I’m pretty sure MCR was confirmed awhile back. They’ll be a north stage headliner, for sure.

I'm not trying to spoil anyone's fun or hype, but how likely is it even that we get that rock heavy of a top 4, or line up even? We only had two rock headliners last year, the rest catering more to pop, hip hop and EDM more than anything else.

Kendrick is a pretty good prediction though.
Last year they had The Strokes and Tame and there's an argument to be made for Twenty One Pilots leaning rock. In 2018 they had Arctic Monkeys, Jack White, Vampire Weekend, and The National in the top 8. 2017 they had The Killers, Muse, Arcade Fire, and Blink-182. I don't think they're against putting rock up top, I just think last year was a weak year for rock in general.

Er. Huh? Guns 'n Roses, The Cure, Mumfords and Tame Impala are all played on rock stations. Some would argue Billie Eilish is the next door to rock. And GnR is SUPER ROCK. I mean, like 100% nothing but rock. And expensive. And right below them was Raconteurs, Gary Clark, Thom Yorke.
ACL is pretty dedicated to a rock presence. I can't imagine that changing.
In Bloom Festival 3/18-3/19 Houston, Texas Rock Werchter Festival 7/5-7/8 - Werchter, Belgium Mad Cool Festival 7/12-7/14 - Madrid, Spain Austin City Limits 10/5-10/7 - Austin, Texas

I really enjoy when people try to act like the previous year's line-up totally negates the recent history of a festival. 2019 was just a bad year for rock headliners -- very few marquee acts touring, and the ones that were had played Lolla recently. The festival even acknowledged they probably over skewed towards a younger audience last year in interviews.
To find a rock heavy top line one only needs to go back to... 2018. The National, Jack White, Arctic Monkeys, and Vampire Weekend offered a rock headliner every single night. This stuff ebbs and flows based on trends and available acts, but I'd say looking at the festival line-ups so far this year it's likely that this year will have more rock to offer than 2019.
My current thinking:
Pearl Jam - Guns N Roses - Kendrick Lamar - Miley Cyrus My Chemical Romance - Lizzo - Billie Eilish - Kygo
GNR could easily be replaced by RATM, RHCP or even the Foos -- just feels like Slash was booked last year for a reason. Miley could give way to an exclusive American Ellie Goulding festival booking (only doing Lolla Stockholm at the moment). Bottom line seems fairly likely, unless Kygo isn't actually top 8.
Pearl Jam is still a big swing, but with a new album out and supposedly no dates within the radius clause for the rumored spring NA tour, I think they might finally come back and try to capture a new audience.
