Feels very small, but not 'that' bad. Billing of Black Pumas and MGK is certainly interesting, as is GvF's relatively low (?) billing.
As a big rock dude, I don't find it bad, it's just not compelling. Although Stevie Nicks is a legend, so that's something. That's a pretty big get, ultimately.
I would have a lot of fun at this fest, I would just RATHER go to Riot Fest 2021 with NIN and FNM and the like. LOL.
In Bloom Festival 3/18-3/19 Houston, Texas Rock Werchter Festival 7/5-7/8 - Werchter, Belgium Mad Cool Festival 7/12-7/14 - Madrid, Spain Austin City Limits 10/5-10/7 - Austin, Texas
Now I’m really pessimistic about Voodoo. Maybe they get Nails or Foo Fighters which will make it worth the 49.99 I’m already in for rolling over previous GA. Platinum looks highly unlikely. Bah.
I feel like Voodoo ALWAYS delivers to the rock and popular rap crowd. I don't always go, but I'm not usually disappointed by their lineup.

The thing about Black Pumas is this is the only lineup they're billed high on and they're from Austin and we don't really need to overthink it. They are definitely a thing that's getting a huge push but it's generally not reflected in their billing on a lot of stuff so far.
They are only billed a couple places higher at ACL than they are at Bottle Rock.
They're one spot ahead of Future Islands on Bottle Rock and ten ahead of them here. There aren't really a lot of big names behind them on BR. The festivals are different scales. They got billed behind Shaq doing a DJ set at Summerfest.

Alice Cooper ends a US tour at Shaky Knees the previous weekend. They'd be a good fit for Voodoo.

They are definitely getting an Austin bump but I also think they are bigger than people realize. I also don't think they are worth this amount of discussion.
If I go to a fest this year (which tbh still feels like a strange idea to me), it’ll be this. Mostly cos convenience in that I’ll happen to be back in TX at the time with schedule flexibility for once. The lineup isn’t my favorite but there’s plenty I like & I miss tf out of live music.
This lineup is legitimately 25+ names lighter than usual tho. What are the odds they make adds? Might just be that it’ll be a bit less packed schedule-wise this go round.

I think their billing is interesting in that it's been low for a band with the Grammy nods. Musically not my thing but I'm sure I'll see them at something sooner or later.

Give me Alice Bowie \m/. But yeah, I'd see Alice. Only time he was ever at something I went to was Bonnaroo 2012. I think it was after the RHCP around midnight or so. A couple of our buddies peeled off to go to that. Me and Jabco went to see Spectrum Road which was fucking blow away. So I didn't get to see Alice then and probably won't have that many more chances. He'd be a perfect off-stage performer for Halloween evening or Saturday night between Sub & HL. Since Halloween is on the weekend this year, and since Manson is blackballed, I want some horror shit like Cooper or Starcrawler or GWAR something from the darkside bringing me blood, on-stage suicide or murders for comic relief.

Also these complaints make no sense? If they booked bigger names it would probably be shit like Foo Fighters and Post Malone which you all would be complaining about if they booked
I like this lineup quite a bit, largely cause I’ve seen basically none of the big names before.
yeah I’m not getting the criticism of this lineup at all I think it’s pretty great
Meatball makes a fair point as far as getting to see things not previously seen. I don't hate the lineup, but it's not really that much for me. For the side panel/headiners:
Strait - Big name for Texas and respect, but I don't get stimulated by C&W unless it's serious picking/bluegrass stuff Eilish - Have seen, is fine but wasn't for me. Would probably see again. Nicks - Have not seen solo. She'll be around 73 (?) by ACL, and who knows how many more chances you get to see her. Miley - Kind of a wildcard that I haven't seen - could be fun, could be just kind of a show-person show Rufus Du Sol - Was decent when I saw them. I didn't love it, but I stayed for the whole set and would see them again DABABY - Was one of the most annoying rap shows I've ever been to. That was a few years ago, so maybe he earned the push? Erikah - Another wildcard. Super eclectic and talented. Last thing I saw her do was the Rebilliet show where she came out to perform with him
Too (unfortunately) use the term twice in a post, it's an eclectic top. There's plenty of fun shit in the mid-card. My only two comments about placement would be that Doja Cat (who is perfectly fine live) has apparently skyrocketed in 2 years from the bottom line of a small fest to #9 at ACL. Same for Jack Harlow. I saw him in 2018 for an opener of the day set. It wasn't great. I don't follow recommendations on streaming platforms, so I'm assuming both have developed extremely large followings.

yeah both Doja and Harlow have blown up in the past year, I would say their billing is pretty fitting in comparison with everything around them
