I'm a little late to this topic, but I gotta say I have been so saddened by Joe Rogan's progression into whatever he is now. Back in like 2017-18 I felt like he had really cool guests on. Of course you had the occasional conspiracy theorist but most of them weren't all that bad, and the best of the guests were extremely interesting. He also let them share what they thought but did press them from time to time. Really since like halfway through Trump's presidency he completely changed. Been moving further and further to the right and of course all this idiotic covid stuff. Essentially just another conservative grifter at this point after having Bernie Sanders on and saying he was going to vote for him just 2 years ago. I haven't listened to an entire episode in probably a year and a half, but I've tried a few times. Its just complete ear garbage if you have any ounce of rational thought left in your head. I guess whatever happened to him to make him the way he is is what he's doing to his global audience of millions. It sucks and I hope he stops because he's big enough that it really is harmful to society
I still don’t think he’s as bad as people say. I’ve watched a lot of his podcasts because he interviews a lot of interesting people. I’ve never even felt like he is right leaning in all the episodes I’ve watched. But he’s way out there with the covid shit and people going to him for advice is ridiculous.
That last thing isn't gonna happen tho. Can only go bigger from 'just hosting a podcast'.
I genuinely looked up for the way he could question his guests. He seemed to have done his share of research every time a guest came on and at the same time, like you said let them share whatever is on their mind or what they wanted to talk about. That's a skill that I rarely see - or I just don't consume enough talking shows/podcasts to form an opinion about how great of a host he or his level of skill is. But you're right. Until like 2018 I felt like he was fairly left but that really took a turn in the past couple of years and especially since covid. The nonsense he just spouts is insane and is in great contrast with 'big' episodes from a couple of years ago. Like sure, he'd have a conversation and have interesting guests on. But nowadays it feels even more as the 'Joe Rogan'-show as it ever was. Or something.
Yeah and on top of being way more full of himself he doesn't really care about making guests he wants to agree with back up their points. A few weeks ago I listened to a portion of his recent podcast with Bret Weinstein just to see how out of touch it was re: covid, and its actually troubling because Weinstein is a PhD (in Evolutionary Biology I think), so he can gain a bit of trust from people who don't know better even though a PhD in Evolutionary Biology teaches you very little about immunology or medicine in general. They also pick tons of little anecdotes to make points which any scientist should know is just a total BS way of going about things. Especially when the sample size for vaccinated people with no lasting side effects is literally in the billions. And these are the types of things Joe doesn't press anyone on because he's their too dumb or he just likes what he hears.
Anyways I'm just grateful I'm not brainwashed by that shit like many college-aged white men unfortunately are

Eh, Joe Rogan always kinda sucked. He used to be more harmless, but he was always that friend who thought he was an expert in something just because he watched a TED Talk about it. You give that kind of arrogance a ton of money and influence it’s always gonna go this way..

So I guess I just saw that Louis CK and Marilyn Manson are both nominated for Grammy's and the Grammy's is like "We don't care about people's history".
Remember this when someone legitimately tries to convince you that "Cancel culture" is real.

I get not purchasing content from creators that you think are shitty but I understand philosophically someone not extending the same standard when comparing their art to other art. That said, I don't have any objections to the people deciding the nominees being like 'fuck that douche' and not supporting an artist that they think sucks.
It's wild to me that Alexis was my guess for the initial abuse but she didn't even meet him till after that and he abused her too. Fucked up situation all around.
as someone whos had people very close to them undergo sexual assault, fuck him, hope he kills himself. the world is better off without people like that and if saying that bans me from this forum then so be it. im just so fucking angry

Alexis has responded btw stating that, while the relationship was unhealthy on both sides, he categorically denies abusing her and states he is pursuing legal action. Fucking hell.

If even a fraction of this is true (and I imagine most of it is), he can f*ck off forever and rot in hell.

Katy Mae posted a few years ago that this guy was a known scumbag in the local scene so I buy this

She posted on her insta stories today a message from Alexis's ex (the long term one) where the ex states she is deciding how to comment about his torment of her and that everyone who works with him or works with someone who works with him is an enabler and she hopes it keeps them from sleeping at night at the very least.

This all seems pretty low key, and good lord, this show should have ended at least two seasons ago, but Jeff Garlin is off of the Goldbergs after allegations about his behavior making people uncomfortable.

Read this a couple weeks ago. I don't doubt he probably deserved the axe.
got it, thanks for sharing. i definitely think that if you are a "hugger", and it's been made clear that physical contact isn't welcome in your work environment, you need to stop that. sounds like he doesn't want to stop hugging, so that's not good.
i can appreciate that a writer's room on a comedy show, or a set on a comedy show, has different norms in terms of language from a regular office environment. like joke pitching by it's very nature is going to cross the line sometimes. but physical contact is physical contact regardless of whether you're in hollywood or an accounting firm. don't touch people that don't want to be touched.
