Lol I read cancellation poster before I read the context of it - the poster said due to "the controversial conduct and remarks made by UK artist Matty Healy" and was already ready to hate on him some more but he's totally in the right this time. You're off the hook this time. Matty
basically, on the lyric video for the song, there’s newspaper clippings in the background. when you look at what the clippings are, you find out it’s a newspaper article from the 50s in response to a man in Petal, MS who exposed and criticized a white supremacist in town. the article was essentially threatening him for putting the expose in the paper and thus the epitome of “try that in a small town”
