Its Def not because I think if Win got sued or charged with something thats enough of a push to get people to pay attention. I have a longtime friend who doesnt give a shit. Said "their marriage, their business". But he agreed their statements are bullshit though. And have some friends who are hardcore fans and are still going cause some people are coming out of town for the show that they havent seen in years.

Being in an open marriage/open relationship is one thing. Using your power of celebrity to manipulate impressionable people half your age to have sex with you is another.

He didn't just manipulate women that were younger than him, he actually physically sexually assaulted them.

Feels like the Louis CK shit where people will respond defensively that "Well in the accusation he asked them if he could do it, they didn't say no (thought he was joking) and then when he started to do it they left and he let them go so it's really not that bad" meanwhile the original article about accusations had at least 3 or 4 other women sharing their stories which didn't include consent and did include unfair power dynamics. And that's ONLY the handful of women who came forward and were strong enough to share their experiences. I'm sure there were many more.

So in this case it feels the same in that it's not "Oh, well he cheated on his wife but they have an open marriage so what's the big deal?" and more about the other shit like forcing himself on them in some ways. Like, if this was an isolated story of a 32 year old guy in an open marriage having sex with a 21 year old fan it would feel kind of weird but not something that's worth crucifying the guy over. But once there are multiple people coming forward with similar stories it starts to paint a pattern. And when guys keep getting older but the women they're hanging with/interested in keep staying the same age it just begins to get into creep territory.

There's tons of asshole guys who take advantage of their fame and power. With the music industry stories coming out over the last decade it seems like part of it is that the guys were nerdy/geeky/ugly/picked on when they were younger and now that they're famous musicians they are making up for lost time. Which then leads to shit Win and Ryan Adams and others using their status/fame to get hot young girls that they wanted (but couldn't get) when they were younger/

Oh, there's certainly an aspect of power in all these stories. Those recent released info about Vince McMahon paying like 15-20 million bucks in hush money to women he had affairs with/harrassed/took advantage of over a certain amount of time. If the dude really just wanted to bang women hiring a professional is much cheaper and less abusive. But no, these people like to push the line and also I think the "getting away with it" is part of it all.

But you see similar stuff with celebrities or powerful people who routinely get DUI's despite being way more than able to afford a driver. It makes you question what it's really about.

Eh not really. He’s definitely a galaxy brain so I don’t follow him too closely, but the Ukrainians he points out as being Nazis are, in fact, Nazis. He doesn’t seem to be pro-Russia so much as anti-western propaganda/people who put Ukrainian flags in their Twitter profiles without thinking. Obviously if you go too far in that direction you become indistinguishable from being straight up pro-Russian, but I don’t read him as too out of the mainstream for the terminally online.

Yeah, if you follow what Boeckner's been posting, I think it's pretty clear he's just a moron who got grifted into sharing Russian propaganda to prove how much smarter he is than the rest of the online left. I would add that there is a significant amount of people who are not bothered by the accusations. Look at Aziz Ansari, who is back doing shows and TV now like nothing happened
