Seriously, though, did I miss a moment when people actually started wanting Limp Bizkit to do things, again? I thought the world had kind of agreed that they were terrible and it was better if they went away.
Unless...is this, like, an ironic thing? Like, people are going to show up at their set and just laugh about how shitty they are?
Probably irony. Doesn't mean they couldn't be fun to see. Everyone knows Durst is a tool, but I always liked Wes and Lethal. Also, how do you not go see them if they're playing even if just for schadenenfreude.
You know how some white people like to make racist jokes and comments, but, like, ironically, because OBVIOUSLY they're not REALLY racist, so it's totally hilarious and OK, but then the idea emerged that ironic racism isn't really that much better than actual racism when it comes to what it puts out into the cultural discourse?
That's kinda how I feel about ironic Limp Bizkit appreciation.
the hip hop on this is incredible and I'm sure ACLs won't be as good unfortunately.
I do feel like it's missing a bigger/more exciting name.
like being the only fest w Bruno, or booking Ari before Coachella*, everyone on here is a standard booking other than Journey or Bizkit and they're both not high enough billed to really pop off the page
*actually, might have that wrong but I can't remember how the drop outs worked
Different strokes, there's definitely a handful of great hip-hop bookings here I would love on the Roo lineup (Freddie Gibbs, JPEGMAFIA, and Princess Nokia especially), but pound for pound almost none of the acts I'm most excited for at Roo are here
i mean you could do that with Lolla too, which has Kaytranada, TNGHT, Gibbs, JPEGMafia, Brockhampton, Slowthai, Earthgang, Whitney, White Reaper, etc.
there are different names on each, but its not as if one is head and shoulders above the other in terms of quality
Yeah like I said, different strokes. The names I listed move the needle in a much bigger way for me and my friends than anything here does

“Liking Limo Bizkit is basically racism” is not where I was expecting the dialog to go today but I’m here for it

I understand completely what you're saying. I feel the same way about Journey, but more power to those who want to see them. When we were kids, my brother loved their old shit, but he soured on them completely after Greg Rollie left around 80 or 81.

Limp Bizkit is fine. They don’t suck anymore or less than half the other shit people listen to around here, but at least they’re bringing something different that the major multi-genres haven’t had. Like ya, they’re pretty corny, but so is Marc Ribellet and everyone gives him a pass.
do we like white reaper now? don't ever see anyone defending them for Roo 17.
(illenium made a huge jump in billing from 17 roo to this. almost as much as Dua would)
Really enjoyed the last White Reaper album and will see them at Firefly. Not sure how much they move the needle for people but I love that power pop kind of sound (and I’ve heard they’re more aggressive live). Would not make me travel to this fest for sure.
what bands should they have booked? The people clamoring for more acts like Jimmy Eat World certainly aren’t selling me on rock being relevant in 2021.
Nah, my gif comment was mostly a joke based on the fact that I have nothing with which to actually counter your point. Don't mind me - I'm just over here coping with the fact that I still enjoy music festivals as an experience but am watching them swing (justifiably, based on, as you say, pop culture relevance) very far from The Stuff That I Like.
$60 in fees and they finally got out of their own ass and gave people a cheap shipping option! Tickets are still in the first tier which is surprising.

I think Limp Bizkit is terrible. I’d probably see them if I went to this. Also there’s not really great undercard shit that is going to be good enough to miss the spectacle.

You'd have to. I know both songs are completely cheesy, but I'd have to get in Nookie and Break Stuff. I'm not going bust a cartwheel out in the mosh pit, but you know it would be fun.

i love how people act like Limp Bizkit is the only band that's obviously ridiculous when viewed with 20 years hindsight, like they're going to be seriously playing 100 Gecs for their kids in 2041.

Certain hyperpop acts will age better than others, I think
