That looks fake as fuck, really. Why is any amount of the name recognizable? I'd black that shit out if I was offering info that might ruin someone's career. Or better, quote it in text with *** instead of screenshotting.
Bruh. 1. Didn't believe that was Fred Durst until I heard his voice. 2. What a weird vibe. He was so mellow. Did Durst recently watch Woodstock 99? He seems remorseful. 😂🤣
I seriously sent a photo of him to my friends and asked if they knew who that was? Hilarity ensued.
i really thought half of his commentary was towards that documentary and thought that was incredibly self aware. he basically did the same stuff he did at woodstock but added in "is everybody happy??"

yeah the "FUCK that shit" seemed like a, "we hear about that show all the time and we're sorry for whatever part we played in it, and we don't condone whatever our fans may have done"

Which would be multiple confirmed instances of sexual assault and gang rape.
"Whatever our fans may have done" is so wishy-washy, and even that has to be inferred from subtext.
I don't know what you want from me or Fred durst here but he's in no way responsible for people in a crowd of thousands being the sort of people who think sexual assault is ok.

I dunno...maybe an acknowledgment that it's not pure coincidence that this type of shit went down at a Limp Bizkit performance, specifically? That a lot of their lyrical content and attitudes at the time were grossly misogynist and helped foment the kind of atmosphere that could lead to that stuff? Maybe (from Durst) some self-awareness beyond understanding that a lot of people think of his band as a joke, now, and leaning into it?
I don't know. I guess I'm frustrated that, in an era when we're doing a lot of societal reckoning with privileged, white, male entitlement and the rage that comes when it's challenged, we're all kind of re-embracing one of the musical embodiments of it because I guess nothing matters and everything is for the lulz.

Or, I'm just old. Whatever.
We are barely embracing it. A band from 20-25 years ago is going on tour and some people want to see them. I'm not even a fan, but the event was 20 years ago and it was a festival, not a show only by Limp Bizkit.
Look, I do not want to sit here and defend Limp Bizkit, but they aren't responsible for Woodstock 99 any more than the Beach Boys are responsible for Charles Manson.

I mean, was that type of stuff happening only during the Limp Bizkit performance or throughout the entire festival? It was a shitshow by the time Saturday hit. The documentary had a narrative to specifically focus on that genre compared to everything else that was booked. The place burned down during a Red Hot Chili Peppers performance which, besides being awful, is a band that doesn't strike me as one that would illicit that response (besides the cover song at the end).

I mean, Tyler performed Tron Cat on Friday and no one had an issue here

The whole “free love” myth was a key part of the marketing for the Woodstock revivals. The organizers were almost explicitly telling dudes “come here and you’ll get laid.” That festival would have been just as much of a disaster if they hadn’t been there.
Those dudes at Woodstock knew this was their last chance to get their pencil dicks hard cause the landscape was changing. The whole MTV turning pop thing really upset people and you saw that in the movie. Who the hell finds it justified to throw shit at Carson Daly of all people. He wasnt the one making those phone calls to request the music videos, was he? In the long run MTV made a bigger plunge regarding their content but at this point it was a cycle like anything else.
To bring the two topics of questionable past behavior together, I don't understand why DaBaby is suddenly getting a wave of cancellations, when it's not new? He wasn't a saint before Rolling Loud. He did some sketchy shit well before being booked at these events, or doing songs with Dua Lipa, who apologizes for him and acts like he was possessed by Pazuzu making him say and do these vicious things.
Limp Bizkit has always had awful, embarrassing section of fans. My wife likes them, and I just don't get it. We watched that set, and some of the lyrics in their songs are cringe-worthy. Although I did find his outfit funny, leaning into the old-man-out-of-place appearance (better costume than Wes Borland). Anyway, who the hell at Lollapalooza thought they were a good fit???

The Rolling Loud comments being livestreamed and being easily shareable on social media is likely what did it.

Seeing how the Woodstock documentary just dropped, it turned out to be a great booking as LB appears to be on everyones mind despite how bad Woodstock went. They were controlling a crowd of people that were barely alive when they were at their peak. I'm all for left field bookings.
All these replies really prove the hypothesis that it's truly all about the Timing. When certain things happen and how they line up to create a thought-provoking headline story.

imagine how many bands this is true about though.
they kicked ass for anybody that is a fan. everybody there seemed to have a great time so seems like a solid booking to me

I think as has been pointed out, it really has everything to do with how the person in question acts after the fact. Da Baby is digging his own hole. Me personally am not too bothered by him or his remarks. Don’t get me wrong, what he said was ignorant and bigoted af, but I’m also not naïve to ignore the fact that most artists in Hip-Hop culture have similar views. It’s an obvious issue if you look back at the content of the music itself. However, I don’t look up to him, i just like his music. I separate the two. A lot of people seem to have to find the artists themselves (or at least their personas) likable to support their art. So when he’s doubling down on his stupid ass remarks instead of just apologizing and trying to move on, this is what you get. And for good reason. I’m glad the public is letting people know that this kind of stuff isn’t going to slide anymore.
