I dig this lineup more. Bummed to lose Blonde Redhead, Ulver and Warpaint but Primitive Man, Dying Fetus, Cannibal Corpse, High on Fire and Exodus is pretty big for me.
Interpol & The Walkmen 11.23 I Am Morbid/Suffocation 11.26 King Diamond 11.29 Sadistic Intent/Massacre 11.30 70K Tons Of Metal 2025 Hell's Heroes 2025 Sick New World 2025 Maryland Deathfest 2025
tbh, I can't think of many headliners that could have replaced Mercyful Fate.
Judas Priest? Already playing Vegas this year. Faith No More? Riot probably snagged them as a yearly exclusive. King Gizz? Not big enough and may not be in the States that early. QOTSA? Doesn't look like they are doing anything lately. NIN? Probably out of the budget and all their money is wrapped up with Fate for next year.
I always expected Down was a headliner when it was first teased so this doesn't seem much of a surprise.
I know Thievery Corp is new but Flaming Lips are a bit weirder to me on this.
I know they’re not going to play any of it, but Flaming Lips have a lot of dark, heavyish psych stuff, which is keeping with what the fest has always been about. A set heavy on Embryonic and The Terror would be ideal for me and fit right in here
03/14 - Thievery Corporation 04/25 - Black Country, New Road 05/04 - In Flames, Gatecreeper 05/10 - Modern Life is War 05/21 - Spite, Bodysnatcher, Thrown 05/29 - Knocked Loose, Loathe, Show me the Body, Speed 06/02 - Bush 06/22 - George Thorogood 06/23 - Dillinger Escape Plan, Deadguy, Candy, Carbomb

Well we now know if there ever was a chance for King Gizzard, it went out the window as the band has rescheduled their Fall 2021 U.S. & Canada dates to 2022.
Also, it didn't hit me til yesterday that several other bands didn't end up on the final revised lineup. Psycho's FAQ has been updated to include some of these bands, such as Blonde Redhead, Brutus, Crowbar.

Made a playlist for this one
It’s striking to me how they went in both directions with this lineup—a lot more extreme metal but also a lot more indie stuff. Makes for an interesting listen and should be a ton of fun

F*ck man, now I see outta the blue without any announcement that Zola Jesus canceled for this year...
I have a feeling more cancelations and switches will be occurring between now and next month.
I had a saved copy of the lineup from a couple weeks ago and she wasn’t on there then
Bummer. I wasn’t super excited for her but I don’t like these unannounced cancellations and I’m getting nervous for bands I actually am looking forward to

Yeah, looks like they updated the main lineup poster some time in mid/late June.
She was on the daily lineup posters/announcements, so something changed between May 21st and then...I've been wanting to see her live for the past several years, so I'm bummed about this one. Hopefully we don't lose any more of the lineup, and also get a couple new acts in the mix due to these cancelations.
Looks like there is a strong chance that some (or all) of the European bands on the bill may be in jeopardy of playing this year - Emperor, Watain, MGLA, Cult of Fire, Mayhem, Satyricon, Crippled Black Phoenix, and Psychlona.
People have been speculating on this the past week or so, and now the latest Psycho Ad they shared on Instagram doesn't highlight bands like Emperor or Watain.
The COVID shitshow continues to f*ck things up, but maybe we will get some kick ass replacements.

Fuck, I really hope that's not the case but definitely wouldn't be surprised. FWIW, someone in the Psycho FB group had mentioned that Cult Of Fire confirmed they were still playing on their own FB page...
But at this point I'd be much more shocked to see the Euro bands there than not.

Psycho can always be counted on to lose key pieces of their lineup on a normal year. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a bloodbath of international losses between now and the festival. The people who run this thing are incompetent trash and never should have gone forward with it this year.
