i know matt healy is problematic or whatever but it's not much of a burn to say lucy performed at a fundraiser for an LGBT nonprofit in dec 2022 and one of the guys she was playing with said some bad things months later. pretty weak internet bullshit imo.
He’s also from Macon, which (1) is not a small town, and (2) has one of the highest crime rates in America.
Maybe I'm trippin but I've always felt like small towns are always have way more violence and poverty then the big city's. Like I've been on the south side of Chicago my entire life and yeah some hoods I avoid at night, but driving through smaller towns like Joilet / Kankakee / Peoria freak me out way more and look way more run down. People are just at active.
the reference in the response tweet is flying over my head.
Same. And I tried to read the responses to the response tweet on Twitter but of course none of them will load on the app.
It’s so easy to just say “butwhatabout this questionable thing you did” rather than acknowledge the criticisms someone levels at another person you admire. Everyone does problematic shit all the time.
This is totally a guess, built solely off a gut feeling with no factual evidence to back this up, but if given the chance I feel like Matt Healy would kill at least double the amount of Middle Eastern civilian children with drones as Obama did.
To early to tell. I will say, I'm someone who never made a account, but used Twitter all the time. Now that I can't see tweets anymore without making an account, I haven't used it at all. I refuse to my an account and won't be making a threads account either.
Most of what I see in Atlanta, I would describe as “tomfoolery”, like two people arguing on a train or someone trying to sell liquor. However, I do see a lot of dangerous shit. People racing on 85, have been threatened to be shot, I always have more altercations in Atlanta. I’ve seen car break ins from a far, shootings used to happen down the street from my old place, have heard shots, etc. Atlanta can be pretty rough and you do need to be aware of your surrounding even while driving.
Regardless, this is all for show. I live in a county next to Fulton. I talk to a lot of people who are scared of going to Atlanta for anything and like to pretend like this shit doesn’t happen here but it totally does. America is just a dangerous country in general. Most of these guys who pretend that their town has “honor” or some unified sense of Justice are the same kinds who go to their bars and start fights.
My in laws think we’re going to get murdered any time we go to Atlanta. We’re not even going to tell them we’re going to Chicago.
We're going to the National Grammar Rodeo at the Sheraton Hotel in Canada
Ari Melber did a piece on it yesterday where the traffic is down, frequent posters are posting less and the company has lost half its value since Musk took it over. The segment also capped on Musk pretty hard for "free speech" except that since he's bought twitter, they've authorized 83% of the censorship requests from foreign governments where it used to be around 50%. Also how he silenced journalists critical of him for a while and even had more instances of hypocrisy and bullshit he was peddling to the point where even some of the far right media people who thought he'd be the savior of "conservative" (i.e. bullshit) free speech are now wondering if it's just going to fail. I hope it does. I don't use twitter much and also do not have an account.
“This guy killed middle eastern children with drones, I don’t want to be on his playlist.”
“Shut up bitch you sang a song one time with a dude who jacks it to fucked up porn and fat shamed/racially misidentified Ice Spice.”
Problematic take on both ends. Most of our presidents have been war criminals by the standard that some of us feel. - Killing an entire family with bombs IS more impactful than fat shaming and racially identifying
But y'all can use Obama as a totem. He did good shit. He did some awful shit too
edit: Also I don't give a fuck what Obama listens to, and while some might idolize a person.. Idolization is gross, he wasn't your perfect leader and no one will be. JFK (and thus Lyndon Johnson) did GREAT things for law about social equality - but he also fucked around like no one's business. Should I put a sharp arrow to any of them? No.

don’t get me wrong, I think every president in recent history, other than perhaps JFK and Carter, deserve the same level, or in some cases more (Trump & Bush Jr in particular) disdain. Just tired of people idolizing Obama as if he wasn’t in the same ballpark of fucked up as the rest of them. He does as a good job of branding himself as this chill dude who loves basketball and music, but he’s still a scumbag… anyone who rises to that level politically is almost certainly a morally bankrupt person, it’s the nature of the game.
Calling Obama a war criminal isn’t endorsing any other president as not being one, especially when it’s in response to her being included on a list he made. Lucy, and The Lucy Dacus Band, are hardcore Bernie supporters
Y’all remember when the (at the time) Dixie Chicks had their career torpedoed by calling Bush a war criminal? Don’t do that shit to Lucy.
I don’t think that’s a thing to actually be concerned about here. Pablo almost certainly posted it joking around because the whataboutism is so terrible.

But I agree with the sentiment.
oh no I agree the left is far less likely to go after someone like this than the early 2000s right wing was, I’m just making a comparison
