Its weird because a few years ago I started noticing that a lot of his scenes were filmed either alone or what looked to be green screen/stand ins or something. Like, there were many family scenes that were edited weirdly where he wasn't usually in the same shot as the others and I made up my own conspiracy theory that he probably had issues with the woman who plays the mother so they just figured ways to not need to film together as much as possible.
I didn't really think too much on it cuz there were still some scenes that were clearly shot with everyone but there were a lot of weird ones still. Like he'd be holding up the newspaper and be blocking his face except when he had to deliver a punchline which would then look like they just filmed him at the table.
Either way, it doesn't sound like he was going crazy and groping everyone but it does seem like he can't take a hint/read the room and let his fame make him think he can say whatever. He admitted being talked to multiple times by HR but just doesn't see how he could be at fault at all
Honestly, after reading that Vanity Fair interview, this whole thing sounds fucking stupid. Turning incidents like this into bigger deals just belittles all the shit out there that is actually a big deal.

nah, clearly there were years of small incidents that added up.
definitely didn't read it as someone who had one mistake recently that's blowing up.
it's definitely a situation where someone has been repeatedly warned and allowed it to become a big thing by refusing to adapt
According to a source on the show, a camera assistant made a complaint to her department head about Garlin’s use of the word. After the actor found out, he reportedly put his hands around her and kept saying “vagina” in her face over and over again. Overall, Garlin’s go-to jokes that a number of people on the show found offensive were talking about grandma’s vagina, balls and brassier, a co-worker said. Additionally, he would not address some longtime female crew members by name, using instead nicknames that some also considered offensive.
so you can decide how you want to define that type of behavior, at a minimum he was just being an annoying asshole, which is enough to get you fired from a job IMO.

Not that having someone walk around joking about grandma’s vagina sounds like the best work environment, but I have trouble imagining it being something I’d report someone for. His response of yelling vagina in her face repeatedly is totally unacceptable, though. What grown person acts like that? That’s some 10-year-old kid shit.
The stuff in the article about him yelling at the stand-in to get the fuck out of his way is also pretty messed up. And then to turn around and say he was just joking is super weak. Own that you were being an asshole. Apologize if you are sorry. Don’t try to pull saying it was a joke.

I think it's probably a case of repeated issues and not just one or two things. Like, it seems like if it happened here and there some could just roll their eyes and ignore it/work around it but I am guessing multiple years of this stuff plus Garlin never feeling like he should adjust his behavior and that others on the cast and crew need to adapt to him just finally hit the boiling point.
Like, I highly doubt anything will happen to him on Curb your Enthusiasm. On that set/cast it's a bunch of comedians and a lot of people that are more "old school" and not "woke" or whatever that means these days but I'm sure his style of on-set humor and behavior is probably more accepted there while it was probably a bit too much on the set of the Goldbergs.
I remember listening to him on a couple of podcasts (Comedy Bang Bang and I think Hollywood Handbook possibly) and thinking he was kind of an asshole because of the way he was throwing off the improv and games and just felt like he thought he was a much bigger deal than I thought he was. I bet he's just kind of a dick and after many complaints it finally hit the point of "we are going to investigate this" which led to his dismissal.
I'm sure he'll be fine and probably complain at some point about cancel culture or kids being too sensitive these days or some junk.
also seems increasingly clear the jokes he suddenly couldn't recall to the journalist were him just yelling vagina and just saying you had to be there is pretty obvious guilt that he knew it sounds bad on paper

My friend's uncle is a stand up in LA and says Garlin is a prick at stand up shows. The uncle was hosting and Garlin told him not to tell any jokes lol. My friend told me that like eight years ago.

I don't think that's what happened. I don't think there was any joke or there was anything to *grow* from. He was just trying to explain something to his daughter and then brought it up publicly and people took it to mean that he was saying the word constantly until his daughter said something.
Chrissy Steiger is probably the most unlikeable celebrity I’ve heard of.
I've never even heard of her.
meant to say Teigen
She's John Legend's wife. Basically just a rich woman on twitter who thinks she's more important and liked than she actually is but is very mean spirited and full of herself.

Not to defend Chrissy Teigen or whatever but she's famous in her own right aside from being Legend's wife. She was a famous model before they were married.

Oh. I know who that is. She doesn't really bother me. She's occasionally been entertaining on socials.

I feel like she's usually guilty of putting her foot in her mouth or being oblivious/not reading the room in some situations. I don't recall any thing where she was like malicious or a complete asshole but maybe I missed it. Was it her or Kim Kardashian that was mocked because of talking about being stressed or depressed after a long day of tending to their horses or some shit like that lol?

She was a real bitch to Courtney Stodden, the girl that Doug Hutchison married when she was 16. She tweeted stuff at her publicly and also apparently sent her private messages telling her to kill herself.

That's addressed in the article as well as her apology and admission that she was a troll.
Sometimes people do shitty things. I feel like it's possible for people to be remorseful and not have it be the final word on them.

I was just responding to ITM’s statement that he didn’t remember anything about her being malicious or the like to say that there was at least one incident of her being malicious. I didn’t make any judgments as to whether she should be forgiven or not because I just don’t give enough of a shit about Chrissy Teigan to put any thought into whether she deserves forgiveness.
