I don’t think it’s a stupid comment. There’s a very large amount of people, myself included, who have grammar and subject-verb agreement rules drilled into our brains. We get anxiety when we see things that go against what we were taught to be “correct.”
So I guess the answer is we are supposed to re-learn and adjust, but it just takes time and patience. I would much rather learn a new set of neutral pronouns than to adjust my concept of plural vs singular

no i get that, i think its just the way it was worded. its also a much newer identifier so its gonna be harder for people who havent been exposed to it as much and associate it with a plural meaning.
Yeah. It's a learning process. I didn't know any openly enby people until maybe two years ago.
I find this comment actually very important. My roommate, decided to be seen as they and not she while in Brooklyn, but I've known them since high school --- so what is difficult for me is that on most of their documents they still use their deadname for ease until they get an official state name change. So as someone who clearly works with people who identify as they, I find it much easier when I'm presented to them as a them than re-learning my current connection. It's like re-wiring your brain and I think we have to give people some room to talk about it, from someone who works with almost all men and it's weird when you get into conversations about issues like this. Yes - I openly try to engage my co-workers in politics and societal questions to gauge who they are instead of just sitting in the corner (which I can do with much grace)

Anyone else waiting on the verdict of the additional charges before giving up Ignition Remix? Everyone deserves their day in court right?
I remember creeping by his set in 2013. Seemed like the majority of people there were having a religious experience. The man obviously is an amazing entertainer. But like, for literal decades people ignored gigantic red flags because of that same talent. I myself am guilty of listening to 12 play, trapped in the closet, etc many times post Dave Chappelle skits.
To this day, some people will argue its a case of love the art, hate the artist. And I think you can justify enjoying his music to a point from that mindset. I think it was Nick Cave who said something along the lines of Bad people who make good art, redeem themselves in those moments in that way. Not sure if that applies here though. Either way, Ignition was fire.

I think there's a lot of merit in his words here. That said, once I know the person is a shitty person, I'm probably not going to continue to endorse them with my dollar or my time. However, if their beautiful art (this is really specific to music for me) was an important part of the soundtrack of my life prior to me finding out how shitty they are, I'm not going to eliminate that art from my listening. There are quite a few Ryan Adams songs that meant a lot to me for a good chunk of my adult life. When I hear them, I'm whisked back to a time or a place or a person or a moment, and isn't that one of the reasons we all love music? To deprive ourselves of that is not going to hurt the offender - only ourselves. But he probably won't ever get another dollar from me, short of some historic and sincere redemption story.

She has a history of being totally oblivious to her own statements and how narcissistic and out of touch they can be. Still remember her stating that Odell Beckham jr ignored her at an event because he didn't want to duck her and thought she had the wrong body type. Simply because she didnt get the response she wanted?
Now a bunch of lgbtq people are roasting her for acting like some icon of the community of whatever
I think Girls is one of the best shows of its era but it's embarrassing to say that to anyone.
I liked the first few seasons but fell off at the end because it was feeling extra pretentious and annoying to me. Like, I typically can watch plenty of shows where people say there are no likable characters but for some reason this show made me more annoyed with everyone at some point. Still found it funny at times and always liked Adam Driver's stuff but I think the show just lost me. Maybe i'll revisit it at some point. Might also be related to Lena Dunham being more in the news/media with some of these foot in mouth takes and stuff so maybe that soured me a bit but who knows?

Adam is like the most unlikable character on the show!
The characters are annoying but I liked watching them be annoying and mean to each other. One of my favorite lines is when Marnie's mom says "no one's going to want to be your friend if you talk to them like this" and Marnie says "I talk to my friends way worse than this!"
That tweet isn’t that bad people just like dunking on her at this point (which is totally understandable).
Yeah, this isn't terrible. Just another case of putting her foot in her mouth. It came from a kind of good place I guess but she doesn't know how to read the room sometimes.
