Problem with pushing these things to 4 days is Danny is gonna run out of headliners real fast. There can't be more than like twenty bands on that level, right?
Kiss Slipknot None Inch Nails Red Hot Chili Peppers Korn Guns n Roses Foo Fighters Metallica My Chemical Romance Iron Maiden Green Day Tool Rage Against The Machine System of a Down Avenged Sevenfold Disturbed Rammstein AC/DC Aerosmith Slayer reunion? Idk
Also, in five years, 1/3rd of bands will be retired or near it. Everyone thought Ozzy would keep going but he looks done for. Will these fests ever book someone who is actually fairly new? Maybe Bring Me the Horizon starts taking the top spot? But I think they are near their peak as is.
I think that's the problem though, there is nobody new. Even BMTH has been at it for damn near twenty years! I could see Turnstile getting there on the next album cycle though

lack of fresh headliners hasn't stopped any of the jam or wooktronica festivals. just cut a check to string cheese or whoever took bassnectars slot.
Greta Van Fleet and Imagine Dragons are prob next on their list of roping em in. Havent Five Finger Death Punch and Staind been prior headliners? Limp Bizkit could def be one they throw in there also. They had em as a thursday bonus headliner last year on one of these if im right.

honestly I could see an Excision set at one of these things

lol, at voodoo fest a few years ago i was with some friends that aren't really into electronic but love metal. told them we needed to see excision. they were like "eh" but they trust me.
excision comes out and is like "ALRIGHT YALL READY TO GET X-RATED" and just fucking went off. my friends were vibrating within seconds. was a great time and they still talk about it.

I haven't been to one of his shows yet, and I never actually listen to his music, but I'll be damned if I'd skip his set at a fest I was already going to

exactly my attitude. i never choose to listen to excision, but at a festival i'll be there.
henry rollins had a bit about slayer, where he said they must freeze them between albums, then let them out and just say "it's still 1987 go go go!!!" to me excision is like that except they say "it's still 2010 go go go!!!". in other words i respect how he stuck with dubstep rather than trying to "grow as an artist". sticking to his guns has really worked out for him.

It’s similar in its style & hardness, but it’s not like he hasnt grown into a mega producer. So he’s definitely grown as an artist, but in a different way.
You could probably pivot to Skrillex and Deadmau5 and stuff like that which has fallen out of mainstream favor, it just feels like the bigger opportunity and more natural pivot will be to keep finding anything that could qualify as hard rock.
At this point Wimmer could run out a top line with Metallica - Avenged Sevenfold - The Black Keys and I feel like people would shrug and think "Well Thicfreakness is pretty heavy and I guess would have fun at that set..."

There's a whole pool of death-EDM artists who are as hard as most metal bands. That shit blew up in Western Canada/B.C. 9-10 years ago. There are some record labels that cater to that death-dub shit. Some of the studio stuff can get monotonous, but the live shows are pretty hard. Besides Excision - there is shit like Protohype or Trollphace (check out head shot season from several years back), Virtual Riot, all the guys on Disciple (12th Planet, etc.) and the now defunct Never Say Die: Black Label stuff.
03/14 - Thievery Corporation 04/25 - Black Country, New Road 05/04 - In Flames, Gatecreeper 05/10 - Modern Life is War 05/21 - Spite, Bodysnatcher, Thrown 05/29 - Knocked Loose, Loathe, Show me the Body, Speed 06/02 - Bush 06/22 - George Thorogood 06/23 - Dillinger Escape Plan, Deadguy, Candy, Carbomb
So anybody have any idea what the hell is up with Sonic Temple? Obviously not happening in 2022, but radio silence on the fest's end. No "see you in 2023" or anything. ROTR/ST wasn't always a home run but it'll be a bummer for Columbus if it's gone forever.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
DWP has raised the bar so high that they can casually add NIN as a replacement and it's a non-story because you only expect good things at this point.
weird how they announced this today and Parkway Drive is still on the poster, they just cancelled their NA tour due to personal issues. Not sure who they could bring in as an equal replacement, but Knocked Loose is free that weekend
