Some definite good things on here, have to go thru the dailies to see what/how to attend. A lot of this isn't my thing, but Foos, Lizzo, Wu Tang, Avetts, Brandi all worth seeing. Wu are only one I haven't seen before.
I rather go on Thursdays and Fridays because of the smaller crowds, but it looks like I'll be doing:
Weekend #1 - Saturday: The Who, Revivalists, David Sanborn & Randy Brecker, Rickie Lee Jones, Dirty Dozen plays tribute to Dave Bartholomew with Elvis Costello John Cleary & Al Jackson, GPJ Runnin' Pardners, Dr. Michael White, Erica Falls, Pell
Weekend #1 Sunday Foo Fighters, Brandi, Erykah Badu, Buddy Guy (most of those will conflict), Rebirth, Mia X & 3D Na'Tee, Joe Krown Trio, TBC Brass Band
Weekend #2 Friday Wu-Tang w/ Soul Rebels, Southside Johnny & Asbury Jukes, Leo Nocentelli, Brubeck Centennial Celebration, Hot 8, Nigel Hall, Stanton Moore
Weekend #2 Saturday Dead & Company, Isley Brothers, Count Basie Orchestra, Galactic w/ Anjelika Jelly Joseph, Tribute to Art Neville featuring Aaron The Meters & Neville Brothers Band, Big Sam, New Breed Brass Band, Khris Royal & Dark Matter,

Already decided to go to this because I haven’t been to NOLA in awhile. Really bummed Dead and Co is during iii points/Shaky Knees. Probably go in either The Who or Foos day. esteban where do I look for the after shows?

I thought III Points was in February?
There are a couple main sources, but you have to remember that they'll be updated all the way through April. Neither has 1/10th of what's going to be announced.
So far, my plan is going to be Umphrey's Friday at the Fillmore followed by Tractorbeam (have tickets for) at 2:00am at Tipitina's. Saturday is going to be Disco Biscuits at Civic (have ticket) and then Doom Flamingo at Republic at 2:00am. Sunday will be Disco Biscuits (have ticket) and not sure if I'm going out after that or just going back to work on Monday.

It was supposed to be originally but they moved it back because they couldn’t book the artists they wanted without the Coachella clause to announcing them. Would be hard to announce a festival 60 days out and move enough tickets.
Thanks for the links I’ll look into them. Honestly the Friday and Saturday you already have mapped out are going to be tough to beat regardless of what’s announced. I won’t buy tickets yet but that’s the tentative plan. Saw the biscuits a couple weeks ago and they’re as tight as I’ve ever seen.
For anyone who is going 2nd weekend, tickets for the premier [tm] of Remain In Light 40th Anniversary featuring Turkuaz w/ Jerry Harrison @ Adrian Belew go on sale at 10:00. I assume that anyone who knows about this will immediately purchase tickets. I have my alarm set to make sure I don't fuck it up and miss the show.
I’m in for both Thursdays, Sunday the first weekend, and Saturday the 2nd weekend.
If they make me choose between Foo Fighters and Brandi Carlile, I’m gonna be pissed
I don’t see how else they could do it unless she played Acura before Foo Fighters. Seems like she’s closing Gentilly. Erykah, Nora Jones and Buddy Guy would be some of the other closers. That’s a lot of talent conflicting. Brandi was kind of blow away at Voodoo, so I’d be bummed missing it. But my daughter loves Foos, and we will go that day together.

First Sunday closer conflicts will be sad. I would probably put that Adrian Belew/Turkuaz/Jerry show as my must see #1 with Erykah also right there. Want to go back. Can’t seem to convince any of my people yet.

Looks like Turkuaz will be in town both weekends since Tipitina's has them booked first weekend Friday for the early show there. It's not with Jerry & Adrian, so that's going to be a Turkuaz set. They also announced a late Spafford show Friday second weekend and a late Greyboy Allstars late night for Saturday second weekend. They also have the Daze Between Band featuring Eric Krasno (Soullive, Lettuce), Marcus King (MKB), Ivan Neville (Dumpstaphunk), Duane Trucks (WSP), Pete Levin (Levin Bros., Tony Levin's actual brother), Kevin Scott (plays with everyone), Erica Falls & Guests for Wednesday, April 29th.
CEG Nolafunk put out an email today with back-to-back nights of The Wood Brothers at Republic on May 2nd w/ Los Bayou Ramblers and May 3 with Honey Island Swamp Band.
^^ Just some new shit out today for the record.
Here's the lineup for Crawfish Festival at Central City BBQ during mid-week:
How does this festival (Essence) work? When you get a 3-day tickets, you also get access to superlounge shows? Are they close to the main venue? Their website is very bad and hard to follow.
Yeah, all the music is in the Dome unless they've expanded since I last went. The superlounges are all the club lounges and different convention rooms they have in there.

I, personally, have only bought one-day $25 tickets. I am not sure if the price is higher now than the last time I went. They only announced it today, so single day tickets will be on sale soon.

Thank you! It seems like the 3-day tickets seem to be $225 + fees, which is too much. I was only considering the option of going one day (for some of the lounge shows) as a part of possible NOLA trip.

Please let me know when you are in town. I would love to meet up.

I will def let you know if we decide to make it happen! I’ll probably be asking a lot of other questions beforehand as well 🙂
My sister got me a day pass for WK1 so I can see the Foo, only for the world to be ending so.... let's see what happens!
What’s up Zen? I thought about you a few weeks ago when I listened to it for the first time in a while. Something I learned today, beyond the threshold, Pink turns to blue, Dreams Reoccurring/Reoccurring Dreams, I will never forget you, broken home etc. that’s such a fucking great album. ——— I don’t see any way it happens unless shit completely blows over. If it does go on and you still have the 459 number, I’m going to come find you that day at an earlier show. I’m giving it less than a 5% chance the city is going to let it happen - maybe 7% weekend 2. Sucks because I have a shitload of anticipation and money invested in aftershows that I know would have been Top 10 of the year. I’ll still get to seeTurkuaz Remain in Light at Bonnaroo assuming that happens but, everything else would be toast. The Who, Foos, Wu-Tang/Soul Rebels, Dead and Company, Disco Biscuits, Umphreys, Tractorbeam. Fuck. I’m crying. Buku is done til September, so I missed all the shit I wanted to see there (RTJ, Tyler, Turnstile, etc). And FQF is rescheduled for October. And that was moved this year from 2 weeks before Jazz Fest to only one week.
Obviously the city wants it to happen, because it’s such an important event for economy. But they won’t risk lives. Probably best case is they have it some other weekends in September with whoever can play.
Local music writer Keith Spera thinks October. Would be a trip to do ACL, two weekends of Jazz Fest and Voodoo in a 5 weekend period.
