Looking fwd to seeing who gets added this week, between now and August 5th...We all pretty much knew it was a Hail Mary for the black metal European bands to make it this year. I just hope last-minute band/artist cancelations are kept to a minimum in these final weeks.

Overall the set times are pretty good. Only big conflict for me is Osees vs Repulsion. Seen Osees a bunch but they're one of my fave bands. Repulsion are fuckin sick but they're also playing in L.A. for Decibel's Metal & Beer Fest... Really no idea what to do there.

I feel for the people who wanted all the black metal but for my tastes they made the festival a whole lot better with all the additions over the past few weeks

Couldn't agree more! Not a fan of the black metal, and having more stoner/doom/metal works for me!
Love that they added Deafheaven too...And they'll be playing a special 10 Years Gone set!
Time Dillon out, Cult of Fire back in Pinback out, Wovenhand in Red Fang out, Big Business in Hippie Death Cult out, replaced by ?????
Thanks for the summary dude...I think that covers all the changes from over the weekend.
Hopefully that's it for now, but I bet there will be another couple cancelations/changes. Even in normal years, there's always some weird last minute cancelations that happen.
This festival is going to have a completely different line up by the time Friday rolls in.
You still going or did you get a refund?
The lineup has changed a ton since the first version dropped (pre-COVID), but it appears the organizers are doing all they can to make this as whole as possible...
The latest dropouts and subs didn't do much for me one way or another, so I'm still very much excited for all the sets we'll be seeing this weekend!

I opted out. My top 3 acts (Emperor, 'Fate, Ulver) all dropped. Just going to Chicago to do Pitchfork and Riot in a month instead.
I feel for the organizers for sure but I don't think they should have tried till the last minute on some of these acts when they knew how hard it was going to be with restrictions. Cut your losses, be transparent with folks and move them to next year. You can refund festival tickets but not some hotel or flight tickets or work arrangements. They could have used that time to fill the line up with better American acts. I know it's a completely different animal but look at how quickly ACL worked in getting replacements. And they didn't have to do anything since it was sold out. My 2 cents at least.

opinions and all but I think they did a fantastic job with replacements and the festival is better than it was
I understand lamenting the loss of black metal, and it’s a bummer they replaced them with non-bm, but what big draw American black metal even is there? WITTR already dropped off the lineup from 2020 and is scheduled for next year, and they added Deafheaven
I’m sure they had a lot of these back-up plans for a while, but were holding out as long as they could since the situation is so fluid, especially recently

This is exactly what I mean when I said they should have cut ties early and announce it quickly to lessen the blow. There was a long radio silence that didn't make things easy. Friday was a big deal for a lot of fans and it shows by how many new tickets they started to release. By early forecasting that this is going to be extremely hard to make happen would have made the idea of a new line up easier to take. The new bands aren't my thing but they could have dipped further into death metal (Autopsy, Morbid Angel, Monstrosity) since they made a point to go more metal this year. That would have appeased those fans instead of booking questionable comedians.
I'm also biased in my overview as I heard some pretty bad stories of how they treat bands so they were probably even more stuck on finding acts that actually wanted to work with them.

I’ve heard bad things too, but they also get a ton of repeat bands and they added a bunch of repeat acts as replacements over the past few weeks
Might just be the bookers have a certain personality type and they clash with some
