i love how people act like Limp Bizkit is the only band that's obviously ridiculous when viewed with 20 years hindsight, like they're going to be seriously playing 100 Gecs for their kids in 2041.
tbf there is a lot of overlap on the Venn diagram of “Limp Bizkit fans” and “100 gecs fans”.

Certain hyperpop acts will age better than others, I think
certain acts transcend their niche genres, it's true. this is why people still listen to Ratt

i find the occasional poop jokes pretty cringe also, but acting like that's all he is is just wrong. dude can put on a really entertaining show, especially when he has some instrumental backup. watched this stream a few weeks ago with my cousin who is a big fan (and now getting his own loop station!) and it has some great moments. song that starts at the 1 hour mark is pretty sweet.
Probably irony. Doesn't mean they couldn't be fun to see. Everyone knows Durst is a tool, but I always liked Wes and Lethal. Also, how do you not go see them if they're playing even if just for schadenenfreude.
You know how some white people like to make racist jokes and comments, but, like, ironically, because OBVIOUSLY they're not REALLY racist, so it's totally hilarious and OK, but then the idea emerged that ironic racism isn't really that much better than actual racism when it comes to what it puts out into the cultural discourse?
That's kinda how I feel about ironic Limp Bizkit appreciation.

Different strokes, there's definitely a handful of great hip-hop bookings here I would love on the Roo lineup (Freddie Gibbs, JPEGMAFIA, and Princess Nokia especially), but pound for pound almost none of the acts I'm most excited for at Roo are here
i mean you could do that with Lolla too, which has Kaytranada, TNGHT, Gibbs, JPEGMafia, Brockhampton, Slowthai, Earthgang, Whitney, White Reaper, etc.
there are different names on each, but its not as if one is head and shoulders above the other in terms of quality
As someone who has been to each festival once and doesn't have any vested interest in arguing that one put out a better lineup than the other, I don't know how you can't say Bonnaroo is a decent amount better than Lolla. Bonnaroo is like a B/B- lineup and this is taking classes on the weekends to make sure it has a passing grade.

there are different ways to qualify "better". Bonnaroo is absolutely better for my tastes (and plenty of others), but that doesn't mean it's objectively better in terms of the quality of acts booked.

Hmm. So just pulling some sub-headliners at random you're arguing that MMJ, Jason Isbell, Janelle Monae, Leon Bridges, Phoebe Bridgers, etc. aren't "objectively better in terms of quality" than Marshmello, Journey, Illenium, Roddy Rich, Jack Harlow, etc.? Tough argument, but go for it.
The only possible argument that these lineups are even close is in terms of fit for their demographic. At which point that person would be arguing Lolla has completely abandoned anything but mainstream pop fans.

I think Bonnaroo is better than this, but the also have all of Thursday with 2 decent acts and we just give it a pass for that.

“Liking Limo Bizkit is basically racism”
I'm not saying liking Limp Bizkit is racist, but I imagine the Venn Diagram of Limp Bizkit fans and racists has a decent overlap.

i mean doing exactly that, I could argue that Da Baby is objectively better than Lil Baby, that Kaytranada is objectively better than literally any electronic act on Bonnaroo's lineup, that Brockhampton is better than G-Eazy, etc. Just because some acts on one lineup are objectlvely better than some acts on another lineup doesn't mean one is substantially better than the other. This isn't a hard point to comprehend.
I think Bonnaroo's lineup is better, but not to the point where i'd be trashing Lolla while feting Bonnaroo. Bonnaroo is also much more my taste, while Lolla caters to a different demographic, but I'm not so arrogant as to claim that all music I don't personally like is "bad."

Ok. Agree to disagree if you're looking at it as an "objective" festival ranking and don't think Bonnaroo is clearing better. I'm also not "feting" Bonnaroo, I think its an ok lineup, this is just pretty bad no matter how I slice it (my tastes, objectivity, diversity, quality, etc.)

I will. Play it for my kids now. They love that shit. I’ll also have a blast at that Limp Bizkit set.
People are weird, and love to complain about stupid shit. If you can’t find fun at this Lolla, or P4K, or RF, then i don’t know what you’re looking for. The only thing that factors in the most for me is the $
