It looks like there will be 8 acts per day. I suppose they could still add 2 local bands so the totals come to 9 per day like last year.
Either way, that's not bad, and the lineup we've seen is solid. I was sort of expecting each day to be a little shorter/thinner than last year's one-day affair, but if they essentially double the slate that's cool. I don't know many Columbus bands but I wouldn't mind seeing Dana again.
This has me wondering what the schedule will be like. Eventbrite lists a 4pm start time. Do you guys think we can count on that? Day one being a Friday complicates things a bit, and I'd prefer to be there at the beginning but I need to figure out the driving and Airbnb check in and whatnot. I was thinking I could work a short day but maybe it'll be best to just take it off, since it's a 2+ hour drive.
Eventbrite listed single day tix & provided a lineup for each day. After the headliner, the bands are in alphabetical order.
Friday: Twin Peaks w/ Combo Chimbita, Control Top, Mattson 2, Mikal Cronin (Switched On), and Ohmme
Saturday: Oh Sees w/ Bobb Hatt, Death Valley Girls, Guerilla Toss, Habibi, Holy Wave, Protomartyr, The Lemons, and Windhand
I'm thinking 4pm is correct for Fri. I would think they'd have to start earlier on Sat.
I've been to 3 festivals Dana played & I still haven't seen them. One of these days...

I think I'm in for Saturday. Bummer missing Control Top and Combo Chimbita but that Friday lineup doesn't entice me enough to make it worth taking a day off work and getting accommodations for myself and my pets.

Ron Gallo? That's a nice addition, in my book. I was unsure what to expect the first time but he puts on a fun show.
Yeah, Ron Gallo's awesome. I was hoping that was an announcement for NMF. He's someone I wouldn't mind seeing every year at NMF. Make him the new Michael Hurley!

Anybody familiar with the area around The Bluestone, especially Old Town East and just North of Broad? I booked an Air Bnb within walking distance and might be looking for a good spot for a nightcap, at least. Preferably not the gay bar a couple blocks away (not that there's anything wrong with that!).
Got a couple friends in the greater Columbus area but but they don't know the neighborhood. Any suggestions are appreciated, whether for bars, restaurants or diners, record stores, or anything else cool you can think of. I'll want to see most of the bands but have no plans for Sunday morning or afternoon, and will need to eat at some point. On this trip I'd rather avoid High St., Short North, etc., unless there's something particularly awesome I can see or do on Sunday after Melted.

I’m not super familiar with that area, but I can recommend The Oracle as a really cool dive bar in OTE.

Any chance Melted gets cancelled? The capacity of the Bluestone is only what, 1000? Not big enough to be a major concern, in my mind, but most of the artists will be coming from outside the area (and touring widely), Columbus cancelled most of the Arnold Classic, and some other upcoming festivals are being cancelled, though SXSW and Ultra are a lot larger, of course.
Ohio is just beginning coronavirus testing, and although I haven't heard of any confirmed cases in the state, at least a few people are being monitored due to having recently been in China or in contact with others who have contracted it.
Seeing them just fully admit that ticket sales have totally stopped is kind of sad. I hope this still happens this weekend but I don’t know why they’d make that post if there weren’t serious concerns of cancellation.

Obviously this type of stuff is a fluid situation, but my wife works at the Bluestone and there hasn't been any communication to them about potential cancellation. Looks like it's going to happen even though they might take a beating on it.

I'm still planning on going but I kind of wish I'd paid the extra $15 or whatever to make my Airbnb reservation refundable. I considered it because it wasn't a huge difference, but I've never had to cancel a reservation for anything, so I figured I'd save a few bucks. Hah.
Hopefully they are able to reschedule or at least book a few of these acts for NMF (assuming that's not in danger too)
I mean, if the governor is putting a mandatory ban/restriction on all mass gatherings (as sites as reason for cancellation for Melted) then it sounds like NMF would also have no choice but to cancel as well, depending how long the mandate lasts of course. But I’d say they’re at serious risk of cancellation.

I didn't see the definition of mass gathering, but whether that's 100, 250, or 1000 people it really doesn't matter at this point. I haven't seen anything cancelled as far out as June yet, mostly for the rest of March and into April so far. Looks like everyone is in wait and see mode. The uncertainty is the worst part right now. I mean, aside from the whole deadly virus thing itself, of course.
I'm bummed about Melted, although I know it's a tiny portion of the bigger picture. I just checked CNN Business to see that the markets are tanking predictably, and there's nothing but grim news, aside from one shining ray of majorly positive light to bring us all a bit of much needed hope moving forward:

We have spent several days doing our best to salvage MELTED. It is becoming painfully clear that we are not going to find a set of make-up dates that will align for everyone involved. Unfortunately, we are going to have to officially cancel the event. This is heartbreaking news for all of us. We are working with Eventbrite now to initiate refunds. . Many of you have sent incredible messages of support and kindness throughout this ordeal, and we want you to know it has meant the world to us. We will regroup and do our best to come back at some point stronger than ever. . In the meantime, we encourage everyone to recognize our shared humanity and practice a heightened sense of empathy and understanding. These are crazy times, but we’ll get through this together, and we’ll see you again on the other side. . Health and best wishes to everyone!
