Doubt we'd get Frank and rage, rage seems more likely.
Reasonable wishlist.. Rage Neil (he seems to pop up randomly as far as dates, I could see him jumping in the "play huge shows in tx a month out of election" combo) Chems Gizz Black midi Earl Tyler Sza Rtj Ty Segall Just one of chip/Caribou/four tet/floating points perfume genius
If rumors are true and Boston Calling + Governor's Ball did not score R.A.T.M., the likelihood of them doing a festival run throughout the country goes out the window.
Could they just be at Coachella?
But I suppose that if any other festivals secured Rage, it could be the big C3 joints in Lolla/ACL... I dunno, I'm not getting my hopes up for them anymore. If they pop up on Lollapalooza, then it's a lock here.

idk id maybe think the opposite. at least more recently theyve been trying to keep the 'big' name on each lineup different.
considering top 8, they share at least 2 per year.
2019 - tame / gambino
2018 - jack / monkeys / travis / national / odesza
2017 - Chance / killers / xx
2016 - radiohead / LCD / major lazer
And Rage Against the Machine chose 2020 for a reason - Election year. It's a politically charged climate, they're a politically charged band. If they are out there past April's Coachella, it would make sense they're out there on October, a couple weeks before November 3rd.

2019 - GnR and Ariana 2018 - Paul and Bruno 2017 - Jay and idk arcade fire/muse, chance was the one there which was weird, and different.
they definitely rotate headliners, but if Rage doesn't play past 2020 its not necessarily a guarantee. id say the vibe of it being so close to the election is stronger than the lolla conneciton.
but id love to see it, so maybe this year we just get the weeknd and they get mumford or something.

All but Bruno who was the 2 but behind Weeknd who was at ACL a couple years before. 2017 lolla billing was weird though because of chance getting the hometown #1

Can those 2 festivals afford them when they can do stadium shows in those cities? Coachella paid their fee AND donated a 7 figure check to a non-AEG friendly charity.
Sept/October 2020 RATM may be very strategic where they play for political impact.
L.A. Rising: Rage Against The Machine, Muse, Rise Against, Lauryn Hill, Immortal Technique, El Gran Silencio Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum

Well, Boston Calling got RATM after all, so they're certainly in ACL's budget. Personally, I'm more invested in this Bright Eyes reunion. Conor was pretty salty about the sound bleed in 2016, but those issues have mostly been resolved now.
